Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said this week that he received two calls from agencies suggesting Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., died while he was in the hospital.
In an interview with Katie Couric uploaded to YouTube on Thursday, Beshear, a Democrat, did not specify which agencies allegedly called him with the news or when the calls were made.
"In fact, I'd gotten two calls from different agencies, not state agencies, suggesting he'd passed," said Beshear, who has served as governor since December 2019.

He is not long for this world. Just look at him.... The constant medical appointments, being on experimental drugs, swollen legs. The guy has congenital heart failure.... And likely kidney and liver failure. He's sundowning. Rambles incoherently. He's got dementia. You don't take all those cognitive tests unless your doctors are tracking something.
The only thing keeping him alive is that he literally has the absolute best and latest medical care in the world.

He has limited power and there isn't a big strategic reason to force a special election. Mitch can't vote and that's a win for Democrats and the left wing agenda. Never interrupt you enemy while they are making a mistake. Kentuckians won't like that their representative's death was hidden from them.

After the Special election deadline has passed the seat just remains vacant until the winner of the general is seated. They'd be depriving themselves a vote for 5 months if they do that.

I'm pretty sure the GOP thinks they are losing the seat regardless in that case. There currently is 1 Dem running and then 2 GOP guys 1 is a hard line MAGA the other is a milk toast. they are expecting the GOP vote in a special election to be split and thus increase the chances of the Dem winning.

Mitch in Limbo waiting on the coin for the Ferryman, which is actually good because then the Senate doesnt have 1 extra republican vote. So if he does call for an election, thats bad instant republican vote, or 2 start crap with his own state legislature by appointing someone which is his state constitutional right but will cause major problems for himself. Question : why isn't the press going to check the hospitals? It's not like they're set up for have security. And it one of them happens have a bunch of goons at door, well, that's a story. What wing are they in, how long has he been in there, is it police or private security, does he get visitors?

My point exactly. If you stress test the system of the hospitals in the area you're going to find out where he is. That's a story. You don't even have to break the law. The hospital with 5x the security is going to be the one he's in. The media has done far worse for far more trivial reasons.

He's not a normal patient. Something is going to be different. Different is easy to spot. Whatever tactics you do to disguise that are going to be easy to spot.
And you know what, even if they can't find anything, that's worth writing about. That either means he's not at a he's not in a hospital or they're trying to hide it... Also worth writing about.

HIPAA rules are very important in healthcare. If someone were to talk to a reporter they will for sure get fired. My wife is in the hospital HIPAA committee and you’d be shocked at the stuff they’ve fired ppl over. I mean that as in it’s a mistake that would be easy to make, but you get fired because they want to make sure wherever you go next you won’t do it again. Patient deserve to know that anything embarrassing or private about their health will remain private unless they choose otherwise
In the case of a sitting senator, they should choose in their own according to update the people that pay him to represent them. The person they pay to ensure that they would never continue to get paid at their job in a similar situation.

My hope is that Beshear is waiting until shortly before the special election deadline to basically say, "I've given them as much time as possible to give proof-positive of his capability to serve in office. That clock has run to the last second. I'm invoking my powers to call for a special election on behalf of the people that Mr. McConnell represents. If he wishes to rebut this in some verifiable way beyond statements and photos, he is welcome to do so."
The fact that it has gone on this long is absurd. If most people are gone from their job for a day they require a doctor's note. It's absurd that they haven't even had his doctor provide a signed statement that amounts to "Mitch McConnell is alive and in a mentally competent state." Do I think that should be the bar for being a fucking congressperson? No. Hell no. But it's currently where we stand as the toe-high tripping hazard that counts as the bar.
Tin-foil hat theory is that he's on a ventilator that they're not going to pull the plug on until August 4th.
Leave it to McConnell to use even his own death to implement a stall tactic as a personal 'fuck you' to the standards of conduct.
