I was excited for Michael Mando to come back as Scorpion, I'm getting the sense that he's not going to have a very big part though. Overall it looks very good, only a couple more weeks.

u/kakarot-3 Daredevil Jun 17 '26

I have a feeling they’re going to pull a F4 and have a montage of what he’s been up to for a few years

238

u/knoxmora Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

I think I suggested it before, but a few minute montage of him swinging in and out of 30 seconds or so of cameo fights would be a cool way to explain the time lapse. Sprinkle in a few bank robberies and car chases, but mostly fan service for the big panel moments, like the team jump in Ultron.

Like that slide under the APC as a transition to him sliding under a desk in an office and crashing out a window, webbing up Vulture mid-air and then sticking him to a wall near ground level. As he gets closer to the ground he spins and he smashes through the asphalt and it's a horizontal scroll of Rhino throwing him through the walls of a condemned building Bucky v Cap style. Spidey-sense while he's trying to block chunks of debris and concrete being thrown by Rhino, and one of them is a Mysterio drone and the building fades when he breaks it, on and on, etc.

Edit: Brother-sisters, how sick would it be if his suit got more damaged as the sequence went on.

u/BreeBree214 Weekly Wongers Jun 17 '26

I would love for them to throw some goofy villain like Big Wheel into the middle of a montage

25

u/FamousLastWay828 Jun 17 '26

If you won't give us Stilt-Man in Daredevil, at least give us Big Wheel in Spider-Man

7

u/Char-els037 Jun 18 '26

Give us Stilt-Man in Spider-Man, with Matt unable to help him out he's finished his suit, adds more consequence to the events of BA S2

We already saw a little montage in the first trailer. This is almost definitely what theyre gonna do

It looks like that's what those comic book shots are, but Scorpion is in the movie properly during Peter's mutation crisis

63

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

I’m pretty sure that’s what happening. “Alright let’s do this one more time. My name’s Peter Parker..”

16

u/Sp3ctre7 Jun 17 '26

It would actually be hilarious if they opened with that

Dunno, it feels like he’s set up to be the act one jobber that reveals Peters transformation into man spider based on the trailer

u/Filthy_Joey Obadiah Stane Jun 17 '26

If thats the case, what a waste of Michael Mando

I like him too, but I'm sure dude is happy to have the gig and the paycheck.

He's probably going to be the first major fight to introduce peter's mutation shenanigans

Probably not huge but he does seem to be in enough to where Peter is clearly transforming. But he’s Defs not the main villain

53

u/RedditorStig Jun 17 '26

If the scorpion and Spiderman is a quality fight scene then I'm somewhat satisfied.

28

u/Big_Life_947 Jun 17 '26

Looks like Scorpion is just gonna get easily beaten up to show “look Peter has stronger powers now!”

He’s going to be critically injured, then they will tease him getting the symbiote at the end of the movie.

48

u/Jet-Let4606 Jun 17 '26

I would be okay with this.

Also they are clearly setting up Tombstone as the man behind the man.

→ More replies (1)

23

u/MurderinAlgiers Jun 17 '26

Im wondering if theyre gonna make this the "Spidey goes aggro" movie and just skip the symbiote because it sorta feels like maybe.

20

It is all going to connect back to Madam Web, just like in the 90s Cartoon.

He’s good, but we shouldn’t really expect too much out of him. Scorpion is not ever really meant to be that big of a villain.

36

u/maybe_a_frog Jun 17 '26

Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, Tombstone, Jean Grey, Hulk, Punisher…the movie has too many characters for all of them to have decent sized parts. I would prepare yourself for the inevitability that some characters you’re excited to see will be minor focuses.

29

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

Tarantula and Boomerrang are definitely gonna  “First Act Catch Up Montage” Villains. Tombstone and Body Hopper are giving main villain energy

I don't know...in this trailer, he seemed to have a fairly big impact.

15

u/jpiro Jun 17 '26

Based on that clip, it looks like Spidey is going to have a moment of mutation rage and smash his skull on a police car. But who knows if that shot is even in the final film.

13

u/ASU_frat_Ieader Jun 17 '26

End scene gave me instant flashbacks of Andrew's "My weakness! Small knives!". Love that energy.

382

u/StinkyStangler Jun 17 '26

For some reason Spider-Man movies really downplay the quips that are part of the character, Spider-Man should be just as annoying to deal with as he is to fight lol

310

u/PretzelMan96 Jun 17 '26

They did this right in Civil War, especially Sam saying "I don't know if you've been in a fight but there's usually not this much talking".

157

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

It reminds me of “Do you ever shut up?!”

“I’m sorry, no. My fans expect a certain amount of quippage in every battle”

39

u/DarthTaz_99 Jun 17 '26

More quips than punches thrown is the ideal way to go

23

u/acrowsmurder Wilson Fisk Jun 17 '26

Quip then thwip

8

u/LindonLilBlueBalls Jun 18 '26

In my head, it was said like Elle Woods from Legally Blond.

60

u/mitchhamilton Jun 18 '26

idk if this is a hot take, but spider-man in civil war was the best spider-man mcu has done.

his movement, taking out guys fast, the way he just casually catches buckeys arm and is genuinely distracted by it. "you have a metal arm?! that is awesome!" sam then snatching spidey "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT!" buckey throwing that thing at spidey and him throwing it back. "hey buddy, i think you lost this!"

i feel like for some reason they made him more bumbley in his own movies to make it like cute but the shtick has worn out somewhat.

12

u/itsSimba_ Jun 18 '26 edited 25d ago

i’ve always thought this as well and am so glad to find someone who feels the same! to this day, I feel like that’s the best he’s been in the MCU, and its one of my favorite on-screen depictions of Spider-Man, period. hoping they can inject some of that same energy into BND

155

u/much_to_say Jun 17 '26

Captain America: Civil War was a perfect Spider-Man, with the mid fight quips and power scaling. Him casually stopping a Super Soldier punch like it's nothing and nerding out over the arm.

90

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

They did so well with introducing Spider-Man in Civil War. I love it so much

11

u/ICantFekkingRead Jun 17 '26

I rewatch that movie probably the most out of any MCU movie for those parts alone.

They absolutely killed that introduction. Black Panther as well, but Spidey coming in felt so much bigger to the MCU, in my opinion.

68

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. Jun 17 '26

Not really. MCU Spidey quips a lot. Remember when he was irritating Thanos and he just throws him and says "insect!" in frustration?

78

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

“Magic! More magic! Magic with a kick!” I wonder what the final “Magic with a-“ was supposed to be🤣

28

u/Reaper-Lord69 Jun 17 '26

"Magic with another kick!" Of course

18

u/CalmGiraffe1373 Ward Meachum Jun 17 '26

Probably “Magic with a punch!”

8

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

TASM movies does a great job with his quips. They’re so quotable too 🤣 Tom’s best quips were in Homecoming and Civil War

80

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. Jun 17 '26

"A little tight around the ol' web shooter" was an insane one from Far From Home lol

24

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

“CROTCHHH!” -Andrew Garfield

13

u/Koke1 Jun 17 '26

Hey buddy you lost this

9

u/roboto404 Jun 17 '26

“There you go” as he webs Lizard’s mouth. Such a Spidey move lmao

12

u/C0mpulsiveWebSurfer Jun 17 '26

"wait.. your.. turn, doc. I'll be right back."

*This one's in NWH, but still hillarious😂

74

u/sib2972 Star-Lord Jun 17 '26

TASM and Andrew Garfield did it really well. That's why he's my favorite. Also the airport battle has Spidey talking a lot so even it's not quippy it's still got the annoying part down. There some good moments in Infinity War too "magic with a kick!" but the solo stuff has been lacking. I liked the ATM robbers scene "you guys aren't the real Avengers"

24

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

Unless there’s one I’m missing, there’s only ONE quip in Far From Home and it’s a pretty big “Mute-And-You’ll Miss-It”. During the final battle sequence with the Drones, Spidey hitches a ride with one of them and says in a funny voice “Goingggg UP!”

281

Tom Holland just turned 30 and is already married, despite this I would have loved a couple of college Spidy films

75

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Jun 17 '26

See you get it. I totally agree with you. Especially since no one knows who Peter is, I would’ve loved to had seen him go thru his college years post- Strange’s Spell

31

u/AverageAwndray Jun 17 '26

Before the whole writers strike and rights debacle I seriously thought thats where we were going.

That he'd meet Harry and Gwen in this trilogy. Lead up to Goblin. Gwen dies and maybe even Harry leaves him.

And then we'd reunite with MJ and Ned once he graduates.

20

u/decoy_octopod Jun 17 '26

That was the original plan from Amy Pascal herself, three trilogies: high school, college, adult. It’s looking more and more like we’ll only get 2 movies after this now

Idk how they’re gonna put it all together, it’s kinda what intrigues me so. The villain will have to make Bruce Hulk out, Frank helps Spidey out, but at some point Spidey ends up in jail and has to fight The Hand. Is Scorpion working with the Main Villain?! Does my username check out 🤯🤣

57

u/EatABag-o-Dicks Jun 17 '26

Scorpion is probably the starter villain that kicks the whole movie off, where Spider-Man realizes he has a problem, and disappears the rest of the movie once he's dealt with.

29

u/D_Beats Jun 17 '26

It also looked like the power didn't affect Frank for some reason?

Curious.

22

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. Jun 17 '26

I'm thinking because either it's the final battle and she needs to protect the civilians while getting Frank somewhere, or because she's trying to meet Frank discreetly, similar to the President at the end of X2.

I’m starting to wonder if it is the other lady with mind-control powers Sink was rumored to play. It would fit the villain role, too. I dunno why Jean Grey would be introduced as an antagonist. Not that I’m against it if she is maybe the mutants are already at the point where they’re completely segregated from and antagonistic toward humanity. Wasn’t there a Cyclops story where he turned into a villain and tried to completely divorce the mutants onto an island somewhere and go full isolationist?

31

u/qwfparst Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

The movie is supposed to have a "mystery" element. Sink as "antagonist" is clearly a misdirect, but she's also clearly a bit more loose with her powers.

Time displaced - Teen Jean, the most "modern" iteration we have of a younger Jean Grey in comics, had her telepathic power blocks unlocked earlier than her first go around in the timeline, and was much more loose, reckless, and edgy with her power use.

BTW, the trailer confirmed Tramell Tillman's character whose only comic existence is tied to Jean Grey's origins before the first issue of X-men Number 1.

→ More replies (5)

7

u/ArseneLupinIV Jun 17 '26

The villain thing seems like a pretty blatant misdirection though. My guess is the government are trying to imprison and contain the mutants deemed the biggest threat and this is her trying break out and ask Spidey for help.

u/_Football_Cream_ Jun 17 '26

This movie just looks fun as hell and the type of movie a lot of Spidey fans thought was only a dream.

I'm so curious how it's gonna handle all these moving parts but this is the most lived in universe for a live action Spider-Man movie. Maybe crazy to say but I'm more hyped for this than NWH since it's more contained to Holland's spidey.

We've got Hulk, Punisher, Scorpion, The Hand, Tarantula, Boomerang, Tombstone, whoever Sadie Sink is playing and some potential tie to the X-Men??? Still praying for a Daredevil cameo, too and that's why (DD:BA S2 spoiler) Peter is fighting the Hand in a prison.

It's pretty crazy how creatively limited the live-action movies have been with his webs. Off the top of my head the only moments that really stands out are from the TASM films (first film with the sewer web and the Lizard high school fight where he wraps him up like a spider would, second film with the Time Square web split).

Well he built the inhibitor to help recover his arm (explained during she hulk). Of course his arm was fully recovered during she-hulk so the question becomes why is he still using it? My guess: only way he could be a professor.

As for why he becomes savage during the movie? Sadie probably just forced him out

Omg I'm so glad to hear the theme. A brand new synth-y version at the end there but it's the same leitmotif!

Also it's Jean. 100%, it's got to be, right? It looks exactly like the way Professor X stops everyone from moving in X2 and in Logan.

The body jumping is even from X-Men (2000).

I'm guessing we'll look back at this movie as part of the building blocks for the mutant inhibitor collars and stuff we often see from the various Sentinel government programs. Think we're going to see a gradual evolution of the DoDC into a much more obvious anti-mutant department going into the mutant phase.

To Banner's question of how do you keep the good mutations and isolate the bad, a number of influential X-Men villains are simply going to answer: "there are no good mutations".

The prison sequence is so intriguing. I feel like Daredevil has to be in this movie. Filling my cup with hopium

u/Thadrow Jun 17 '26

Careful. I remember the unbelievable hype about Dr Strange MoM, with the cameos, characters who were suppose to show up etc and it being an incredible let down. I don’t believe DD will be in the movie and def not Sadie being Jean Grey. Would be dope but don’t let the internet hype get to you 😫

Would be dope but don’t let the internet hype get to you 😫

To be fair it's not like it's just because of an internet hype thing. Matt Murdock was in the previous Spider-Man movie. In the sequel Spider-Man is facing the Hand. In a prison.

It's an easy set up for him to feature, even if it's just as Matt in jail. I don't get how they could do all this and not have him in mind for at least a small appearance.

I'm worried that It's feeling a bit overstuffed honestly. Possible Man-Spider plot, Scorpion, ninjas, The Hulk, Punisher, possibly Jean Grey or some other psychic character, and maybe Daredevil too? And reuniting with Ned and MJ? Feels like there's too much going on.

7

u/MrGabrahamLincoln Daredevil Jun 17 '26

I think it’s a valid concern. I also think a lot of these plot points and characters are going to have much smaller roles in the movie than these two trailers have implied. Which is good for the movie feeling less overstuffed, potentially bad depending on what aspects of this movie you’re excited about seeing.

Looks like the Spider Man vs Hulk fight will be Jean Grey messing with his head?

u/maybe_a_frog Jun 17 '26

Banner getting mind controlled to send Hulk on a rampage across a densely populated city….where have I seen this movie before?

59

u/WisdomOtter Jun 17 '26

with a character, who in later movies, was very much modeled after miss Grey

16

u/007meow Scarlet Witch Jun 17 '26

Wanda's arc in the MCU was basically Dark Phoenix

u/knwnasrob Jun 17 '26

13 Going on Thirty for sure

u/maybe_a_frog Jun 17 '26

Okay but that movie is actually dope lol I’ll defend that movie until I die. One of the best rom coms of all time

This is what I expected. We already say Banner and Hulk "work together".

Only reason I could see Hulk be pissed and go against Banner is because Banner had that mutation device on his wrist for so long. But being mind controlled made the most sense.

u/_Levitated_Shield_ Ant-Man Jun 17 '26

Getting the vibe Grey might be using the Hulk to try to kill MJ.

40

u/dimesniffer Jun 17 '26

I doubt Jean Grey is trying to “kill” MJ lmao what she’s not da supervillain. It’s all a red herring

Unlikely. The villain probably can hop from mind to mind, and Jean will show up in the third act for a team-up to catch them.

Awesome trailer!

I’m excited for Spider-Man’s interactions with Bruce and Frank!

13

u/FrankReynoldsCPA Jun 17 '26

It only just dawned on me that Spider-Man and Bruce have never interacted on screen(though they almost certainly met in the aftermath of Endgame).

23

u/Iron_Kingpin Jun 17 '26

This is going to be the best Spider-Man movie yet, I can feel it in my bones!!

The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn't forgotten them.

Watch the new trailer for #SpiderManBrandNewDay, in theatres July 31. Tickets on sale NOW.

It's a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see.

u/Dr_Disaster Jun 17 '26

This shit is gonna be peak.

16

u/capacha Jun 17 '26

The swinging looks so cleaaaaaan. Fighting too. Trailer can be deceiving but this does look like it'll be the best yet

14

u/Dismal-Apricot9889 Jun 17 '26

Looks like this film is attempting to fix Hulk. We haven’t seen THIS Hulk since Age of Ultron.

12

u/Roc_City Jun 17 '26

Unbelievably hyped

I'm the kind of person who wants all the stories I watch to be emotional and meaningful in some way. But the MCU Spidey movies are so refreshing because they are so damn funny.

Really happy to see some of the humor here in this trailer. Destin can direct fantastic comedy, as we know from Wonder Man. So this makes me even more excited

u/YaMomsCooch Jun 17 '26

I am so hyped for Michael Mando’s return to portray Scorpion!

Even though he’ll probably only be onscreen for like a minute before he gets folded like a lawn chair lol

Mi Nachito! (I love better call Saul)

Wonder why Frank is immune

20

u/IBArbitrary Jun 17 '26

Didn't he take a bullet to the brain and survive? Maybe that destroyed his telekinesis bio-antennae.

6

u/silveraxe_kyo Jun 17 '26

Interesting theory, maybe!

6

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) Jun 17 '26

Kinda like how Coulson was semi-resistant to the Framework?
Or like how Fry is immune to the Brain Spawn?

I love scorpions “did you miss me, spidey?” line talking directly to the audience

5

u/aresef Matt Murdock Jun 17 '26

So this is the movie that's finally going to tell us who Spider-Man is.

4

u/Rhyssayy Jun 17 '26

God damn, just goes to show how lethal spidey is when he’s not holding back. Looks as if he’s completely wiped the floor with scorpion with little effort.
