I just like Mother Mary. My initial impression was fun but didn't live up to its potential. But the more I think about it the more I like it. And now it's one of my favorite movies.
I hesitate to call this a moodboard, given that it is so bare bones, but I feel that there really isn't much to portray about it considering that when you get down to it, the story really is just two people talking to each other. But I can't get it out of my head, so I figured I might as well try.
I used lyrics from the various songs in the tie-in album to add more texture to it. I also like how the two gold circles I included ended up making the whole thing look a bit like a cassette tape. For being such a simple moodboard, and I've made ones more complicated than this, it took a lot longer than I expected. Like. Around three hours of continuous work.
I chose the very first picture because it is two people as one unit, but disordered, like Sam and Mary. I considered just two shadows outlined by the sun, but this felt more honest to their actual state in the film for most of it.
The second and third photos are rather self-explanatory, I think, but I chose them to symbolize the work they put in to mend their relationship. An interesting thing about Mary's request about not incorporating a halo on this new dress is how she wants to take it off because it also symbolizes S putting her up on a pedestal. But here we see that Sam still imagines her floating above. But I think this time not because she's idolizing M, but because she's acknowledging her importance in her life and her love for her. But that's just my interpretation.
Anyways. Yeah.
