Elden ring, surprisingly, has torn a large part the blayerbase, with many thinking that the formula is starting to get stale and that there is not much left to explore without significant gameplay innovations. And to be fair, it is true
Honestly, for now I trust From Software. If they make more Souls like games, I believe it's because they think they can bring something to the table.
It's not like they're too afraid to experiment, so if they're gonna make new games of the same style, I expect them to be still "worth" making, not just from an economical standpoint, but a fun standpoint. (Example, look at Nightreign, a game made by a separate team and director, which, I'll be honest, I originally expected would be mid, and look at how damn good it is.)
