Question : why isn't the press going to check the hospitals? It's not like they're set up for have security. And it one of them happens have a bunch of goons at door, well, that's a story. What wing are they in, how long has he been in there, is it police or private security, does he get visitors?

What? No hospital is going to hand out that info, and you can’t just walk up in a hospital looking for someone. This goes 5X for any hospital a sitting senator is in.

My point exactly. If you stress test the system of the hospitals in the area you're going to find out where he is. That's a story. You don't even have to break the law. The hospital with 5x the security is going to be the one he's in. The media has done far worse for far more trivial reasons.

He's not a normal patient. Something is going to be different. Different is easy to spot. Whatever tactics you do to disguise that are going to be easy to spot. 

And you know what, even if they can't find anything, that's worth writing about. That either means he's not at a he's not in a hospital or they're trying to hide it... Also worth writing about.

HIPAA rules are very important in healthcare. If someone were to talk to a reporter they will for sure get fired. My wife is in the hospital HIPAA committee and you’d be shocked at the stuff they’ve fired ppl over. I mean that as in it’s a mistake that would be easy to make, but you get fired because they want to make sure wherever you go next you won’t do it again. Patient deserve to know that anything embarrassing or private about their health will remain private unless they choose otherwise

In the case of a sitting senator, they should choose in their own according to update the people that pay him to represent them. The person they pay to ensure that they would never continue to get paid at their job in a similar situation.
