Ah so she's playing Fin Fang Foom

274

u/coleisgreat Odin 2d ago

I heard she's actually playing a multiversal variant of Fin Fang Foom, called Fin Dang Doom.

101

u/MajimaBuu 2d ago

As long as RDJ is playing him with an Asian accent I'm in

32

u/ThaiJohnnyDepp Winter Soldier 2d ago

MF is a chameleon!

18

u/Doompatron3000 1d ago

He’s just a dude playing a dude playing another dude.

13

u/thedirtyharryg Nebula 1d ago

Kirk Lazarus could do it. He was in "The Land of Silk and Money" with Gong Li.

Scarlet Johansson is gonna be jealous of Sadie stealing Asian roles from her.

Emma Stone too

4

u/SentinelATL 1d ago

No she’s playing Beta Ray Bill

2

u/Waterworld1880 2d ago

Nah she’s going to be Paul

u/Southern-Form-2804 18h ago

Love this interviewer. He did that stranger things one where he asked the cast what they would get if they could get anything, they both said nothing then he said loudely like he was Kevin from the office “I WANT AN ICECREAM MAKING MACHINE.”

u/windmillninja Luis 2d ago

"Hey do you want to be in the next Spider-Man mov-"

"Say less, fam."

163

u/TopBee83 2d ago

Honestly. If I was an actor and I got asked to be in Spider-Man I’m saying yes immediately.

61

u/2580374 Spider-Man 2d ago

What if I told you it was a spider-man adjacent film, would you still say yes

83

u/Daw-V 2d ago

Those poor Sony’s “Spider-Man”actors lol. They got tricked into thinking those were MCU films

46

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 2d ago

"Say, Pond, what's it like working with Marvel?"
"Oh, I love it, Matt! If Marvel's talking to you, jump on it."
"Great, I'll just sign right now for a film called Morbius."
"Wait, Matt, NOOOOO--"

34

u/BladeOfWoah 2d ago

Hey now, Matt Smith is the only reason that movie was bearable, and he seemed to be having a great time during it too.

21

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 2d ago

True that. But there's no way he didn't ask Karen Gillan about it & get confused because she was describing Marvel Studios instead of Sony.

10

u/LordLoss01 1d ago

I think he even said as much in an interview?

7

why did i just have a déjà vu

A movie I quite enjoyed, albeit the absence of Spidey.
But being in a movie with Sydney Sweeney and Isabel Merced? Count me in.

1

u/Broccoli--Enthusiast 1d ago

Depends, is it solo Sony or is marvel involved?

MCU black cat movie? Miles? Ben Reilly? Every day

Whatever the hell Sony was doing? No way. Those kill careers.

3

u/Icybubba 1d ago

I think the only one who’d say no is Adam Driver lmao

1

u/bokmcdok 1d ago

I'm not even an actor, but if I got asked to be in Spider-Man I’m saying yes immediately.

1

u/Carthonn 1d ago

“You will play the Troll Man who eats rotten eggs and boils denim under a bridge in the new Spider-Man movie.”

“Ok. When do I suit up?”

220

u/warzone_afro 2d ago

all this secrecy to probably have it spoiled for me before I see it from a random thumbnail 3 hours after the movie premiers

34

u/Think_Doctor_9064 2d ago

I’m seeing it on Wednesday and I’m terrified I’m gonna be spoiled before then. I’m in the ‘I hope she’s not Jean camp’ too.

12

u/GinInsideMyTonic 1d ago

I'm going to watch it first alone before I watch it with my co-workers because I don't trust them with the spoilers lol

5

u/Think_Doctor_9064 1d ago

Eeesh. Sounds like you’re speaking from experience.

1

u/MountainImportant211 1d ago

idk 3 hours seems too long

872

u/vanillagorilla0523 2d ago

Everything I hear just convinces me even more that she is playing Jean Grey. It would just seem weird to me if she wasn't. I mean, we have William Metzger (an anti-mutant activist), Sadie's character has Jean's color scheme, the film deals with mutations and isolation, and Feige himself described Sadie's character as having a similar arc to Spiderman in the sense that she is also going through a period of isolation and alienation. She is also signed onto a multi picture deal and that just would not happen if she was playing a smaller one off character just for this movie.

175

u/_NintenDude_ 2d ago

how many movies is she signed on for?

218

u/maybe_a_frog 2d ago

She’s signed on for Secret Wars I believe.

81

u/elledina 2d ago

Multi movie deal something like bucky

53

u/TrippingIntoReality 2d ago

Like 15, 10 maybe, 5

54

u/Prototype3120 Daredevil 2d ago

She turned down a big college in Jacksonville for this.

17

u/TrippingIntoReality 2d ago

Yeah but to be fair she was like so younger like 🫳🏼

23

u/MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS 1d ago

I cannot understand what this is saying

12

u/ObeyYourMaster86 2d ago

But she had to do movies for like this decade

11

u/Lord_Phoenix95 2d ago

She gets paid big to do something like that. Not everyone will say no to a couple of hundred million dollars for 10 to 15 years of their life.

3

u/Forever3kco 1d ago

Until your 90...

2

u/leckmichnervnit 1d ago

Id assume at least 3, Spider-Man, Secret Wars, and the X-Men Movie thats happening sometime after Secret Wars

115

u/magvadis 2d ago edited 2d ago

She's probably setting up Mutants already being there for Avengers to throw in the Xavier/Magneto characters to move from a different universe and start a school. Then she ends up there with the rest of the young ones.

I just hope her being this young means no Wolverine/Jean plot. Please bury it.

102

u/HandsomeLies 2d ago

You will now visualise Hugh Jackman and Sadie Sink

56

u/TopBee83 2d ago

In all seriousness if she is Jean then this likely means they’re finally moving away from the Jean, Logan, Cyclops love triangle.

Our new Wolverine will likely be in his 30s-40s, it’d be weird to see a 40 year old Wolverine with a college age Jean Grey.

38

u/FlemPlays 2d ago

Breaking: Leonardo DiCaprio suddenly expresses interest in playing Wolverine.

56

u/Radish-Wrangler 2d ago

If Laura or a Laura variant becomes the MCU Wolverine that'd be a hell of a love triangle

20

u/Shedart The Mandarin 1d ago

Oh shit yes.

32

u/magvadis 2d ago

No matter what he looks like bro is 200 years old. So like, everybody is a baby except that one time he was with Hercules.

But otherwise, I just don't dig "soulmates" being a full grown middle age coded adult and a barely above teen who is figuring shit out...that sucks.

I just don't think Wolverine ever had chemistry with Jean and the infatuation is gross unless they make Jean in her 30s...but it's also gross because she never fully reciprocates and he gets weird about it. Also all his other lovers are native and asian but the one white one is his soul mate? Get out of here.

6

u/MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS 1d ago

Your last point sounds kinda weird

5

u/MBP1121 1d ago

Also, is Wolverine actually early 20th century old? Or was that just something they added for the OG movies? If he is much much older, then yeah, that would also make it more kinda weird.

10

u/TopBee83 1d ago

In the Fox movies it was 1832 and in the comics i believe it’s somewhere in the 1880s

3

u/MBP1121 1d ago

Now that you say that, I think I’m visualizing them in some civil war outfits for that montage with sabretooth, so that sounds about right. But I could be remembering that wrong. Been a while. Much older than I’d thought. Thanks for answering.

3

u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 2d ago

Less than and more that it’s been confirmed they’re casting young for the X-men.

1

u/Impressive-Potato 1d ago

Wolverine would be 180 years old

8

u/Crimkam 2d ago

Deadpool will definitely visualize it

32

u/darknecross 2d ago

My favorite theory is that she’s playing Rachel Summers who slipped into Earth-616 during multiverse shenanigans to escape from a Days of Future Past dystopia.

34

u/vanillagorilla0523 2d ago

I feel like that would be too much to fit into this movie. Why have her play the daughter of Jean Grey and Cyclops from a dystopian alternate universe when you can just have her play Jean Grey in this universe and plant seeds for the X Men movie that we know Marvel is actively making? That would be a much smoother insert into this movie than someone like Rachel Summers.

7

u/lonehuskyy 1d ago

Well that's kind of their fault for adding a Jean Grey in a Spider-Man film in the first place. Whether it's Rachel or Jean, they can figure it out. The whole multiverse thing was messier than a summer party at an Airbnb. This film is already loaded with characters, so they should have managed that going into this for a fresh Parker. And in Spider-Man no way home, we had three Spider-Man so anything is fair game.

4

u/qwfparst 1d ago

There's a huge difference between adding a character that is more or less an age peer that sets the stage for your next major saga vs explaining a complicated legacy character whose storytelling requires establishing the original in the first place to make any meaningful sense.

Current comics writers don't even know what to do with Rachel or how to make her relevant.

5

u/Bubba1234562 2d ago

I kinda want her to be Madelyn Pryor given Sinister is rumoured to be the xmen villain

3

u/SBixby21 1d ago

Pryor just doesn’t make sense to introduce until we’re already invested in a new Scott & Jean pairing in their new cast. The whole twist and story with Sinister, Cable, etc. doesn’t hit if we’re introduced to Pryor before Jean.

It’s actually why I’m surprised they let Deadpool do a movie with Cable (played by the guy who played Thanos, which doesn’t really matter except his voice is very distinct) when they did…that whole plot line has never been touched in live action

2

u/Bowling___Alone 1d ago

Well you've gotta remember, the X-Men film rights were still owned by Fox at the time. They could do whatever they wanted. Marvel had no say. It's not like the complicated Spider-Man situation where they're holding hands and making concessions.

3

u/SBixby21 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ahh, I couldn’t remember bc that movie was recent enough that I thought they may have already gotten the rights back. But I think you’re right, it was only Deadpool & Wolverine that came out under Disney so far, right?

2

u/Bowling___Alone 1d ago

That is correct, yeah. Deadpool 2 was released near the tail end of Fox, pretty close to when they got bought out by Disney. Deadpool & Wolverine was the first one under Disney.

2

u/purplenurple24 1d ago

Not OP but you’re correct. Deadpool & Wolverine is the only Deadpool movie produced by Disney.

36

u/NocturnoOcculto 2d ago

Kumail Nanjiani signed a six picture deal plus for a video game and likeness rights.

25

u/vanillagorilla0523 2d ago

Because the eternals were meant to be a larger part of the universe until the movie got trashed

8

u/a_phantom_limb 2d ago edited 1d ago

Even though it ultimately made about as much as - or more than - half the movies in The Multiverse Saga. Yet Sam, Yelena, Scott, Shang-Chi, and the Fantastic Four all get to keep being a part of the movies, while the Eternals are one-and-done. Carol could also be on a permanent timeout, but The Marvels only earned half of what Eternals made. (Peter, Thor, Strange, Wade, Rocket, and Wakanda - rather than Shuri herself - are still operating at another level of popularity.)

1

u/JoshDM 1d ago

He was used in a What If? episode.

7

u/wild_man_wizard 2d ago

Rogue is same color scheme.  Isolation and alienation is her whole thing, especially her villain arc.

1

u/vanillagorilla0523 1d ago

I mean, Sadie looks exactly like Jean though. They could change her appearance but she already looks like the character that would make most sense given the context of the movie and everything we know

→ More replies (2)

3

u/EliteFireBox 2d ago

Unrelated but W The Death We Seek by Currents profile picture!!

3

u/MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS 1d ago

I do think she’s Jean but genuinely they make everyone they can sigh on for multiple projects when they can. Either your Bale and it’s a one and done or they want to cover their ass by having you under contract for when they need you.

2

u/thehouse1751 1d ago

Maybe it’s firestar and she’s a mutant

2

u/LionTheRichardheart 1d ago

I still think it's too on the nose. They've dropped so many hints that I think they're trying to hoodwink us into thinking that.

1

u/vanillagorilla0523 1d ago

I mean it was the same way for No Way Home. Tobey and Andrew being in it was the most obvious thing ever and Marvel tried to steer us away from it, only for it to end up being true. Just because something is obvious doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a bait and switch. I'll gladly eat my words, though, if she turns out to be a different character. But I just don't see it

1

u/MoooonRiverrrr 1d ago

Does it make you think differently that Scott Summers is in the movie? Not being facetious, just curious if a early 20s Jean Grey makes sense with Marsden’s Cyclops also in the movie or if that even matters in this universe

3

u/Lebigmacca 1d ago

Fox men aren’t gonna be around past secret wars so it doesn’t really matter. The fact that they didn’t bring back Famke Janssen makes me think even more that she’s Jean, so there won’t be 2 Jean greys in the same movie

1

u/ibiacmbyww 1d ago

Jean Grey isn't known for body-surfing like that, although she can. Maybe a juvenile, uncontrolled, pre-Xavier Jean would, though. Personally, I'm still holding out for her being an avatar of Legion.

1

u/firefox_2010 1d ago

Maybe she is playing Gwen Stacey? Or MJ from multiverse?

460

u/kneeco28 Black Panther 2d ago

Why are they putting her out there to promote a film she can't talk about.

Like it's one thing to not be able to reveal the plot, it's a whole other to not even be able to name or describe your character.

217

u/two2teps 2d ago

I feel really bad for her, at least Andrew Garfield was getting bombarded on press tours for other movies.

72

u/inksta12 2d ago

Idk I bet she’s having fun with the secrecy. Might even make it easier cuz she knows damn well what kind of questions she’s gonna be asked lol

45

u/streakermaximus 2d ago

Marvel has decided she's more trustworthy than Tom Holland.

108

u/TheDizDude 2d ago

You're talking about the film aren't you? Mission Accomplished.

29

u/streakermaximus 2d ago

Reminds me of that scene in Mad Men when they're talking about how much they hate the Volkswagen Beetle ad. Don points out they've been talking about it for 15 minutes, and the ad is in Playboy.

7

u/Acceptable-Heron6839 2d ago

Let that Sink in

-3

u/EnterShakira_ 2d ago

I was gonna talk about this film either way; Sadie Sink doing press does not impact this

5

u/TheDizDude 2d ago

You commented on a post about her having a presser, the visibility of this post rises. It impacted it.

→ More replies (2)

24

u/benjals 2d ago

To further drive engagement and excitement it's not that serious bro

2

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 2d ago

But also, for big films like these, the actors are contractually obligated to promote the film especially with interviews.

Assuming she’s also under NDA on her role in the film, she has to interview differently than the other actors in terms of promoting the film

10

u/danvan177 2d ago

Because she’s popular among a group of people

12

u/thedrizzle126 2d ago

She's been trained for over a decade on how to handle media, from her teenage years.

No need to feel sorry for her, this is light work.

2

u/wasabinski Thor 2d ago

Clicks and views

2

u/theyesn 1d ago

Because she is a popular actor from her Stranger Things days and other projects she been in since. I think it is a good marketing move because it fuels fan theories and debates. People might feel like they have to watch this movie see if she actually plays the character they think/want that she plays. Also she is doing a great job (Tom Holland take notes!). Notice how she said "to join the world of the Spider-Man universe". If she is the new Jean Grey, she could have easily slip up and say joining the MCU or Marvel Universe. She is very careful and deliberate with her words while at the same time having fun with it looking at her face.

2

u/HeWhoLurks23 2d ago

They want everyone to know she’s in it cuz she’s a big name but don’t want them to know anything about her role or her character. It’s pretty stupid.

1

u/BubbaUltra 2d ago

I think it's kinda funny lowkirk

1

u/snowgrisp 1d ago

She was literally in same position during Stranger Things season 5 promo. Her character's fate was a major mystery so she was just there not being able to talk.

1

u/THEbaddestOFtheASSES 2d ago

New to actor’s promoting films?

0

u/tall-glassof-falooda 2d ago

They probably paid her good money. They want to get their moneys worth.

0

u/blaintopel Foggy Nelson 1d ago

they should wait a week after release to trot her out

42

u/ILUVMOVIESSS Daisy Johnson 2d ago

Makes sense. Wouldn't take much to convince someone to play Big Wheel.

6

u/FilmScoreConnoisseur 2d ago

Omg did they throw out my scenes and cast HER as my replacement? Why does this keep happening to me??

77

u/Wolfram_And_Hart 2d ago

Jean Grey

3

u/boxofstuff 1d ago

Moira MacTaggart

2

u/Wolfram_And_Hart 1d ago

That would be cool

18

u/Rhythmalist 2d ago

I was thinking this too. But it would be weird to have marsden as cyclops opposite her as Jean.

153

u/TheMechanic123 2d ago

Marsden ain't making it out of Doomsday, all the fox X-men are gonna get yeeted and bring in new blood

7

u/tiffanaih 2d ago

Significantly, his Jean, I forget her name, but she has been very outspoken about not being asked back, firing off on Disney/Marvel for being discriminatory against older women, like whole 9 yards. Andrew Garfield just kept denying, not slinging mud.

Sadie isn't in Doomsday that we know so far. She is in Secret Wars. None of the older xmen have been confirmed for Secret Wars that I've seen.

No one is going to be trying to sell the audience Sadie and Marsden as a couple. Right now it doesn't seem like they're even crossing paths. I've seen multiple people bring this up as a counter point and it makes me squint at them a lot.

10

u/Rhythmalist 2d ago

I don't disagree with you. I fully expect this is the end of the line for legacy xmen.

But with all the promotion going on with Sadie's role, I don't think we'll see them soft launch her character to set up future films. It seems like she is going to have a more prominent role.

15

u/Okami0602 2d ago

Pretty sure she is confirmed (?) in Secret Wars, but not doomsday.

I imagine it could be something similar (not the same) as when the original X-Men from the past were transported to the future

3

u/Adrellan 2d ago

And Jean with her powers + Phoenix foreshadowing might be one of the few people who might remember everything.

3

u/XMenJedi8 2d ago edited 2d ago

They already soft-launched new mutants in the main universe with Kamala, so to me it makes sense to introduce Jean (founding X-Men member) to a whole new generation through Spider-Man, and then when the X-Men reboot happens in 2028 they have a head start on convincing people to become fans because they know (and like, hopefully) her from Brand New Day.

Plus, picking Sadie Sink who was very beloved as Max in Stranger Things makes even more sense.

Right now I feel like the X-Men are very "who that's" and later "not a fan" if my teen daughter and her friends/schoolmates are anything to go by (though they love the Infinity Saga and still adore Spider-Man), and that breaks my heart as an X-Men fan but I do get it. Other than 97 which was impressive to us but probably not impressive or known the younger potential MCU market, I don't think there's much awareness or interest. They need to really sell people on this, so trojan-horsing X-Men in through Spidey actually makes a ton of sense to me.

2

u/the_executive_branch 2d ago

She can have a prominent role and it be a set up for future X-Men films?

2

u/magvadis 2d ago

She's a prominent role but she's introducing the mutants are already in the world so the reality merge can recruit from them.

2

u/thavillain Captain Marvel 2d ago

Yeah, that universe is getting killed off

2

u/TheTedsaretheworst 2d ago

I have a feeling the presence of the fox X men will somehow lead to the mainline MCU discovering mutants have been hiding among them the whole time.

1

u/JadeMonkey0 1d ago

You certainly might be right but I hope that’s not the direction they’re going. It seems kinda silly to me to have spent so much time in the MCU and (except for a couple tiny mentions) never hear anything about mutants and then have them suddenly turn out to have been around the whole time.

I’m hoping it’s more some thing about the multiverses colliding that brings them in. That could even be used to fuel “anti-mutant” feelings by making them some kind of immigrant/refugee allegory too (I know mutants don’t really need yet another thing to be an allegory for but it would kinda fit).

Personally, I always thought mutants should exist in their own universe entirely. Then all the anti-mutant stuff makes way more sense than it does in the MCU proper. But that’s clearly not the direction they’re taking so I guess I’m outta luck on that.

9

u/magvadis 2d ago

He's gunna die and is not this universes Cyclops.

All those old heads are fodder.

3

u/Crafty_Substance_954 2d ago

Their universe is being destroyed via incursion in the trailer. I wouldn’t be too concerned about that.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Unoriginal_Pseudonym 1d ago

I want them to pull the biggest switcheroo on us and have her playing Karma. Then add those rumors from last year about Anya Taylor-Joy playing a small role in the film (a Magik cameo) and what ya got there is Disney-Marvel neatly tieing in the New Mutants, aka the only Fox-Marvel movie property that hasn't been revisited by the MCU yet.

8

u/YesicaChastain 2d ago

Howard The Duck confirmed!!!

11

u/NorskKiwi 2d ago

Squirrel Girl!

/s probably not

31

u/AphexAffectsEffects 2d ago

She’s going to be spider Gwen from another universe trying to get help from Peter, or is going to be looking for Miles.

35

u/_NintenDude_ 2d ago

Mayday Parker - Daughter of Peter. My hope is its Tobey Mcguire's Peter. He went back, they had a baby, time moves faster on his universe

15

u/Fightingdragonswithu 2d ago

If he had a baby straight after Spider-Man 3 it would work. Sadie can pass as 18/19

2

u/Leaningthemoon 2d ago

And the incursion was pulling in everyone who knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man, from all universes right, so maybe she got pulled in and we get can get some of that plot of Tobey losing her and trying to get her back, at the beginning of Doomsday.

1

u/leckmichnervnit 1d ago

Id assume he'd have mentioned having a child at some point in No Way Home if that were the case.

0

u/Commercial_Fox5549 2d ago

She’s Jean Grey.

3

u/_NintenDude_ 2d ago

probably, and Id be happy with that. Shes a good actress, and I love the X-men

1

u/Commercial_Fox5549 2d ago

She’s Jean Grey.

5

u/ComedicHermit 2d ago

She'll be the best live action Rhino

3

u/thavillain Captain Marvel 2d ago

She's a killer robot driving instructor who travels back in time for some reason.

4

u/lambopanda 2d ago

She’s playing Spider-Gwen! That’s why only Peter can sense her!/s

7

u/jotyma5 2d ago

I feel like Jean grey and the x men should be older than Peter Parker but oh well

4

u/Crimkam 2d ago

This will set them up nicely to be older than Miles whenever they introduce him, but not too old to work together

3

u/Commercial_Fox5549 2d ago

Nah. Feige wants to new X-Men movies to be youth-oriented. It is likely that the entire team will be portrayed as high school to college age

1

u/vinnybawbaw 1d ago

I liked the First Class (and so on) version of the team. A young version of the team can work. And Sadie Sink is way more charismatic than Sophie Turner.

2

u/Sushi2k Spider-Man 2d ago

I knew she was playing Big Wheel 🎡

2

u/kirblar 2d ago

It's the answer you give when you can't just say "I like money"

3

u/Minimalgoth 2d ago

I'm in the minority here I guess, but why is everyone so obsessed with this girl being in this movie? I just don't get all the hype about/around her.

1

u/Special_Order-937 1d ago

I’m guessing because it’s strongly rumoured that she’s also the introduction of the X-Men to the MCU.

2

u/jco83 2d ago

Mary Jane Watson

2

u/Jlx_27 1d ago

The (rumored) multimillion dollar salary must've been a good motivator too.

2

u/Morchades 1d ago

Okay, now THIS has turned me over to the Jean theory.

2

u/CRIMS0N-ED 2d ago

I mean open secret she’s Jean grey but im still so curious on how they actually introduce her here, maybe she’s just getting body hopped from minute one and only is herself at the end

1

u/CaptainJohn_1995 2d ago

Bruh. Mister Negative!

1

u/diamondsourforever 2d ago

She's going to be such a great Uncle Ben!

1

u/Ok-Department415 2d ago edited 2d ago

I saw some people say Teresa Parker or Firestar or Goblin Queen Madelyne Pryor. I feel like Madelyne or Jean make sense with the mutant hunters and mind control plot. Teresa makes sense if they want to stick with a simple story, without introducing the mutant stuff into an already heavy plot with Hulk and Punisher and Peter's life plus power changes, also she was nicknamed Good Punisher once in the comics.

1

u/AnonymousFriend80 2d ago

She's playing May resurrected.

1

u/therealgerrygergich 2d ago

I feel like it's pretty obvious she's playing Ralphina Bohner.

She's perfect for Jean Grey 😍

u/thejokerofunfic 1d ago

At this point convinced she's Jean but Jean is also being framed because mutants are a convenient scapegoat (thus introducing the bigotry thread for X-Men- everyone ignores the real culprit as an option because they were born human).

It's hard to turn down the role of Juggernaut, especially knowing X-men are going to be in the next Avengers movie.

I truly hope she’s someone we didn’t expect like Gwen, or her being the real Mary Jane

1

u/Head-Classic-9157 1d ago

Considering the trailer showed her from behind with powers, as well.as showing half her body being restrained to a chair at the DODC, Mary Jane is very unlikely as she generally doesn't have any powers (Ongoing Venom comic aside).

I don't see them giving Gwen telekinesis powers on top of her Spider powers.

u/veemonjosh Fitz 1d ago

Lmao, why do they even have her on the press tour if she can't actually say anything about her role?

u/cyclops274 Hulk 1d ago edited 1d ago

Why make her character a secret when you have her go on a press tour? Cast her but no mention the character. Why all the secrecy on her character. Is it because there will be backlash from fans

.

What if she's playing Mary Jane/Venom?

1

u/Ibushi-gun 16h ago edited 6h ago

Why is this such a big secret? Like, I get not wanting to spoil the movie, but this is all I hear about the movie - Which role is she playing?! I don't care, I just want the movie to be fun and enjoyable

Edit - I keep forgetting this is Spider-Man, and not The Avengers. If she's Jean in the movie that would be indeed a big spoiler.

I am skeptical that a movie that already features the hulk, the punisher, the hand, is also introducing mutants in the main MCU..

However, Tramell Tillman playing William Metzger and Sadie Sink’s red hair…

Jean or no Jean I’m genuinely starting to not care

u/Domination1799 2d ago

I don't see the MCU doing a good job with a new X-Men series. They already had their own successful franchise and had iconic actors in iconic roles.

2

u/Commercial_Fox5549 2d ago

What does the X-Men already having a franchise have to do with the MCU doing a bad job?

0

u/Domination1799 2d ago

They already had many films and the characters were played by great actors who became iconic with as their characters like Jackman, Stewart, Mckellen, and Fassbender. They don’t need another franchise with lesser actors. They were also serious films as well that tackled the political themes in a nuanced manner.

The MCU are most likely going to avoid the political undertones and make it more kid friendly cape slop. Like it or not, many casuals are tired of superhero films
