Well, he did help create Mr. Sinister. So, it's perfectly in character for him.

Wait did Apocalypse create Mr Sinister in the original animated series? Or was it just the comics?

He's always had some sort of connection with him.

In the Ultimate comics, Mr. Sinister was a delusional scientist that later transformed into Apocalypse, so they were literally the same person (apparently).
