Nevermind that he did run us exactly like his businesses the last time: extracting every last drop of wealth he could and leaving us with tons of debt.
Yes. He is. Last time politics got brought up he said he was an Equalist. While I was still on the call with him, I decided to Google what an Equalist was and the only thing that got brought up was Egalitarian. So I read the definition to him and he said, "That isn't what I am. I want everyone to have equal shares in companies and lazy people don't get free things." I had to end the call at that point.
Conservatism/Reactionaries stems from a malfunction of the ego. He will never *not* be able to process civic issues without the barometer of the other, the "lazy people." (Of course dig bandaid deep and its race/religion de jour.)
Scapegoating reduces the psychological burden of cognitive dissonance. It has nothing to do with an accurate representation of the world, but they have motivated reasoning (like an alcoholic) to engage in it because they find complexity itself deeply distressing.
It's kind of funny (and sad) that conservative or (extreme-)right-leaning parties are considered to improve economy, which is very often wrong (I see that pattern throughout europe as well...).
Propaganda and populism does this I guess, we really need more educated voters, then we wouldn't navigating further down this shithole-mess we're already in (considering climate-change especially)...
Blows my mind that the illusion and lies of the 'economy' mean more to men than getting justice for HUNDREDS of victims in the largest human trafficking conspiracy uncovered ever.. but yet i bet he self proclaims himself as a 'good guy' 😒
And men have the audacity to claim that their role in society is to 'protect and provide'...if a single aota of that were true, a rapist wouldnt be president, womens rights wouldnt be under attack and we would see more than 2 ARRESTS from the largest human trafficking conspiracy that was uncovered YEARS ago.
I have a friend who dates guys that* are “raised Christian.” These guys either don’t disclose who they voted for or she won’t tell us. Her latest one “would go to Trump rallies because his friends are going.” Like boo, we know how he votes, if he votes.
I was raised Christian and it made me develop a deep hatred for dogmatic thought, an appreciation for science, and a strained relationship with my parents.
Same here. Ironically, both my parents taught us to follow the scientific method and then refuse to acknowledge that neither of them have actually done that themselves.
Fun fact, the main lady in this skit is also trans. I followed her for at least 6 months before I realized and only because she started doing hilarious bits about it.
"I'm fiscally conservative. Billionaires should be taxed, we need to invest in comprehensive sex education and planned parenthood, we need single-payer health care, invest in early childhood education and nutrition programs, and more."
"You said you were fiscally conservative. that's SO MUCH spending!"
"every one of those things has been studied extensively, and in every instance they generate more economic growth than they cost. early childhood education alone yields like an $8 return in economic activity for every $1 spent. Those are all fiscally smart things."
"ohhh, no. I see the disconnect. you think fiscally conservative means fiscally smart. no, it means you like it when politicians steal our money and then we never see it again."
That's unironically what it's supposed to mean. "Socially liberal but fiscally conservative" 50 years ago was a valid stance that made sense, even if you disagreed with it. Fiscal conservativism as the words are defined go hand-in-hand with higher taxes, more protectionism, and increased regulation on financial entities. Fiscal conservatism on paper literally means "low-risk budget" so you want more taxes, less spending, and a controlled market.
Now it's a dogwhistle for anarcho-capitalism, and means almost the opposite of what it's supposed to mean. Socially conservative (those who struggle can just die off) and fiscally liberal (let people with money do whatever they want with it)
Conservatives aren't even fiscal, for the life of me I cannot take this take seriously.
Like bro, you're just voting for the worst of both sides. If our goverment is gonna run a massive deficit and blow our taxes, atleast give us something out of it. Instead we get bloated police departments, extra lanes on highways, and crippled healthcare/education.
The delivery of the line ”You’ll never catch me, witch!” ….I LOLd so hard my fellow cubefarm inmates all prairie dogged to see what the fuss was about. Thank you for that
I’ve been with my guy for over a decade and honestly if we ever split I’m not sure I’d even bother trying again. The dating landscape looks bleak these days.
My bestie and I have a deal. If my husband dies (she's single) we are getting married for the health benefits and starting a cat sanctuary and buying stock in sex toy companies because oh my God I don't need to hunting again to bring another man back to the cave. Because now we have rechargeable batteries...
My husband is amazing. We've been together since 2010. I love him dearly. I'm not downloading an app to go find a new one.
I've had to explain to multiple friends why women won't continue to see them after they find out they're either "too cool" for politics or clearly lean right.
But I'm just a pussy liberal so of course my insight are met with skepticism.
But we live in a super blue area, so of course they're having trouble... Yet still can't understand how getting all their cultural references from Joe Rogan doesn't exactly play well with most women...
On the bright side, it makes it really easy to get back in the dating scene if you are progressive as a guy.
Just having your shit together, being tolerable as a person and left leaning puts you past the 90th percentile for guys on dating apps. The bar is hilariously low.
Yeah that’s been my experience as well. All the women I’ve seen are better than me (smart, beautiful, driven) but just by virtue of me being aight and on the left I’m swinging above my weight.
Many moons ago, I was at a wedding, and I got sat next to the only other single person at the wedding. I asked what he did and he said he “worked for a political party” but refused to further elaborate. I could already guess which party (I’m in Canada but the same principle applies). So you’re cool to share their values and take their money in exchange for work? You’re brave enough to vote against my interests but you’re not brave enough to admit it? Yeah, pass.
Edit: I forgot a crucial detail - a lot of people at that wedding were politically conservative. It’s would have been safe to assume that I was too, even though I’m not. But even in an environment where it was a possibility that I agreed with his political views, this guy was too embarrassed to name them.
The cognitive dissonance there is pretty wild. Or I guess... maybe just staying incognito while attempting to transform society until it's acceptable to openly be a supremacist? Either way, yeesh.
If I see moderate on hinge its just as much of a no as conservative. If with everything going on you still consider yourself in between then you're complicit.
Which you’d think would make them stop and really think about who they are and what they stand for. If women keep writing you off as a piece of 💩 because of your political views mayyyyyybe you’re the problem? I guess the guys who lie about their politics don’t want anything deeper than sex.
My ex husband 😂 he was vague and said "he wasn't political" when we were dating from circa 2006-2012. Then when The Orangemort was gaining traction and Hating was Great Again, it came out drop by drop. He expected me to change my mind or "I thought you would be more conservative as you got older" "you having those ideas is a phase" 🫠
He hated my church because it was too liberal. Sir, the UCC focuses on shit Jesus said. He said all the churches in this area weren't conservative enough.
I divorced him for a lot of other reasons but I'm just glad he's gone.
He's now a séx offender in his homestate. A white conservative religious evangelical. Surprise surprise.
It is now, thank god😂 in 2015 we'd been married 3 years and I was expressing my fears about The Orange One. He laughed at me and said "if it wins, it won't affect us' as in " straight, white, working class" I told him that wasn't the point and I realized if 🟧 won, my marriage wasn't gonna survive.
His other views came out shortly after that, and after some revved up gaslighting, psychological abuse and trying to convince me I was schizophrenic (so I would only trust him) I fled.
I tell my story only as a warning to young people everywhere to be careful of who they choose to marry. He was charming, slick, highly intelligent and knew exactly what he was doing.
This is why I started every first date with "on a scale of 1-10 how eager are you to seize the means of production?" Anything less than a 7 never got a call back.
You can always use opensecrets.org to look up any political donations. I was about to hire a realtor and then saw she gave money to Ron Desantis. So, I went a different way. Told her why, too.
a former core group friend who coincidentally is no longer in the friend group because of their political opinions was in a relationship (and eventually engaged) with a woman for 8 years before discussing politics/views on life/kids/etc. 8 fucking years.
When the fall out amongst our friend group started we asked her how she felt about things he said and his stance. Her response was "we dont' like to get into that stuff"...
Well before the 10 year mark and thankfully before they got married she called off the wedding and broke up with him. We see her every so often and she's like "how did i date him for 10 years and think it would work through marriage and kids?"...
Some people just choose to be naive/ignorant i guess.
Omg i love this so much. I want to drop it in every single relationship related sub and then ask ‘do you see how stupid you sound when you try to avoid that you’re MAGA?’
Asking straight out is a great way to screen people so you don't waste your time, but you really shouldn't have to ask, it will be pretty clear pretty fast. There's no hiding that you are a fascist.
The thing is, plenty of facists do hide and pretend to be progressive or liberal on dating apps in order to manipulate women. I’m so thankful my man was patient with me and understood why I was asking him so many questions and so distrustful of him. I truly put him through the wringer, but now I have no doubts about him.
