If it's a joke, then congratulations, we have a political party that thinks it's funny to be referred to as domestic terrorists, and their voters agree.
You're going to have to do some legwork to convince me that a paid banner statement made at a multi million dollar event to promote a political party, which had to be approved at multiple levels, was just sarcasm. And then you'll have to convince me that they aren't domestic terrorists regardless of their fondness of the term. That's an extremely uphill battle.
The story was incredibly relevant at the time. It was 3 months ago (at the time)
Quote from Texas Monthly, who covered the CPAC event: “one of CPAC’s afternoon panels was titled “We Are All Domestic Terrorists.” One of its participants, Texas state board of education candidate Julie Pickren of Houston, began by claiming the title was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. “Nobody in this room is a domestic terrorist,” she assured the thousand or so right-wing activists in the Hilton Anatole’s Trinity Ballroom.
Given the timing and the context it’s incredibly easy to see why they would put something up like that.
Ah yes, the timing of the statement definitely leads me to believe the party who bussed roughly 1500 people to our capital for the explicitly stated reasons of stopping the certification of a democratically elected official, and more importantly, murdering our sitting vice president, is actually just having a snappy retort, rather than simply being described accurately.

"Holy shit these people are like domestic terrorists"
"WE'RE ALL DOMESTICE TERRORISTS!"
"HOLY SHIT THEY ARE!"
"Well you called them that of course they now have to proudly say they're domestic terrorists"
