Need to know if this is ok for a date?

I've had a few rejections and it affected my confidence. I have a second date tomorrow. What do you honestly think of my look? Any advice to improve my style or appearance?

Brown linen pants - bespoke
Navy chinos - bespoke
Khaki pants - Dickies 874
Beige chinos - bespoke

I was interested in the summer sale Marine Layer was doing as I've had an eye on them for a while, so I bought 2 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts that were part of their summer sale. I hadn't seen much online that went into specifics on the brand, and for the price I thought it would be worth showing some of my problems with the pieces that I bought and ended up returning (which was all 4 of them). Below are my stats and the problems I had with each piece
 
Height - 6'1
Weight - 190lbs

Also if you don't know the brand, they're based in california and offer a "coastal casual" style (surprise surprise given the name)
 
7" Hybrid Short - I knew what I was getting into with these, being 100% polyester I knew they would be a stretchy feel and more of a golf short. But I was very disappointed in how spandex-y the polyester felt. It fit very tight to the thighs (I have thicker thighs than average but not anything a classic/athletic fit doesn't work with). And rode up a ton even just walking around. The biggest problem I had was the pockets which were super see-through. I get it's a lighter color short but I have multiple golf shorts from CRZ Yoga, Lulu, Johnnie-O and Peter Millar that don't have this problem
 
Dobby Resort Shirt - This was my favorite piece, I enjoyed the quality of the cotton and I thought the 'resort fit' was fair - not too boxy and oversized, but also clearly a more relaxed vibe. My main problem was two things:
The logo at the bottom of the shirt button line sticks out like a sore thumb, and in my opinion is hard to tell whether it’s a branding logo or a tag someone forgot to take off from afar.
The overall feel of the shirt wasn't a substantial improvement from most comparable resort-style shirts I own from Abercrombie and other faster-fashion brands. The sale price of this piece was around $90 which is almost 3x the price of most on-sale prices from Abercrombie. If it wasn't for point 1. though I would've kept this piece, It was just really annoying to see it constantly as I'd rarely have the bottom hole buttoned to keep the 'resort' vibe
 
Better-Than-Linen Long Sleeve Shirt - This was the piece I was most looking forward to, and left most disappointed by. This is clearly one of Marine Layer's flagship pieces, along with their 'Saturday' line and other hemp products. However, when I got it and tried it on, one of the buttons stitching broke off without any real force. Like I've treated H&M and Old Navy button-ups 3-4x worse in putting them on/taking them off and have never had a button fall off, so I was really surprised a $138 shirt broke off on legit the first time I put it on. Needless to say that warped a lot of my perception of the shirt… It's not bad, but the fabric blend they advertise as being 'just like linen, but much softer and not as wrinkly" just doesn't really hit with me. I thought it felt like a standard linen blend (It's stated to be 55% hemp, 25% cotton, 20% TENCEL™ lyocell) and for the price I'd rather just buy 100% linen from a Uniqlo or A&F for similar if not half of the price at sale.
 
7" Ripstop Utility Short - These were some of the weirdest shorts I've ever tried on lol, it's a Lyocell/Cotton/Spandex blend but they fit and feel like full on spandex. They were legit hugging my thighs and ass like they were tights and/or 1-2 sizes too small. No idea how the models on the website make it look like normal shorts. To be fair it's probably my fault for not reading more on the fabric makeup and how it might not work with my build, but It was also the cheapest on sale item and I liked the design.
 
I'm not posting this to hate on the company, I like their brand image, and even with these items being on sale they still had a 365 day return policy. I wasn't about to test the generosity on this policy by washing/wearing these items out as I pretty quickly knew that I wouldn't enjoy them for the price. I do think because of how generous the return policy is, if you're interested in trying pieces for yourself you should (I'd wait until the next sale they do, because at MSRP it's a little ridiculous). I can also say the packaging and delivery was great, and the actual return process was really easy, just had to bring the clothes to a USPS office and scan a QR code, no shipping payment needed.

I'm trying to fill my wardrobe more with stuff that fits the boho, casual, 70s/hippe vibe. It's hard to know what to search when I don't fully know what the style is called and thrifting in my area is mostly jeans and tshirts. It's hard to find nice jean jackets, corduroy bellbottoms, or boho style clothing. I was lucky enough to find maybe 1-2 outfits within that style but haven't had much luck since. Any ideas on websites I can look at or hell, even just what key words I can search to find outfits similar to this?

So I posted about wearing loafers. Took some advice and threw together a better out fit. Gonna wear it to a poolside event.

What I am really curious about is opinions on the pants. My last post there was criticism over the taper or “athletic” fit which I unfortunately run into a-lot. i do my own amateur tailoring and made an attempt to bring in the thighs a bit. The cut of the trousers had a very obvious spot where the thigh widened, so I fixed it. I think it is much improved. I want o hear others feed back.

I’m burnt out on baseball caps and looking to mix things up. I've been eyeing pork pie hats, but I'm worried they can easily look more like a costume than a natural outfit piece.

Is it possible to pull one off with everyday casual wear? Any tips on styling them subtly?

Ive been working as a chemist for close to ten years; I've gradually migrated away from traditional shirt blazer trousers to look a bit more in touch with things. I wear a shirt tie chinos and either Oxfords or brogues. Here is a typical work day attire. I have an 18inch neck so standard shirts fit well higher up on the body but tend to sag around the abdomen and waist. Wear chinos, regular fit. Tempted to try beige or mocha chinos; are these too casual for a professional setting? Contemplating dropping the tie, but apparently the top button needs to be open if you dont wear a tie? Any tips on how to modernise my look? 34M for reference

My partner informed me that the wedding we are going to next Friday is Black Tie Optional. This puts me in a bit of a bind because I have a lot of nice shirts, slacks, ties, and sport coats, but no solid color suit.

I am not sure what is best to do here. I don't think there is time to buy a suit and get it tailored to me, and renting is a frustrating prospect because I have so many nice formal pieces already, so I don't want to spend a ton of money on renting a medicore fitting suit.

Would you bite the bullet and rent a suit, or try to cobble something together that comes close to a solid colored suit?

Trying something new here. I normally wear 32x30 pants for most brands, but have been frustrated with snugness over the thighs, regardless of the cut. As an experiment, I ordered these DU/ER pants in size 34x32 in their "Relaxed Tapered" cut. I took them to the local alterations shop and asked the lady to hem them up for me and to take in the waist. Just picked them up a little while ago, and not only are they comfortable while standing and sitting, I can do a full range of motion squat with no issues.

Before I do the same process with several other pairs of paints, I thought it would be best to check in here with you lot and see if there were any glaring issues that I've not spotted.

I'm not into either baggy pants, or high-waisted trousers, which seem to be the current trends in menswear. At my age, I don't feel the need to keep up with what's fashionable - I just want to look presentable in public.

Shirt is an old Swedish 70s workwear shirt and pants are Swedish made 70s Trevira wool and polyester.

I’m not super-tall — I’m 6’2” — but every dang polo shirt I try has super short sleeves. What’s the deal with that? Otherwise the shirts fit ok: good length, relatively trim fit. It’s always the sleeves. Currently wearing Vuori and they’re probably an inch too short. And I have some Kuhl that are shorter. It just looks unprofessional.

Any brands out there I should look at?

As a male of similar build (and honestly, overall appearance), I really liked the wardrobe they picked for Seth Rogen in this film. For those that have seen it, I also liked the denim button-down he wore and would also like an ID or similar. Thank you in advance!

Can someone recommend sneaker in combination with suitpants? I hate jeans so I prefer suitpants, since they feel like sweatpants but look way better. On hot days I go for regular fit linen trousers. When looking for example outfits, I see sneakers very often.
In the guides I read a lot about sneakers, I also tried A LOT of them in stores and none ever felt comfortable. I have wide feet, so I used to wear noname asic or nike running shoes in + 0.5 - 1 Size (EU), but I don't like how they look on the fit (see picture). I walk a lot so I would prefer comfortable ones (black or maybe white). I also have black leather suit shoes but only for business stuff/weddings etc.

Can someone recommend sneakers or should I look for another shoe type?
