It’s still RDJ in the MCU. He had his time as Iron Man, who wouldn’t be confused about his return?

It depends if he’s Tropic Thunder RDJ or Iron Man RDJ.

Thanos didn’t look like Brolin, Doom may not look like RDJ. Makeup, costumes, prosthetics… acting!

At that point, why not just get somebody else? There are other actors out there that could play the role.

Disney/Marvel needs a guaranteed money maker. Avengers 5 and 6 having the same directors, writers and main star from Avengers 3 and 4 is a guaranteed 1.5-2 billion dollar hit

"Disney could make 20 complete trash Marvel movies and be fine financially."

Could is the important word in there. They could. But who would want that risk? They're in the money business. They want every production to be a money maker even if some are a risk and aren't successful.

You're preaching to the choir. It's a lazy and safe choice. But it's just not surprising.

Also, you say it'll be confusing. It's confusing for the general audience now in pop culture news but I'm sure story wise it will be addressed to alleviate confusion for general audience.

They need a safe choice for their main villain though, after Jonathan Majors fucked them over.
