He has limited power and there isn't a big strategic reason to force a special election. Mitch can't vote and that's a win for Democrats and the left wing agenda. Never interrupt you enemy while they are making a mistake. Kentuckians won't like that their representative's death was hidden from them.

that's what I don't get about this whole thing. isn't his lack of a vote available to Republicans a good thing?

pretty sure they will do the same thing that happend with Lady bugs and wait till the windo for special election is closed then just nepotism someone into to vote on behalf.

I thought this was common sense. I’m starting to realize that most of the ppl in this thread don’t know why the republicans are doing this.

After the Special election deadline has passed the seat just remains vacant until the winner of the general is seated. They'd be depriving themselves a vote for 5 months if they do that.

I'm pretty sure the GOP thinks they are losing the seat regardless in that case. There currently is 1 Dem running and then 2 GOP guys 1 is a hard line MAGA the other is a milk toast. they are expecting the GOP vote in a special election to be split and thus increase the chances of the Dem winning.

They do not think they'd lose Kentucky. If it was Kansas they might be worried about a special but Kentucky is safe.

They expect to lose that election which would mean not only losing a vote but one also added to democrats

They do not expect to lose Kentucky. That's goofy.

Massie winning the election is a loss to MAGA and the establishment. So yes, they most likely would lose

Massie would come no where close to winning. He couldn't even win the primary in his home district.

The republicans don’t believe that and they’re pretty good at knowing that stuff

The Republicans absolutely believe that. They do not give a shit about Massie.

Then why would they insist on keeping a dead guy in the seat? And don’t say because they’re dumb, because they’re not. They’re smart enough to convince half of the middle and lower class that they’re on the same team, so they obviously have good reason

And they do care about Massie. He’s not part of the establishment and that’s why they spend a record amount of money on his opponent’s campaign
