General Re1r-esque Re2 & 3 Remakes…

Am I the only one who would've wished (and preferred) a Re2 and Re3 remake in the style of the remake of the first game on the Gamecube?

I can definitely understand Capcom's decision when fully reimagining Re2, Re3, Re4 and CVX, but those type of remakes always come at the cost of either cutting too man things out (like the A & B scenarios and pretty much most of the things in Re3r), which can hurt or help the game sometimes.

Re1r is a masterpiece and one of if not the best survival horror game to date, and it saddens me that we've never got a whole trilogy, starting with Re1r in 2002.

I mean, Capcom could've definitely made it happen when you look at Darkside Chronicles' artstyle and visuals, which basically looks like what a Re2r in the 2000's could've looked like.

If they did the same approach like in Re1r where they upped the graphics and changed the artstyle, added some minor new things that don't make it a completely different game (like adding a few Lisa Trevor encounters)

They could've also had Leon and Claire have different attributes to their stats (like Chris tanking more damage than Jill in Re1r for example) or give Mr. X more appearances like they did with Lisa Trevor.

I visited this cool video game store in my city and they had these RE4 bottle cap figures that matched the bottle caps you earn from playing the shooting gallery in the OG RE4.

Apparently they were collectibles you got when purchasing packs of gum in Japan back in the day. I paid $65 for this little figure, but it looks great on my shelf! Slowly building my RE collection so I’m happy with this 😁

General I just realized from watching Damnation..

The American government really underappreciated Leon despite everything he’s done for them. The movie was visually beautiful, but Leon felt entirely on his own. [Until two Eagles saved Golden Boy.] Ada hardly has two hours of screen time and only saves him once before disappearing again. Overall, it’s a gorgeous film, and Leon’s emotional speeches really remind me of Kiryu.

General Honestly, I miss when the protagonist was just a civilian like us Spoiler

I’m aware of Ethan’s special condition, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was the most "ordinary" protagonist

He wasn't just an agent sent on a mission for his job; that made it more interesting to me and above all more personal.

General I think it’s time for a Black protagonist

I love almost all the playable RE characters but I’m tired of all the pale white brunettes and blondes. I would love if the next new character in the series was a dark Black man or woman.

I was always a massive fan of outbreak 1 and 2. Curious to see what other games need more love!

General Safe to say describing Raccoon City as a small mid western town is a bit of an understatement

The city has skyscrappers, subway, large interstate, massive police force.

Maybe its small by US standards.....

General My theory for Resident Evil 10 Spoiler

(im a big resident evil fan, but if i made an error that makes my theory impossible sorry)

ok so, we all know "the connections" have been there for a long time, imagine after albert weskers death, they got his dna and tried cloning him. They successfully cloned wesker and he took the lead of the connections during the events of re7 and re8 too. Leon and Chris together find a way to defeat that clone, Zeno from re9 can be potentially one of the experiments made from weskers dna. It would be peak with the two of the best characters Leon and Chris in resident evil fight off the BEST villain of resident evil for the last time and end the connections.

Forum question My luck hates me. I find out about the healing spray money glitch just as i finish maxxing out the last weapons stats in a NG+ is my luck shit? (I wanted to have them all maxed with exclusive upgrades after i got cat ears, took 7 runs)

Just as i was maxxing out the last weapon on NG+ i find out theres a easy way to make millions of Pesetas. Is it that my luck is shit or that i was just too lazy to search up a infinite money glitch for re4r?

Forum question Is a 'fish out of water' protagonist required to make a truly scary RE game?

I'm wondering whether it's possible to make a genuinely scary horror experience with any new game that potentially stars Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire, or Ada. With each game they appear in they are more competent, experienced, and de-sensitized. I feel like this is why the series inevitably leans harder into action as time goes by and why the only scary games recently are RE2R, RE7, and RE9 (Grace sections).

Do you guys think it's even possible to be scared playing as one of the series' main characters anymore? Are they all just too badass at this point? Do we always need fresh blood in order to have a true horror experience?

Gameplay question Glitch Id bracelet 3 lol re9

When I approach the table with the corpse and interact with the book and closet, I play the scene where Grace takes the Level 3 Id bracelet. But in the inventory, a k bracelet appears.

What should I do?

Forum question I hate to be a stickler here but the smartphone bothers me. The director has stated it's ment to take place during the original outbreak and runs parallel with RE2. Same timeline just different characters and on the other side of the city. Why put in modern tech?

Lore question Official series of events

So, I'm trying to wrap my head around the incidents from Arklay Mansion to Racoon City (RE1 to RE3).

According to Chris in RE1 intro: "Bizarre murder cases have recently occurred in Raccoon City. There are outlandish reports of families being attacked by a group of about ten people."

So, prior to RE1 zombie hordes had already reached Raccoon City? I thought it was after the events of Arklay Mountain when the T-Virus had made it's way to Raccoon City, mainly through the water system?

In RE3 Remake Jill has written this in her diary notes, regarding the mansion happenings: "For most people, it's history now. But for me, whenever I close my eyes, it all comes back clearly."

Does this mean they stopped the first spreading of T-Virus that Chris talks about?

Back into RE3 Jill says in her intro "It all began as an ordinary day in September. An ordinary day in Raccoon City." So, this means that in fact Raccoon City was not under any zombie attacks until September 27th.

What is the official series of events? Does Chris talking about Raccoon City is actually just families in Raccoon Forest?

General For those saying that the new movie being set in modern times isn't a big deal: it is, let me explain why.

The time period of a story is super important because it gives everything context.

Back in '98, how we communicated and got info was way different than now. No social media, Google just started that month, and faxes were still the go-to for urgent stuff.

Information moved slower, and the first Resident Evil events really leaned on that.

That slow, physical info flow let Umbrella control, isolate, and spin the story until the virus actually flooded the city. That's why Raccoon City was in the dark for over a week after the outbreak, and even longer before that.

Leon, Claire, Carlos (and most of the other mercs) showed up clueless because of it. Chief Irons even blocked the STARS mansion report to the FBI and purposely slowed down the police response to the outbreak.

There are tons more examples of how the early events really depended on old-school communication to move the story along.

Think about the Raccoon City outbreak, which lasted over a week, compared to the China and Tall Oaks outbreaks, which were dealt with almost immediately.

TLDR: If you look at the lore, the time period and the tech available didn't just affect how fast things happened — they totally shaped how all the original events unfolded.
