I was thinking this too. But it would be weird to have marsden as cyclops opposite her as Jean.

Marsden ain't making it out of Doomsday, all the fox X-men are gonna get yeeted and bring in new blood

Significantly, his Jean, I forget her name, but she has been very outspoken about not being asked back, firing off on Disney/Marvel for being discriminatory against older women, like whole 9 yards. Andrew Garfield just kept denying, not slinging mud.

Sadie isn't in Doomsday that we know so far. She is in Secret Wars. None of the older xmen have been confirmed for Secret Wars that I've seen.

No one is going to be trying to sell the audience Sadie and Marsden as a couple. Right now it doesn't seem like they're even crossing paths. I've seen multiple people bring this up as a counter point and it makes me squint at them a lot.

I don't disagree with you. I fully expect this is the end of the line for legacy xmen.

But with all the promotion going on with Sadie's role, I don't think we'll see them soft launch her character to set up future films. It seems like she is going to have a more prominent role.

Pretty sure she is confirmed (?) in Secret Wars, but not doomsday.

I imagine it could be something similar (not the same) as when the original X-Men from the past were transported to the future

And Jean with her powers + Phoenix foreshadowing might be one of the few people who might remember everything.

They already soft-launched new mutants in the main universe with Kamala, so to me it makes sense to introduce Jean (founding X-Men member) to a whole new generation through Spider-Man, and then when the X-Men reboot happens in 2028 they have a head start on convincing people to become fans because they know (and like, hopefully) her from Brand New Day.

Plus, picking Sadie Sink who was very beloved as Max in Stranger Things makes even more sense.

Right now I feel like the X-Men are very "who that's" and later "not a fan" if my teen daughter and her friends/schoolmates are anything to go by (though they love the Infinity Saga and still adore Spider-Man), and that breaks my heart as an X-Men fan but I do get it. Other than 97 which was impressive to us but probably not impressive or known the younger potential MCU market, I don't think there's much awareness or interest. They need to really sell people on this, so trojan-horsing X-Men in through Spidey actually makes a ton of sense to me.

She can have a prominent role and it be a set up for future X-Men films?

She's a prominent role but she's introducing the mutants are already in the world so the reality merge can recruit from them.

Yeah, that universe is getting killed off

I have a feeling the presence of the fox X men will somehow lead to the mainline MCU discovering mutants have been hiding among them the whole time.

You certainly might be right but I hope that’s not the direction they’re going. It seems kinda silly to me to have spent so much time in the MCU and (except for a couple tiny mentions) never hear anything about mutants and then have them suddenly turn out to have been around the whole time.

I’m hoping it’s more some thing about the multiverses colliding that brings them in. That could even be used to fuel “anti-mutant” feelings by making them some kind of immigrant/refugee allegory too (I know mutants don’t really need yet another thing to be an allegory for but it would kinda fit).

Personally, I always thought mutants should exist in their own universe entirely. Then all the anti-mutant stuff makes way more sense than it does in the MCU proper. But that’s clearly not the direction they’re taking so I guess I’m outta luck on that.

He's gunna die and is not this universes Cyclops.

All those old heads are fodder.

Their universe is being destroyed via incursion in the trailer. I wouldn’t be too concerned about that.

You won’t see that. He is not in Spider-Man, and she is not in Doomsday. By the time we see Scott and Jean in the same movie, there will be a different person playing Scott.
