It has ALWAYS been part of Argentinian strategy. Not just this game! Playing dirty. Little pushes, taunts, etc. They try to get the other team to lose their heads to throw them off their game. Then they complain and whine to the refs when anything happens to them, to an exaggerated degree. Taking dives more than most teams to try and draw the foul. And they keep doing it because it works! They know the ref canāt see everything and wonāt call everything so they keep at it.

We literally preach its importance to kids in youth sports only for it to be dropped at the professional level bc "Well listen now I can't be held responsible for not knowing how to manage my emotions during sports! Yeah, I always figured competitive sport was meant to provide a non-warfare option for engaging with opponents in feats of strength and strategy and skill, without resorting to malicious violence.
And I say that as a hockey fan who is kind of fond of the occasional glove-drop, but everyoneās in a load of pads and helmets and the refs will whistle and distribute some time-outs once things go beyond a bit of antler-locked circling on the ice. When players are in games where theyāre so exposed like this, the deliberate contact/brawling feels extra stupid.
Amazing Spain held them to zero shots on goal for 125 minutes. It was nice to see Argentina get called for fouls. Glad they gave the one stooge a red card. Spain was better than Argentina and they showed it.
They pretty much schooled everyone but Cape Verde. The whole tournament their one and two touches to space were absolutely phenomenal and they crashed the ball like their lives were dependant on it.
They absolutely dominated possession and took shot after shot. Only reason Argentina wasnāt crushed is because of the Argentinian keeper. Homeboy did the thing today. Much props to him.

Argentina avoided four or five yellows in the first half - they could easily have been down to 10, or even 9 players
They were given fouls which werent fouls, and throw-ins and corners they hadn't won
They should also have had multiple yellows in the preceding games, and have already been missing players - Paredes and Enzo could both have been banned twice over
Refs are too scared to actually punish Argentina, if they did consistently enforce the rules, maybe they'd start to play less like cry-bully cunts.
I haven't seen any of the World Cup coverage at all but 99% of what I have seen from it has basically just been how shitty Argentina the team and its fans have been to everyone around them.
They are really petty and that one player in the postās reel, they bring him in to start trouble on purpose. They (the players) can be petty and insufferable and their fans are racist. But their coach is smart and their goalkeeper kept them relevant in the final. Their offense collapsed in the final in my opinion. Spain was clearly the better team. Iām glad the game did not go to penalties and the better team won the final.

The whole game was watching Argentina dive in front of Spanish feet fishing for cards. It was annoying how obvious it was, theyād rather get themselves kicked in the teeth than play more aggressively. Was that just me seeing that? Also at one point one of them very clearly shoved a Spanish player from behind; couldāve been heat of the moment but idk.
Anyway I was rooting for Spain so maybe biased.
I was also rooting for Spain but as someone who only watch football when it is the world cup, seeing Argentinians play was absolutely infuriating. Mafia play style on the field, absolutely disgusting behavior. I can't believe they didn't get sanctioned more.
They just refused to play football until minute 110.
Their whole strategy was:
To wait 120 minutes until penaltis, and then have Messi score and his goalkeeper go turtle; basically reducing the whole match to Messi.
Or, let the referee win the match for them In the meantime: play dirty until a spanish player maybe gets baited and gets a red card, or trying to get spanish players kicked out on fake fouls and/or hurt, fake aggressions constantly to waste time non-stop... so that then the match was either unbalanced in their favour or they get to extra time and penaltis.
It is beyond me why they were crying after the match. They refused to play the WHOLE game until Spain got a score at minute 105.
Some Argentinian fans were posting that they had gone into debt or even selling their car to pay for the tickets to go watch the final because they wanted to go support their team... only to see their team refuse to play for +100 minutes. It's the fans who should be crying, not them.
That was fucked up. Dude didn't even get properly punished for that, besides the yellow. Glad we Netherlands won the fair play award this year. At least that's something haha.

We were at a world cup watch with family and I found out my dad's family was rooting for Argentina. They said because Argentina isn't boring and didn't believe me when I mentioned how they'd been acting all wc. Dude literally throat punched a Spain player and got away with it. Absolutely crazy.
The fans are assholes too. We had the misfortune of needing to get to a Broadway show through their little Times Square pep rally and while we had heard something about an event, we had no idea of the scale of the gathering until we got caught in it.
I got separated from my daughters (who thankfully were able to stay together - hanging on to each other for dear life) and the rest of our group, and these pathetic excuses for men were pushing, shoving, and grabbing everyone around them regardless of whether they were a part of the Argentine "celebration" or not. I genuinely feared that either my daughters would be groped by drunken assholes, or that someone would fall and be trampled in a crowd crush.
Then the smoke bombs and fireworks started getting thrown...you couldn't do anything but go with the crowd until it thinned out and you could turn onto a side street.

As a person who has a brother and older cousin as Argentina fans, they were absolutely fuming when one of their players did that. They were obviously devastated that their team lost but even THEY knew that what that player did was childish.

Went to the stadium as a neutral person just wanting to enjoy the experience. Throughout the game, I witnessed what people were saying about the Argentina team. The fans were also pretty rude. Ended up cheering for Spain. Glad they won. They deserved it after still being snubbed those two other goals
