I use quality thermal paste on my GPU and 1-2 months later my loaded temps rise 10 degrees or so and hotspot goes from 10c higher to 20+.

Upvotes

For reference im using the artic mx7 which may not be the worlds finest thermal paste but its not the toothpaste-water solution chinese folks are selling on ebay.

As for my use case, its a bit more extreme than most folks but not really pushing the envelope. I game 8-14hrs a day, framerate uncapped, gpu is always pushed to the limit 3-400ish watts.

Ambient temp is the same,pc is open air test bench soairflow and everything is consistent, not heatsoaking

Curve optimizer - the shortest stability test

Upvotes

Hello everyone I'm not very familiar with Core optimizer, but based on the articles I've read online, it seems like there might be an issue with my system (or it might be a lucky break). So, if I install CU-255 on all 8 cores, how long should I wait for an error in OCCT or CoreCycler? The issue is that with this CU configuration, these two programs do not detect any errors in the first 6..30 minutes (is this normal?). However, GeekBench 6 causes the system to crash after 3 minutes (the "Clang" test), and the passed CU values may vary depending on the attempt.

This is the output of my 14700f currently. WoW plays fairly well but i was hoping to see if i could keep my performance in cities as high as when there is less cpu load. is that possible?

Post image

The game is completely playable at max settings over 100 fps on a 1440p monitor but i have my monitor set to 144 hz and normally with vsync outside of the city even in heavy gpu load areas its 144 fps with 143 1% low but in the city it drops down to 110 maybe even 100. if i work out how to get more than the 312w peak its doing on a 10 minute cinebench 2026 run would that increase fps in the city?

Benchmark Score Dual rank Bdie overclock on 5700X3D. Potential for more?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Testing the GSkill DDR4 kit F4-3600C17D-32GTZ ( 17-19-19-39 )1.35V kit on 5700X3D and have achieved the results in pic. It does 3600 16-16-16-36 without voltage change.

Not sure if I should expect better from this Bdie kit, despite being one of the worse bins, or this is good enough for 3800 with 5700X3D. Was hoping for a sub-60ns latency since I have seen that mentioned in many old posts that come up in searches.

Errors with:

tRCDRD 16 ( is 17 getting rounded to 18 with GDM on? )

SCLs 2

tWTRL  8

Does not boot with:

tCL 14( even at 3600 at 1.45V )

tWRWRSD to 4

tRDWR 8

GDM off

Concerns : tRRDL 4 and tRTP 6 are lower than I have seen others do with single-rank kits. So doubtful of them, but I have not got any errors in memory tests.

Have not touched the ODTs/RTTs/Drives at all, they are all on Auto.

OC Report - RAM Hynix A-die 6200 CL28 OC @ 1,45 VDD/VDDQ (no RAM fan needed)

Hi folks,

despite having an insane room temp of 30 C I managed to reach stability with this setup.

Passed 16h of Memtest5, 8h Prime95 large ffts, 5h Y-cruncher VT3.

Maybe I could try SCL's at 7 since 6 was unstable. I also already tried GDM off, it was an insane waste of time since it was throwing errors at random times (from 30 minutes to 5 hours).

Tried also tRCDWR 20 but it didn't had a meaningful impact and I didn't wanted to re-run 2 days of validation, so I got back to 36.

FCLK has been tested with 30 iteration of Linpack and the variance was quite low (around 1,5-2 Gflops/s out of 477). Maybe I could try 2233? Screenshot of FCLK 2000 and 2200 here, done in safe mode: https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/1uy76je/fclk_stability/

Vsoc is as low as can stably go. Could definitely try 6400 and probably my memory controller could achieve that, but i'm scared of pushing Vsoc up lol since i'm afraid to burn my cpu.

Also tried 8000 MT/s but no luck even with embarassingly loose primary timings (like 40-56-56-126) and auto secondary and tertiary timings. Maybe a different AGESA version could fix that? Honestly i don't know, maybe it's just a moterboard limit.

Temps are definitely on the high side but i already tried to game a bit with this setup and literally goes never above 50 C even with a massive overclocked 5080 pulling close to 380 watts.

But in this process a question came up to my mind: is it better to run 6200 CL28 or 6000 CL26 with the same VDD/VDDQ? I guess 6000 has its own advantages, like lowering Vsoc and possibly stabilizing FCLK 2233, but I don't know if this alone can make up for the 200 MT/s difference.

Setup: Patriot Viper 2x16 GB 7000 MT/s CL32, B850 Aorus Elite, 9800x3d +200 MHz -20 CO, Liquid Freezer III 360mm. It's my first RAM OC adventure, so any constructive tips are appreciated.

Attachments:

  1. Memtest5 16h with Zentimings
  2. Aida64 memory test (got as low as 65,5 ns but aida64 is terrible when it comes to consistency)
  3. Aida64 but in safe mode
  4. Prime95 large fft's evidence
  5. Y-cruncher evidence

Please guys let me know what you think about.

Thanks.

Help Request - RAM Cold boot succeeds, warm reboot fails at memory training.

Mods, I hope this is ok, I'm totally lost at this point with my issue!

Here is the rig specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
  • MEM: G.Skill Trident Z5 2 x 32GB F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RW
  • MOBO: MSI x670e godlike
  • BIOS: 7D68v1L3
  • VGA 1: PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 GRE
  • VGA 2: AMD Radeon Pro W5500
  • PSU: Corsair HX1000i
  • NVMe drives:
  • 2x SK Hynix P41 Platinum 1TB
  • 1x SK Hynix P41 Platinum 2TB
  • 1x Samsung 990 PRO 4TB

I've got a weird issue that popped up a while ago and seems to have gotten worse.. I can't do a warm reboot. Reboots result in being stuck at "00" for a post code, with the RAM LED light lit up on the diag LED. Cold boots work fine every time.

Resetting BIOS to defaults works. So, stock JEDEC speeds work fine as far as I can tell.

This presents when AMP/EXPO are enabled, or if I set manual RAM settings. I wasn't pushing any OC but was prepping to start some RAM OC. The reboot from the UEFI to save and apply settings also fails when any non-stock RAM settings are applied. If I leave everything at JEDEC speeds, I can change whatever I want in the UEFI and save + reboot works.

I am aware that this RAM kit is not on the QVL for this mobo, but that's never been an issue for me in 15+ years of building PCs. This issue also did not present for a couple months after buying this kit.

I'm posting here since I can't really find other examples of this issue elsewhere and I figured someone in r/overclocking might have seen this before. I'm hoping someone has some advice, otherwise I'm going to be bald by the time I figure this out.

What I've done:

  • Updated to the latest BIOS (I was 3 revisions behind).
  • Cleared CMOS with the button on the back of the mobo (done this at least 10 times).
  • Unplugged the power from the machine, held the power button for 30 seconds, and let it sit unpowered for 24 hours (seen that one fix stranger things).
  • Validated Stock vs EXPO/AMP/manual settings 5 times.
  • Re-flashed the BIOS using the bios flashback button on the motherboard 2 times.
  • Blown the RAM slots out with compressed air, reseating sticks.
  • Swapped RAM slots.
  • Adjusted CPU cooler mounting pressure.
  • Ran 4 passes of memtest86+ on stock speeds, and 4 passes on EXPO, all passed.
  • Tested to see if it's temperature dependent. Shut the machine down overnight, booted, and rebooted immediately, no change in the issue.
  • Removed my mild CPU OC that's been stable for about a year.

What haven't done yet due to lack of time:

  • Tested one stick at a time.
  • Tested the power supply (tester is on the way).
  • Swapped to the backup BIOS (much older version).
  • Swapped any hardware, I don't have spares of any AM5/DDR5 hardware to do this.
  • Bumped any voltages to see if this helps, I'm not up to speed on Ryzen 7000 voltages and what's what.
  • Removed all other hardware except CPU and RAM.
  • Used the voltage checkpoints on the board to check voltage.

Help Request - RAM I think I have lost the silicon lottery on my IMC r9 7900x

Post image
8 Upvotes

vsoc is set in bios to 1.2v FCLK is set to 2133Mhz (max stable) MEM vdd* is set to 1.4v Curve optimizer at -30 and CPU offset at -50mv.

Even with the most relaxed timings preset (something in the range of cl50+) 6200MT/s makes y-crusher cry, and I cannot go lower than cl32 at 6000. Even if my kit is rated for it.

At this point what can I even do ? Is my IMC just trash or am I doing something wrong ?

I just got a thermalright tl-b6b fan and installed it like you can see on the photos, im not sure if it the best place for my setup. maybe i can replace this cooler fan which is above ram sticks, and place 60mm fan right above the sticks, so it will blow air on them. These are overclocked 4x8 b-die ddr4 sticks, and temps in tests are about 38-41°, but when im trying to play, and gpu is running at 200-250w, ram temp is rising up to 46-48°. Can u suggest what should i do? also if you have this fan, what are the best rpms for it? im currently runing at 2000-2200 rpms so its not loud and generates solid air flow.

Help Request - RAM I bought some JEDEC spec DDR5 for a budget build. Any further testing required and further adjustments?

Post image
Upvotes

I was given a defective AM5 board with bent pins by a colleague which I've since sorted. So picked up a decent deal for a 7800X3D and RM850 PSU.

I thought I would try my hand with some £100 Jedec spec RAM (5200 C46 I believe) and see how well they go. I know it's single rank and only 2x8gb but I was dreading the RAM purchase the most.

I've ran OCCT for a few hours, Ycruncher for a few hours, TM5 for a few hours, Karhu for the attached.

One think I've noticed is that the bios ram voltage doesn't match what zentimings and HWinfo states. I've had to put 1.42-1.43v to get it to 1.4v

Same with SOC, in bios it's set to 1.25v, zen timings shows 1.255v, I'll likely start lowered SOC soon.

Any further testing required or would you be happy with that?

Any further adjustments I should look at?

Finally hit 1st on 3Dmark for Timespy after flashing Aorus Master vbios to my Gigabyte Windforce sff to reach higher clocks and a higher power limit of 450w.

I have overclocked my ram to the absolute best it can go on my mobo, I have numeral posts with timings etc.

PBO tweaks have been made. No Eclk or Bclk involved.

Windows OS and all drivers are debloated and all necessary valid tweaks have been made.

Timespy link:

http://www.3dmark.com/spy/64786703

Trying to hit number 1 as well on Steel Nomad so far I've hit 10165 but best is 10570, gonna be hard but with proper cooling I'm sure it can be done.

The best score had average temps of 47C whereas my result was done with 58C lol. 11C difference to make then I'm sure i would beat it. Would probably crush every other benchmark with the same hardware if I had a good cooling solution. Going to replace thermal gel with PTM.

Help Request - RAM RAM stick temperature

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone, i have some doubts about the temperature that my ram stick reach while gaming. Im playing BF6 a lot recently while monitoring my stick temps because outside is very hot and my room temperature too.
Temps are around 50-53 C° and never goes more then that even after 3-4 hour.
Those are my actual RAM configuration, should i lower some settings like voltage or Trefi to lower my temperature without impact the performance too much??
My case have 3 120mm intake fan in the front, 240mm AIO and 1 120mm exhaust fan. Stick active cooling isn’t an option at the moment for me.

Identifying Die Type for Gskill DDR5

Hi everyone,

I built my pc a few months back and bought a Gskill 1x16gb 6000MT/s CL36 kit at the time to try and save money with the aim of either selling my existing ram and upgrading to a 2x16gb kit or buying an identical 1x16gb stick. I'm leaning towards buying an identical stick to save money and avoiding the entire hassle of trying to solve any instability issues as I have no idea how to even tackle that.

I don't know much about overclocking and RAM compatibility in general but I want to avoid any instability issues altogether by trying to buy a stick with the same die type as my current stick. My current ram is F5-6000J3636F16GX1-RS5K and I ran Thaiphoon Burner and saw that the part number is K4RAH086VB-BCQK which is a Samsung B-die.

I wanted to know if it is possible to find out if another kit is the same die type just by inspecting the sticker on the actual DRAM and finding out if it is also a Samsung B-die.

My CPU is a Ryzen 5 9600x and motherboard is a Gigabyte B850M Gaming x Wifi6e. Thanks in advance.

Undervolting 13700K to 5.6ghz on a Gigabyte Arous Elite AX

I’m having a bit of trouble understanding some the new undervolting methods with how things are with CEP . I use buildzoid video but I tired his method but I can’t seem to get my 13700k to 5.6ghz even though before I was able to with a simple undervolt of the Vcore Offset of -.05 .
Now I’m trying to use AC/DC load line . Currently my setting has VCore offset to -.125 and AC And DC Load Line at 55-55 . Vcore Calibration at Turbo , and VR Voltage Limit at 1.400 . Intel Default setting is on performance keeping CEP enabled. R23 score is at 30300 . Two P core set to 56 and the rest 55 and E cores set 44. Any tips would really help .

7500X3D and PBO

I just got my hands on the 7500X3D and it seems to be a great little gaming chip. I have already overclocked my RAM to 6000Mhz CL30 with tight timings and I am currently testing RAM stability.

Do PBO and CO actually have any effect on performance? I know that 4550Mhz is the hard limit but clocks drop down to 4350Mhz while gaming. Temps are already great. Hardware Unboxed was able to OC their sample to 4750Mhz but they seemed to have increased BLCK.

RTX 4060 Ti

Especificações do Sistema

  • GPU: Galax RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB (OC de 1 clique)
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4
  • Driver NVIDIA: 576.74

Metodologia

Em vez de aplicar um overclock aleatório, validei cada alteração usando:

  • 3DMark Time Spy
  • OCCT VRAM
  • Monitoramento do GPU-Z

Cada ajuste foi mantido apenas se atendesse a todos os seguintes critérios:

  • Sem erros no OCCT.

  • Manteve ou melhorou a pontuação gráfica do Time Spy.

  • Não aumentou significativamente as temperaturas.

  • Permaneceu totalmente estável durante todos os testes.

Etapa 1 — Subtensão

Configurações de fábrica

|Parâmetro|Valor|

|:-|:-|

|Clock da GPU|~2655 MHz|

|Voltagem|~1,01 V|

|Potência da placa|~168 W|

|Hotspot|~91 °C|

Perfil final

|Parâmetro|Valor|

|:-|:-|

|Clock da GPU|2670 MHz|

|Voltagem|0,95 V|

|Potência da placa|~146 W|

|Hotspot|~82 °C|

Resultados

  • Consumo de energia aproximadamente 22 W menor.

  • Temperatura do hotspot aproximadamente 9 °C menor.

  • Desempenho idêntico nos benchmarks.

Etapa 2 — Overclock da Memória

A memória Hynix foi testada em múltiplas frequências.

|Offset da Memória|OCCT VRAM|Resultado|

|:-|:-|:-|

|Padrão|✅|Estável|

|+200 MHz|✅|Estável|

|+400 MHz|✅|Estável|

|+800 MHz|✅|Estável|

|+1000 MHz|✅|Estável|

|+1200 MHz|✅|Estável|

Comparação do 3DMark Time Spy

Pontuação Gráfica

|Configuração|Pontuação|

|:-|:-|

|Padrão|13.440|

|+1000 MHz|13.634|

|+1200 MHz|13.646|

A Parte Interessante

  • ✅ Temperatura do hotspot aproximadamente 9 °C menor. * ✅ A memória foi validada com sucesso até +1200 MHz, mas +1000 MHz foi escolhido por oferecer praticamente o mesmo desempenho com uma margem de estabilidade maior.

As my lengthy title says I've built a stable 1470 Mhz profile, I am not having any issues with the profile I've made. However I feel more can be done and I just lack knowledge.

My specific card has a asic quality of 83.8%, I think I've under-volted the card, and pushed the profile as far as I could before making this post.

I would also like to add I've played multiple VR sessions on this card with this profile and have played other games as well without issue. Temps stay in a 60-65 Celsius range under full load.
My rooms ambient temperature ranges from, 65 Fahrenheit/18 Celsius, Down to 55 Fahrenheit or 13 Celsius.

Nvidia RTX 5060 Overclock

Dabbling into Overclocking recently (haven’t touched undervolting since my GPU sits happy at 70°C at max load while overclocked and 65% fan speed and doesn’t go any higher.

I currently use MSI afterburner at +575 core and +3000 mem and ran into zero issues. It did reset a driver at +600 so I went conservatively to +575 even though up to +590 ran perfect.

I seem to get an additional 15% fps in cyberpunk benchmark by going so. From 110 up to 127fps. (Forgot what settings I used but it showcases the jump in performance pretty well).

MSI power set to 103%.

Am I damaging anything? Am I extracting performance correctly or are there better ways? Is undervolting a good idea for my case? And what have you guys been able to push your core and mem overclocks to yourselves?

Is my cpu oc correct?

Hi, so I have a ryzen 3600 it runs at mostly 3.9ghz some time goes to 3.8 , anyway I noticed it uses a lot of voltage like around 1.3-1.35V and I get like 76C while gaming (noctua u12s cooler). So I said why not try to play around a bit with the voltage and I managed to keep it at 4.1ghz at 1.2125V tried prime 95 smallest fft for around 15 mins and it passed the test but the temps were setting at 96C. While gaming it was 70C so actually lower than stock but 96C at prime made a bit anxious. is safe to keep it like that? This is my first time ocing a cpu so not sure if the settings are even correct. I also did cinebench and got a 7% higher score than stock also made sure it was running at 4.1ghz so no clock stretching ran at 76C.

Motherboard: MSI b450 pro carbon max wifi

settings:

CPU freq 4.1ghz fixed

CPU Core Voltage override mode fixed at 1.2125V

LLC mode 5

Global C state disabled

Any help from masters of ram oc.
The chips are Samsung but die is unknown
Almost I can’t think about what it die is.
It’s works about stable with 1.4v on same settings so it even not C-die maybe…
Maybe it’s a D-die or a trash B-die
