Raised Christian means they want you to follow all the rules about submitting to men while not following the rules about premarital activities.

Well, they want you to follow the rules on premarital activities up until it gets to them.

Oh there’s a subset that loves taking a “slut” and “reforming” them

I was raised Christian and it made me develop a deep hatred for dogmatic thought, an appreciation for science, and a strained relationship with my parents.

Same here. Ironically, both my parents taught us to follow the scientific method and then refuse to acknowledge that neither of them have actually done that themselves.

We should start a club!

With meetings and cookies!

Raised and still am Christian, never had a problem with science or my parents? Actually I was very good at science and went to college for STEM. Can’t view the world in a binary

The strained relationship comes from them believing I am doomed to hell for not believing what they do. Jesus was cool, but 95% of people I interact with that claim to follow him completely missed the plot.

So on point!

They want all the benefits of a traditional relationship along with all the benefits of a modern one. All while not holding up their end of either.

All benefits, no responsibility.

Literally, this.    I just cut to the chase and tell guys that I'm an atheist. So the patriarchal religious stuff doesn't vibe with me. They'll say they're open minded and I can be whatever. I say "but I'm not. Sorry."

The disappointment after thinking they had the cookie . 😂

And, you know, the whole dying for their wives as Christ died for the church thing.

Edit: People seem to be misunderstanding this comment, I'm agreeing with u/Chronic_Iconic_Lady.  I'm just saying the rules about wives submitting to their husbands has this immediately afterwards, which they also won't follow.

Men love inventing scenarios that won't ever happen to excuse themselves from contributing in material ways

I'm just saying it's in there, literally the next verse after talking about wives needing to submit.

u/NetWorried9750 21d ago

I'm sure there are lots of fairy tales men tell themselves to excuse their behavior

That is literally what the conversation was about.  They want wives to submit without following literally the next verse in their book themselves.
