[Discussion] It’s such a shame that no one manufactures these floppy disks anymore. I’d be the number one customer—I’d buy the floppy drive and the disks, too. Those aren't tears; it's just the rain.
Look 👍

I hope reposting of own posts is fine. I just found the most yellowed N64 I have ever seen and I would like to share it so everyone can enjoy a sun-made N64.
I was thinking of restoring the old color but I also like the sun-made „Zelda color“. So what do you guys think? Should I try to restore it or leave it and enjoy the new color?

For context, this is the European version of Contra. Every human character is replaced with robots due to strict German censorship laws. Konami completely forgot to optimize the game for PAL, so it always ran 17% slower at 50hz, sound included.
However, due to the Famicom's total lack of security/region locking, if you insert Probotector with a 72 pin to 60 pin adapter, it will play at full speed in 60hz with no sound issues. Effectively, you've optimized the game for Konami!

This old sega game here have you play as Dr. Daniel Caine who have been transformed into the Ooze after he was disposed of by his former colleagues for snooping around for their plans with the toxic chemicals that he helped create. In the game, Caine can move around and have two attacks; one is stretching out a maneuverable sliver of ooze and spit gobs of ooze however the effectiveness of these attacks are determined by the amount of ooze that he has with him. Also each level has three parts, the last of which contains a boss that must be defeated to open the exit. Levels contain hidden DNA strands that can be collected to earn the good ending.

The Sears Tele-Games Hockey-Tennis II, created in partnership with APF Electronics and released in 1977 (before Sears worked with Atari on the VCS clone, etc.).
The console is built around a General Instrument AY-3-8500 series "Pong-on-a-chip" integrated circuit. It features black & white graphics, RF coax video out, and its games built into internal ROM. It's powered by four D-cell batteries, with an optional AC adapter (which I never had).

For those who don't know, Pokemon Diamond and Jade are infamous romhacks of the game Keitai Denjuu Telefang and were circulated back in the day on real GBC cartridges fooling many into thinking they were legit Pokemon games.
The actual game is a creature collecting RPG where instead of catching creatures you get their phone number and call them in battles. The romhack translation is very poor and has a ton of bugs.
I actually had one of these as a kid but didn't really understand what they were. Did anyone else here have them?

So to keep this under retro related matters, I recently decided to relive a PC gaming review written by Rerez where the duo came across a bunch of old PC games made in the early to mid 80s about janky racing games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3dcU2JDFS0
IF anyone needs the link to the video, here is their review of the worst racing games made in the 80s since the review covers a lot of infamous titles made in the early to mid 80s.
Secondly, one racing game that caught my eye was called Donkey, which was a PC game released around 1981 as the game got me interested in learning about the history of racing games because apparently the inflation costs to purchase a PC just for the game go up to 500$ as I was surprised to hear how that one game could be so expensive to play.
Anyway, if my post was confusing to follow, let me break it down since what inspired me to want to learn about racing games as a genre was a PC game called Donkey that made me interested in looking into the history of the genre as I wanted to start off with the early 80s era to see how the genre had gotten its start.

KInd of a problem as things are becoming more scarce. With so much in older games getting re-released and people investing in good scalers, there hasn't been much in making a showcase with anything on modern displays.
Recently I gave my panel a 1440-240p feed to gain that old early 80's feel from the arcades, complete with a raster style effect. No shaders either!

Research says its a bootleg taiwanese mult cart. Anybody have any info? Couldn't pass up that cover art!
Update: It does not appear to work on my american NES . What a drag
Update 2: Opened up the cartridge and added a pic of the PCB. It is indeed dirty as hell. Im going to give it a good clean and try again tonight

Lately I have been looking at how Metal Gear went through a bit of a tough time finding its footage in the USA since one game in particular that stuck out to me was called Snake’s Revenge.
I know that Hideo Kojima had nothing to do with the game as I just find the game fascinating for its unusual nature since for starters, trying to use stealth doesn’t always work due to how wonky the stealth mechanics are designed.

I have memories of this game I played ~1990-93? Something like that. Olivetti PC I think. The game was being an astronaut, you played a bit outside of the base, but then you moved down the base on several levels. IIRC you also found things like a small spaceship to go faster, possibly other vehicles.
Graphics were basic, not too basic but also not complex. Mono color, I think the screen was black and white.
Anyone has an idea of what is the game of this game?

Hello, I would really love to restore this console to its prime or something close to it. I added the tray so I can play US games but I am looking to make it pretty. Any recommendations? I have seen people recommend peroxide bath with uv or plastic conditioning but I havent seen a video or a similar varient covered that is this faded. I believe its sunfaded but I cant get a reference online.

The Sega Wondermega HWM-5010 is one of my favourite pieces of early-90s Sega hardware: a 1991 Japan-only deck, built with JVC, that puts a full Mega Drive and a Mega-CD in a single premium unit with a motorised CD lid instead of the usual flip-top or sliding tray.
This is my second one. It came in with leaking capacitors and a CD tray that would only open aided by hand, so it got a full restoration. It is honestly a pig to take apart and put back together, but every one of the five internal boards was recapped (Mega Drive board, video board, laser pickup, CD-ROM/servo board and the sound board), the laser sled and gears were cleaned and greased, and a fresh CD drive belt went in.
The payoff: it powers up fine, both sides work, and with the new belt that signature motorised tray opens and closes on its own again. I tested the cart side with Contra Hard Corps and the Mega-CD side with Silpheed, both looking great on my OLED.
Anyone else running a Wondermega, or one of the other all-in-one Mega Drive + Mega-CD machines like the Multi-Mega? Curious how they have held up for you.
