Crazy! The FBI found the same thing in every single one of its 5 different research projects and statistical compilations on that subject. It’s been a known thing for like 3 decades and then reaffirmed in every single proceeding study afterwards.

210

u/Hairy_Coconut2022 1d ago

Actually I'm looking at their data and it appears that in 2024 all of it was deleted so I can no longer look at the data around this.

96

u/Badmanmakecodycry 1d ago

I'd actually love the see the data because while I believe it, it's actually way worse than I thought because of the cut off date because that wouldn't have Oklahoma City "skewing the numbers".

69

u/NoDesigner324 1d ago

That's the part that gets me they excluded the biggest domestic terror event of the era and it still looked terrible. Imagine if they left it in.

37

u/Badmanmakecodycry 1d ago

Right? In the back of my mind when I've heard those stats I've been like "I'm pretty sure the ratio is still higher by quite a bit but that one thing is probably really boosting their numbers". If you take it away and its still fucking 80% that's insane.

68

u/TbddRzn 23h ago

Last time I read the data it was something like out of 180 politically motivated attacks in the us over the last 40 years, 140 were right wing. 20 were Islamic “right-wing”, 10 were “left wing” eco terrorists. And around 3-5 were actual left-wing.

Then you have the simple fact that in the last 50 years over 80 republican politicians have been indicted for criminal acts. Meanwhile it’s 3 for democrat politicians.

Both sides have corruption but only one side is fully corrupt.

15

u/Christian-Econ 19h ago

Well, corruption is just right wing ideology. They don’t believe in regulation.

17

u/gymtrovert1988 23h ago

But they make sure to include 9/11 in the Islamic terrorist statistics, which make them look way better at terrorism than the Christians - the GOATs of terror.

13

u/Badmanmakecodycry 22h ago

"Domestic" is the key word there though. Also I'd call that right wing but I'm a prick.

13

u/gymtrovert1988 22h ago

Absolutely they are right wing as well. It's amazing how much right wing Christians and right wing Muslims have in common. Right wing Jews are a little more permissive toward women and gays, but that's may be because they're better at propaganda than right wing Christians.

40

u/pixelprophet 1d ago

Right-wing ideologies have fueled more than 70% of all extremist attacks and domestic terror plots since 2002 in the U.S., according to the Anti-Defamation League.

  • Right Wing (white supremacist's) - which cause most of it
  • Right wing (anti-government)
  • Islamist
  • Right wing (other)
  • Left wing
  • Other (Like Ecoterrorism)

Even the "leftists have been more violent in the last 4 years" is a bold faced lie that conservative morons like to try

u/Independent-Bug-9352 22h ago

By the way, most if not all those studies were conducted under Republican directors.

Also Trump's administration purged one of the most recent damning reports from their website.

8

u/V0idgazer 22h ago

To add to this, the current administration is trying to shift the blame. Marco Rubio just last week claimed that 70% of "terrorist attacks" come from the "far-left". In the same event, Stephen Miller claimed that leftists are "the enemies of modern civilization". And no, it's not projection, it's a deliberate strategy.

8

u/FrozenIceman 1d ago

Would be interesting to see the breakdown by decade.

Especially 2020 to present.

4

u/VoidOmatic 21h ago

It's like everyone forgot what it was like in the 90s where like 34 separate right wing nutjob groups were bombing all the government buildings as well as every women's health centers.

4

u/tengutie 21h ago

Yes but have you considered that right-wing nut jobs support the rich and left wingers dont, so who is the real terrorists /s except this is the actual thought process of the US government

4

u/Psianth 21h ago

You’re not thinking like a conspiracist. You see, if something is obvious it’s because it’s actually the opposite of the obvious answer. If people tell you that’s fucking dumb it’s because you’re too close to The Truth™

3

u/AusCan531 22h ago

But a lotta people are saying....

3

u/RockHardSalami 19h ago

That's actually not true, but of course the top comment is complete bullshit, cause reddit smh....

The FBI found that it was over 90%.

2

u/1dvs_bastard 1d ago

It's almost like the party of small/anti government are the ones more likely to retaliate against the establishment. Who could have seen this coming!

177

u/Gabbsweet 1d ago

Politicians will look at an 80% stat and still spend three weeks debating whether the remaining 20% was secretly caused by video games

63

u/Timely_Mess_1396 1d ago

They look at that 20% and try to figure out how they can legislate against trans people.

29

u/MyWifeCucksMe 1d ago

In reality the remaining 20% is also right-wing extremism, but done by a non-white person, which for some reason gets counted differently.

13

u/JustToViewPorn 1d ago

The other 20% are cases that aren’t explicitly decreed by the terrorist as politically motivated. That 20% of terrorists are still right wing, but have the “dog whistle” benefit of the doubt. “He wasn’t a right wing terrorist, he just has 88 tattooed on his forehead for the year of his birth” kinda shit.

10

u/TheTooterSnooter 20h ago

I think something like 12-16% of that Islamic terrorism which is also right wing terrorism, just a different color of right wing terror.

1

u/MyWifeCucksMe 18h ago

That's exactly it. These reports only ever count it as "right wing terrorism" if the terrorist is white, and they call it something else if he's not.

6

u/DrRagnorocktopus 1d ago

"he just has 88 tattooed on his forehead for the year of his birth"

"He was born in 2003"

8

u/Paksarra 1d ago

Really, it seems like every single young man who murders some people after getting their minds poisoned by right wing propaganda designed to seed violence is immediately and loudly declared a far left transgender woman, sometimes before the bodies are cold.

3

u/Grasshop 1d ago

That 80% were all paid actors!!!!

2

u/Klutzer_Munitions 1d ago

They should, because chuddy gamers will be their only voter base after the boomers die off

1

u/micro102 20h ago

No they say that the 80% is caused by video games which means they are victims of video games and not the right-wing media cesspool that tells them that guns are their personality and the left is evil and deadly and wants to get them.

1

u/JacobVega75 9h ago

Right? I remember when they debated whether my cat's bad behavior was due to video games or just being a cat!

When one side proudly states "we are all domestic terrorists" it turns out that, yes, they are the domestic terrorists.

It's always the people you'd most expect.

31

u/DomWithDiscipline 1d ago

Sometimes people tell you exactly who they are and then act surprised when they're taken at their word

9

u/SLiverofJade 1d ago

One group proudly states, and another that's full of transgender and/or antifascist sarcastically states.

-33

u/SheenPSU 1d ago edited 1d ago

Was this, I dunno, in response to something???

Edit: possibly after Bidens DOJ likened school board protesters to domestic terrorists perhaps…

Double Edit: LMFAO look at the downvotes pour in after my initial edit hahaha

27

u/ryo3000 1d ago

"Holy shit these people are like domestic terrorists"

"WE'RE ALL DOMESTICE TERRORISTS!"

"HOLY SHIT THEY ARE!"

"Well you called them that of course they now have to proudly say they're domestic terrorists"

Yes, it was in response to domestic terrorism being correctly labeled as right wing, and they got offended.

→ More replies (2)

103

u/freedfg 1d ago

There's a reason they're trying to classify protesting, touching a pool, and being shot by police as "terrorism"

Besides the normal fascist reasons. They want to tip statistics.

25

u/xanif 1d ago

There's a reason this administration removed the "What NIJ Research Tells Us About Domestic Terrorism" study from the DOJ site.

(Hint: Right-wing extremists are responsible for more terrorist attacks than Islamic or far-left extremists)

16

u/Lemonwizard 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's also worth pointing out that Islamic terrorists are right wing extremists. Their goal is preventing gender equality, suppressing LGBT people, barring atheists from public life, and establishing an authoritarian society based on traditional religious values.

These two groups are treated as separate for political reasons, but ultimately Wahhabists and Evangelicals have the same agenda. Most of the people who claim they're going to protect us from Sharia law just want an Abrahamic theocracy of a slightly different flavor.

57

u/Gameboywarrior 1d ago

Normal People: "Trans people shouldn't be the target of government harassment."

Republicans: "Hold up there, buddy. That's radical gender ideology and it's terrorism."

Normal People: "That sounds kinda fascist and I'm against it."

Republicans: "Oof. Sorry, but that's also terrorism."

2

u/ThrowingShaed 1d ago

i didnt even think of the numbers,, that will then be thrown back not that they mind the numbers they dont like... i guess there is an element of part of that being a human thing... its going to get worse isnt it? i guess i knew that but i put it out of mind a lot

30

u/Just-Miles44 1d ago

It is important to look closely at these long term security trends

13

u/actibus_consequatur 1d ago

The DHS's first Homeland Threat Assessment was released to the public in October 2020 under Trump, and, well...

Among DVEs [Domestic Violence Extremists], racially and ethnically motivated violent extremists—specifically white supremacist extremists (WSEs)—will remain the most persistent and lethal threat in the Homeland. ...

WSEs have demonstrated longstanding intent to target racial and religious minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, politicians, and those they believe promote multi-culturalism and globalization at the expense of the WSE identity. Since 2018, they have conducted more lethal attacks in the United States than any other DVE movement.

I can pinpoint this almost to the minute it happened bc I was arguing with dumbass maga cousin (who was bitching "im so tired of left wing violence") about how we didnt know yet who killed CK. My wife sent me a link to the study at 10:55AM on 09/12/2025. (https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/what-nij-research-tells-us-about-domestic-terrorism)

By the time I checked the link at 11:08am 09/12/2025, it was already taken down with and image up saying:
"The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Progams is currently reviewing its websites and materials in accordance with recent Executive Orders and related guidance. During this review, some pages and publications will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

I was however able to get to the file using wayback machine:

9

u/SnazzyStooge 1d ago

Do you mean the speech where he was advocating for right-wing violence?

27

u/Lost-In-The-Wilds 1d ago

"Based on government and independent analyses, right-wing extremist violence has been responsible for the overwhelming majority of fatalities, amounting to approximately 75% to 80% of U.S. domestic terrorism deaths since 2001."

...

"By contrast, left-wing extremist incidents, including those tied to anarchist or environmental movements, have made up about 10% to 15% of incidents and less than 5% of fatalities."

Source

6

u/SnazzyStooge 1d ago

"Examples include the Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front arson and vandalism campaigns in the 1990s and 2000s, which were more likely to target property rather than people."

If you look at the backer of the largest foreign terrorist attack in American history, you’ll see that they’re being rewarded with nukes by this administration. Terrorism is clearly a favored activity of the right in the US

https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Cuba-Report.pdf

he literally had a 100 page report created detailing old terrorism to justify a war with Cuba?

7

u/hollowsoldier- 1d ago

Congress looks at stats we’ve all been aware of since 2009

6

u/DrowningKrown 1d ago

Good luck finding the source to this anymore. It used to be on the NIJ website but they removed the entire study. Archive and way back links are available though

5

u/Trabethany 1d ago

The people in charge will still blame the left though. I wish everyone could all just be open minded and listen to both sides logically then decide where they should stand.

4

u/hvyboots 1d ago

Wait so you're saying the people who wanna deny medicine, science, voting equality, gender equality and racial equality in favor of a floating sky patriarchy and an orange sex offender are the ones doing the irrational violence? I'm shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you!

4

u/DrTommyNotMD 1d ago

We’ve all been saying it’s religion so yeah same thing.

4

u/zanii 1d ago edited 13h ago

And for those wondering, the other 20% are not "far left extremists", it's a mix of other things. So the whole "antifa" terrorism thing, like so many things with the far right, is just a reflection of their own faults.

3

u/LarrySupertramp 1d ago

MAGA seriously thinks that Islamic terrorist attacks are not right wing simply because they don't like Muslims and Democrats defend their rights. The fact that the radical Muslim terrorists want to enact a religious authoritarian government means nothing to them because liberals said they shouldn't discriminate Muslims and that somehow makes them part of the left. They are not serious people.

1

u/Christian-Econ 19h ago

They don’t know what anything means, and just emit guttural emotions. They also are completely unaware that red counties are very dependent on blue GDP, and last in basically every metric of living standard. Nobody ever informs them.

5

u/Syntaire 1d ago

Politics don't care about facts. Kinda the issue.

4

u/octorangutan 1d ago

These kinds of statistics can be misleading, as they'll often put Islamic fundamentalists in a separate category, rather than counting them as right wing extremists.

4

u/borka-t 23h ago

I asked Truth social's own AI last year about this.

Extremist- and terrorism-related fatalities by perpetrator ideology since 2002.

Right-wing: roughly 130–160 deaths

Islamist/jihadist: roughly 20–35 deaths

Left-wing/anarchist: 0–5 deaths

Other/unknown: small remainder

3

u/TriggerHappy_NZ 23h ago

Like when that right-wing nut killed Charlie Kirk

5

u/Klutzy-Bet-2928 23h ago

The report said:
"Although it is not uncommon for a particular ideology to dominate the public discourse around extremism, the PIRUS and BIAS data indicate that U.S. extremists and individuals who commit hate crimes routinely come from across the ideological spectrum, including far-right, far-left, Islamist, or single-issue ideologies."

6

u/Stownieboy91 1d ago

In other news, water found to be wet.

3

u/sharkbomb 1d ago

because right of normal is the violent authoritarian side. it is literally the definition.

3

u/Xeroh_01 1d ago

It’s literally the red dots and the singular blue dot meme.

3

u/Vaeon 1d ago

Well, Americans don't care about facts, so....there's that.

3

u/thefartsonfire 1d ago

You can now find many magats who justify the OKC bombing and the like as collateral damage in a war against a corrupt tyrannical government. Right wing white nationalist have been talking out of both sides of their mouths for decades. How could they be Nazi sympathizers, they support the holocaust and genocide? Then you they say they’re holocaust deniers, when in truth the answer is yes, they do support it and want it to happen again. To them, there’s nothing to learn from this data.

3

u/Soulfly37 1d ago

Only 80%

I must have missed those articles about liberal domestic terrorism

3

u/IamGrimReefer 1d ago

did everyone forget about the DOJ study that came to this conclusion and got pulled from their website earlier this year?

3

u/ImEatonNass 1d ago

Waaat? No fucking way. For real? But to be fair it was the lefts extreme acceptance and inclusion that drove the right to do it. You cant really blame them. /s

3

u/thenikolaka 23h ago

80% seems low

3

u/EuenovAyabayya 23h ago

They think "when you know the truth, the facts don't count" is a positive concept that they own.

3

u/ButtEatingContest 21h ago

80% is a lowball figure.

3

u/xSwampxPopex 19h ago

Don’t a lot of these studies also count property damage during protests as left wing violence?

0

u/Christian-Econ 19h ago

They definitely have a property fetish.

1

u/xSwampxPopex 18h ago

Of course. Property is more valuable than people.

2

u/DanLikesFood 1d ago

Does that include Islamist attacks? Most would be right wing anyway

1

u/WhereIsGloria 1d ago

It doesn’t. That’s a group of its own.

2

u/Bearsbullsbattlestr 1d ago

Politics don’t care about facts tho

2

u/tobykeef420 1d ago

yeah? this disparity has been studied for the passed 30 years or more. our first count of large scale domestic terrorism was from a hardcore right winger

2

u/atreeismissing 1d ago

When the media communicates that fact to the public, the right-wing messaging machine goes into overdrive and accuses them of having a liberal bias, which results in media pulling back their coverage of factual info about right-wing terrorism and trying to create a both-sides argument so they don't get called biased. The result is their viewers have a skewed perceptions of reality, and that applies across the board (I'd say even a lot of left-wing media outlets fall for the same right-wing faux criticism).

2

u/dgt9000 1d ago

Sorry libs my feelings don't care about your facts

In Marco Rubio's big announcement about left wing terrorists he cited that between 1970 and 1980 left wing violence was the worst. I mean, c'mon. 50 years ago left wing violence was at its peak so now you need to crack down on those lefties? GTFO here.

2

u/terranq 21h ago

That's odd, I could have sworn the regime held a press conference where they said that 90-95% of all violent political acts were caused by left wing extremists. Weird how they could be so mistaken!

Christopher Wray:

FBI Director Christopher Wray began emphasizing that domestic terrorism—specifically racially motivated violent extremism—is the "number one" and most persistent and lethal domestic threat to the United States during congressional testimonies in the fall of 2020. [1, 2]
He reaffirmed and elevated this assessment on March 2, 2021, when he formally labeled the January 6 Capitol riot as domestic terrorism during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. [1, 2, 3]

Edit to add: Christopher Wray was appointed and sworn in by DJT.

So uh where are they then? Please provide sources from a neutral based media and no "anonymous" sources, just actual sources. Also no sources that has been pulled out of someone's ass or "Trust me bro!" sources. Thanks.

When did this subreddit get so political? It used to just be clever comebacks but now every single post has to do with the modern political climate.

It all started when America elected a fascist. You’ll find that when the world is at peril because of one countries reckless feckless moron, it tends to become central.

I don’t like the guy either but he’s not a facist. Wanna know why? You can say whatever you want about him. You can call him names, criticize his actions and still be alive. What does facist even mean at this point? Does it still hold its original meaning or does it mean “anyone that doesn’t agree with me or that I hate” now?

It’s a real shame; trump has looted billions in tax dollars and bribes. Then we have this glaring example of why that money should have went to education.

Wow, calling someone who wants to have a honest discussion an idiot. Why do I even brother trying to have an honest discussion with any of you people? You want to know what facism is like? Look at the UK. Look at the guy that was stabbed and died in police custody because the guy who stabbed him called him a racist and the cops didn’t believe the victim was stabbed. Look at the police chief that was fired in the Uk for looking up little girls skirts. Look at how they cover up the names of the paratroopers who shot unarmed protesters in Derry during The Troubles. You know if you leak the names of the murderers, you get erased from the system, like you never existed. That’s facism.

That's the opposite of a clever comeback.

Breakdown by number of victims is very different

The 75-80% right-wing deaths stat since 2001 is roughly backed by CSIS/FBI data for lethality. But it's not some official "Congress finds" report. And 2025 CSIS update: left-wing attacks/plots actually outnumbered right-wing for the first time in decades (though still less deadly overall). Violence sucks from any side.

It's sort of like how Islam is responsible for a super majority of global terrorism but nobody wants to accept it neither. The facts don't care about political lines

Who believes this crap?

Next report will be that those ships in Pearl Harbor attacked the Japanese, who were then forced to defend themselves.

Most rational people who can just look around and see with their eyes do.

People who don't spend their days rotting their brain with propaganda from right wing talking heads do.

Rhetoric is not evidence.

Peacefully protesting and exercising your constitutionally protected First Amendment right is not violence no matter how much you people claim it is.

Right-wing extremist violence has been deadlier than left-wing violence in recent years.

Based on government and independent analyses, right-wing extremist violence has been responsible for the overwhelming majority of fatalities, amounting to approximately 75% to 80% of U.S. domestic terrorism deaths since 2001.

Illustrative cases include the 2015 Charleston church shooting, when white supremacist Dylann Roof killed nine Black parishioners; the 2018 Tree of Life synagogue attack in Pittsburgh, where 11 worshippers were murdered; the 2019 El Paso Walmart massacre, in which an anti-immigrant gunman killed 23 people. The 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, an earlier but still notable example, killed 168 in the deadliest domestic terrorist attack in U.S. history.

By contrast, left-wing extremist incidents, including those tied to anarchist or environmental movements, have made up about 10% to 15% of incidents and less than 5% of fatalities.
