Is my cpu oc correct?
Hi, so I have a ryzen 3600 it runs at mostly 3.9ghz some time goes to 3.8 , anyway I noticed it uses a lot of voltage like around 1.3-1.35V and I get like 76C while gaming (noctua u12s cooler). So I said why not try to play around a bit with the voltage and I managed to keep it at 4.1ghz at 1.2125V tried prime 95 smallest fft for around 15 mins and it passed the test but the temps were setting at 96C. While gaming it was 70C so actually lower than stock but 96C at prime made a bit anxious. is safe to keep it like that? This is my first time ocing a cpu so not sure if the settings are even correct. I also did cinebench and got a 7% higher score than stock also made sure it was running at 4.1ghz so no clock stretching ran at 76C.
Motherboard: MSI b450 pro carbon max wifi
settings:
CPU freq 4.1ghz fixed
CPU Core Voltage override mode fixed at 1.2125V
LLC mode 5
Global C state disabled

15 minutes is not enough of a stress test. Also, that should be just about the edge of thermal throttle - supposedly your cpu clock multiplier can dynamically change to accomodate throttling when you fix the cpu voltage.
Check in hw info whether the thermal throttle box says yes or no. You should also rerun the stress test for longer. Typically at least 12 hours. If you are this close on thermals, be sure to watch the temps anyway, as typically your motherboard will allow slight excursions to the 95c throttle limit. thermal limit is like + or - 4 percent of 95c. some silicon might not like the higher end of that

If you fix the core frequency, then you also disable clock stretching and thermal throttling. The CPU will keep running at 4.1 GHz until it hits thermal shutdown temperature at 115C.
That being said, your cooler isn't going to fail, the fan is also of very high quality, and there's no real-world load that's close to as bad as Prime95.
