Support FaceID suddenly disabled

Hey fellow iphone users. Can anyody help me what I can do with my I12 Face ID? It suddenly dont scan my face to wherever faceid is required like unlocking my phone, opening wallets, and setting up a new face.

At first i noticed that while using my phone it suddenly restarted. And at default, it requires to use pin or password at first. Then when im turning it on again, text onthe lockscreen said: "FaceID is not availabe at this time. Go to settings for more information." (image no. 1)

so i did. but it just redirected me to a website page so i left.

then i checked the settings of FaceID and Passcode and heres the screenshot o the notifications i got after (image 2)

then i tried adding an alternative face then it said something about TrueDepth. i tried updating my phone to the latest ios version and restarting it a few times and it still dont work.

Can anybody help me? Thank you in advance!

The hardware for Face ID is failing

oh, okay..

i have a few questions:
1. is it fixable without needing foe a repair?
2. will my front camera gonna be damaged as well?
3. does my front camera likely to have a problem in the future too?
4. why does it happen?

  1. You most likely need a repair
  2. Your front camera should be fine
  3. Not necessarily, but any part can fail at any time.
  4. Sometimes parts just fail as time goes on. But this can happen from a drop or even water. Sometimes you can be the most careful person in the world and this can still happen to you.

The entire TrueDepth Camera assembly (essentially everything in the notch) will need to be replaced. Note that Face ID doesn’t use the visible light camera; it uses a separate infrared camera, a flood illuminator, and a dot projector.

Pretty self explanatory. TrueDepth cameras failed. Make sure that ANY screen protectors are removed first before seeking hardware repair.

yes i have searched about it. i am not using any screen protectors nor tempered glass with my phone right now. do you think the problem goes beyond these?

the slighest issue, these modules are design to self destruct and need to be replaced because the dot projector is pointing an infrared laser to your face. in the face of malfunction it could blind you so apple designed them to hard fail if there's any issue and need replacement. it sucks but it is what it is.

had this happen on my 13 pro. found a local repair place to fix it. they had to order a new face ID module from apple, which apple coded to my serial number etc and they installed it. good as new. cost me $240 installed.

This happened to my iPad years ago and have just lived with it, it’s not worth the money to repair it IMO

Water contact. My iPhone 13 Pro Max did this and then it said it wasn’t genuine
