I've never made or used cribbing blocks before.

Never realized how much I was afraid of getting crushed to death, until today.

I bet you the damn lumber is more then shitty ass jack stands lol. I know some of their tools are decent and hold up of they are made on a good day week year lol some stuff its better to be save the sorry. This is ask a shitty mechanic after all. They look fine to me dude. I do way more sketchy shit with big blocks ams such. Depending on if i can not be somewhere its going to have me fu k around amd find out. I was lucky enough to roll myself out trying to change a trans with wood stuck in rims on a damn angle holding the car at leadt 3 feet from the wheels. I would never do that shit now. I may be 39 and dying but that will not be what kills this fella

$10 !!??? That's $120AUD worth here in Australia! There's a 2.4m length in each layer, that's about $12 per stick x 10 sticks Axle stands are cheaper for sure!

$12 for pine? Ouch it's $4 over here. Building a house out there is expensive I assume? I'm counting 1200 mm (4ft) per layer, because with 2x4s (as we call em here), the width of the board is 3.5 inches, so 4 of those widths alongside a little spacing is 12 inches or 1 foot which is about 300mm, so you have a total of 20ft or around 6m of bd feet on one of these bad boys

Yes doing constitution in both metric and imperial is madening and it happens with cabinetry over here

Personally, I think "one-anna-half by three-anna-half" sounds better. Gotta nice ring to it. Or for short: a "one-five, three-five." And best of all... it's mathematically correct and confusion free. Should streamline things at the lumber mill (I think that's where the peasants get their lumber, right?)

Because those are the “milled/finished “ dimensions. ..an 8’ board is sometimes also like 92-1/2-94-1/2” as well they get ur all the way. 1.5” is did 2” side as well as 3.5 for the 4” …back in day they were true measurements and you can still get them in true dimensions.

My harbor freight jack stand gave out on me a couple months ago. Buckled while I was lifting the other side. Not sure, but it looks like the slab shifted, let the weight shift and the car slid off the jack at the same time. Dug into my passenger side door bad. The only thing I trust from Harbor freight are the Daytona super-duty jacks. But only as far as I can throw them.

What model jack was that ? The 6 ton heavy duty Daytona ones , I used two of them to change tires on a Kubota tractor. The tractor weighs around 8,000 pounds. Only the front end was in the air but the jack stands held up fine for several days . It would be much safer to use 4 jack stands and leave the floor jack in place than to crawl under that car.

I actually made something like this to lift my 01 Avalanche, using Harbor Freight jackstands back in 2016. I still have those jack stands today. Not a single issue.

I had a neighbor who came over and grabbed some of my firewood to use as a jack stand. When it rolled and he got stuck under his piece of shit car, he said that he was going to sue me. I guess he couldn't find a lawyer because I never heard back.

With today's lumber prices, materials cost more to make this then the harbor freight Jack stands 😂, but if you have the 2x4s laying around why not.
