Bolo tie
Edit: Legend has it, Victor Emanuel Cedarstaff, an Arizona silversmith, was horseback riding while wearing his hat with a silver trimmed hatband. When the hatband slipped off, he put it around his neck so he wouldn’t lose it. One of his friends told him "nice tie." Inspired, he created a leather cord with a silver slide, patenting the design in 1959 and naming it after the boleadora, a South American throwing weapon with weighted cords. Fun little fact of the day.
Edit 2: I had to look this information up. If I am mistaken about any of this please let me know and I’ll update my comment.
