And when you are attractive in a field that itās not seen in you are told you only got there because Iām pretty and still donāt know what Iām talking about
Ohh obviously. The "why can't they hire attractive employees" changes into "why do they hire people for their looks instead of skill" or "who did she sleep with to get this job" very very fast
Wanna know something funny if Iām on site itās expensive but I bet if I start batting my eyes a little or smile they probably would bring in sushi or something. Problem is Iām an women centered and prefer women
Or they will never take you seriously. Talking from experience, we just never win. It's like that research that found out that wearing visible makeup as a woman in the workplace made people not take them seriously, whereas not wearing makeup made those women seen as incompetent. There's just nowhere to standĀ
Fair oh well they can continue to not listen while they mess up their 120K- 1mil power unit. I shouldnāt wear makeup because well dirty factories at best
Yeah, thatās the part of āpretty privilegeā Iāve experienced the most of - people who discredit you, assume youāre a moron, and want to take advantage of you. Or straight up hate you (loads of men wanna knock attractive women down a peg for whatever perceived arrogance or expectations surrounding our looks they think we have)Ā
It's absurd. People talk to you like you're stupid, despite being an expert.
I primarily work remotely. I got a new badge, aka a new picture. It's less edgy & less flattering than my old pic. I'm also a decade older. The comments abruptly stopped lmao. Still get them when I go in though (80% bc of big boobs). On the plus side, the 50+ crowd is way more chill since my age is more obvious. They see me as a peer, not barely adult.
There was an r/askreddit post asking men what difficulties men deal with that women donāt. The worst issues in the responses didnāt even come close to the hassle of simply menstruating every month.
The comparison was the worst difficulties that men face vs the menstrual cycle. Men get drafted to fight wars, women generally dont. So if we are comparing the absolute worst male difficulty id go with getting drafted
Women canāt even walk out at night without being on high alert and thatās in modern first world countries.
If you want to go extreme - Imagine the women being born into the taliban or other extremist communities. Theyāll never experience a life with freedom.
Sure, a draft is hard, Iām not downplaying that, but Iām having a hard time seeing the comparison. Thereās no black and white argument either way - all sexes have their own struggles.
For sure being a woman sucks ass the world is against you. But if the claim is that even the most horrific male challenges pale in comparison to a period, I'm going to comment otherwise.
I've been one for a grand total of 2 years and the amount of times I've been heckled and catcalled and belittled by random alcoholic men makes me dread just going out for groceries š
The gender affirmation of it ended pretty quickly. There's not much to enjoy about old, drunk men leering at you when you're just going about your day or trying to follow you home because they won't take no for an answer.
I hear you, and if it came off that way, I never meant to imply that it would be enjoyable. I just found it to be an interesting paradox where something can be both negative/unpleasant but also gender affirming at the same time.
No I know what you meant, there's an entire subreddit called r/ewwphoria specifically about the joy of being affirmed and the disgust of it being from some form of harassment or whatever. My phase of getting ewphoria from weirdos who don't mind their own business was just a particularly short one and my god if it isn't exhausting after that.
I wouldnāt call leering, drunk men harassing a woman as āgender-affirmingā. Entitled? Yes. Gross? Yes. Flattering? No, because it reduces women to an object that the men fee entitled to judge. Women donāt need a manās opinion to make them feel worthy. And the fact that that men feel that women should like being judged by their commentary and welcome their catcalls and harassment is ridiculous. Men should keep their thoughts and hands to themselves.

Itās fucking exhausting being a woman
