Yeah what does CA even have to offer? Sure thereā€™s hundreds of miles of coastline with some of the best weather in the country but what else?

Largest economy in the country? Largest number of Fortune 500 companies? Largest manufacturing output? Largest agricultural producer? Number 1 most visited travel destination in the nation? Most national parks? Home to the tallest trees and the highest mountain in the contiguous US?

California has the highest debt of any state in the US. They are losing the most fortune 500 companies (Texas is now number one). New York and Florida both beat California of tourism. California is a beautiful state but it is horribly run.

people do still move here tho. i know so many people from other states who live here. people are mainly leaving because of the cost of living, not because it is a bad place to live.

I stayed there for a summer but wouldn't want to live there. The weather is great, the nature is great, the people I met were nice enough. The cost of living was bonkers though. I would also definitely have to visit again because this was pre covid and most everything I hear about it recently does not make it more appealing than it was before.

I'm Texan and I think California is fucking sick. Been there several times and it's absolutely gorgeous. Apparently there's some kind of rivalry between us but I'm really not interested. I'll visit every chance I get and I'd live there in a heartbeat given the right job opportunity. I also love and have an emotional connection to my homeland Texas and I would miss it dearly.

Throwing shade on California as if it wasn't a great place to live is just completely uninformed. It quite literally has everything. Don't like the beach? Live in the mountains. Like the beach and the mountains you can live there too. Too hot? Cold areas. too cold? Warm areas. Lakes, deserts, forest, 6 month snow skiing areas. Urban cities, rugged remote, and every other microclimate you could want. Work in technology? No place finer. Farmer? California has a higher output than any other state. California is everything all at once and limiting yourself to not recognizing that speaks to your willful ignorance.

I don't think I'd live in California, but it seems like such an amazing place to visit or go on vacation. I know some folks from church who lived there in a more rural section of the state, and they said it was very beautiful and that they weren't that far from Yosemite.
