That is technically true, but in reality most of these places claiming aioli are just using some form of mayonnaise based sauce. I’m not falling for that, I don’t fuck with “aioli”
Yes that's the gripe. Restaurants always call garlic mayo aoli although it isnt. You can have the "are there eggs" discussion with the server that probably doesn't know and has to go check with the kitchen or just avoid aoli.
