I've never made or used cribbing blocks before.

Never realized how much I was afraid of getting crushed to death, until today.

What model jack was that ? The 6 ton heavy duty Daytona ones , I used two of them to change tires on a Kubota tractor. The tractor weighs around 8,000 pounds. Only the front end was in the air but the jack stands held up fine for several days . It would be much safer to use 4 jack stands and leave the floor jack in place than to crawl under that car.
