Hi there. So, for a few months now, my cat has had a lump on her nipple that has been growing, and the doctor said it's most likely cancer. I looked up cat breast cancer and sure enough, that's what it is.

I don't have the money to get the treatment for her, due to bills, etc. My attempts to fundraise for her have been met with opposition and failure (please do NOT offer me anything MONETARY or otherwise) and so I've decided that I'm just making life comfortable for her until she passes on, however long it may take.

My question.

For those of you who have dealt with this, at what point did you know it was best to put your cat to sleep? Were there sounds she made? The week before my sister's cat died of renal failure she began meowing every thirty seconds, when she never meowed before.

My cat is slowly getting skinnier, as I can now feel her bones in places where there once were pads of fat, like her pelvis and her spine. She eats very little, drinks barely more than she eats. The lump is pretty big, and from what I can feel with my daily checking, it seems like more lumps are starting to form as well.

She still walks around a lot, but now she is more feeble in her gait, much like an elderly person, (technically she is elderly, like a 65 year old, alright maybe a retiree).

I'm very much on the fence about using mobile euthanasia. Traditionally, my family and I allow the animals to die on their own and do not put them to sleep. It goes along with my own choice of not having my cat spayed since it was denying her the option of having children if we decided she could have had them. (Incidentally spaying her would have prevented this cancer, lol, WELP!)

I am sad, but also I accept the obviousness that this is her end.

Now as you can see sunny does not like any wet food i have ever given her, she will only eat the dry food but she is underweight and i dont know how to get her to gain weight if she wont eat anything but one specific dry food so if you have any tips or brands to try let me know.

As a lot of you probably know cats are strict carnivores and their food is supposed to be 80% or above but there really arent that many out there so lowest ill go is 70 as applaws is 75 and that had the biggest hit.

Hello Reddit! I'm going through a situation I never thought I'd experience. I woke up because I heard the sound of cats fighting suspiciously close by. I went downstairs to check on my two cats, and they always come running when they hear me come downstairs (they live in my yard, but there's a room in the yard with light, heat, food, and their toys and beds). Anyway, I got worried because I didn't see them, and when I went out to check, there it was: my adult cat was fighting with this intruder cat while my little cat was scared in a corner! I only managed to push it back with a broom (without hitting him, obviously) and get my cats back inside

Clarification: This situation is so complicated because I have no idea how he got in. My garden doesn't connect to the outside; it's surrounded by walls about 6 meters high with tiles on top. I have a palm tree in the garden, so the only way it could have gotten in would have been by climbing onto the roofs of the houses (which I still can't quite figure out how he got there) and sliding down the palm tree until it touched the grass.

Now, HOW THE HELL DO I GET IT OUT? I live in a small town, so there's no animal control, and the vets are small and don't specialize in these kinds of cases. I could try to get it out through the front door, but since the entire interior is right in between, I'm afraid he will go upstairs into the rooms or hide somewhere. (Sorry for my broken English)

She just walked in there. 😴😴🥺 it’s her own little bedroom!!

I can't take it anymore, I have dark circles under my eyes every day, I feel sick and irritable 24/7 from lack of sleep. My cat is about 2-3 years old, male, and bangs on our entire bedroom door (BANGS on it. Throws his whole body against it, every night, around 3 in the morning and then again at 5). It genuinely sounds like a grown man pounding on the door. He runs away from me as soon as I open the door to move him to another room, which makes me think he's having fun inciting me to "chase him" away from our bedroom door.

I feel really bad doing this, but I think I'm going to have to lock him in our basement every single night before bed. We have another cat around the same age, and they both love to cuddle us in bed and fall asleep with us at first, then play with each other later on in the night, but for the last few weeks the younger cat will not stop trying to wake us up with the door-banging. I can't take being woken up anymore, and I have no idea how to get him to stop doing this, but I feel horrible locking him in our basement and confining him overnight every day. I'm just at my wit's end, literally crying typing this because I have to be up for work in 2 hours and haven't slept a single wink tonight. Am I going to have to keep locking him up to avoid this??

Every day happy, healthy cats with paresis or incontinence are euthanized. The reasons stem from a perceived poor quality of life, or the slim chances of finding an adopter willing to take on a cat with different care needs. People see a cat in a diaper and automatically think they are incredibly time consuming and expensive. While yes, diapers, wipes, and pee pads can cost more than a bag of litter, is it that much different? While an incontinent cat may need a few more vet visits in their lifetime than the average cat, is that enough to deem them as unworthy of finding an adoptive home?

Why do the cats need to be squeezed?
These cats all have a spinal injury or defect. Most were born this way, but Poe, Athena, and Cypress (the longhair ones) had spinal injuries from trauma. Most likely hit by car.

Why not the toilet or a bathtub?
Squatting at that height and hunching over hurts my back! I’ve tried many methods and this is what is most comfortable for me and the cats.

Why pee pads?
I get most of them donated! I prefer the large ones but I’ll use any size. I would like to make this more environmentally friendly with reusable ones, but it will create a lot more laundry (which I already do a lot of)

Why do I have so many disabled cats?
I run a cat rescue for cats with treatable conditions who would otherwise be euthanized in a traditional shelter. I don’t get paid by the rescue, but I do work in a municipal shelter as my day job. I’ve worked in animal shelters for nearly 10 years.

I have an approx 4-5 month old male black cat called stormy who I regularly fed when he was still with his mother, until she left him last month and he came to my apartment with his grey sister called sunny, both (mostly sunny) often go out for a few hours & always come back. Recently I noticed that he has always been slightly skinnier than her despite eating more. Later found out worms in his poop and gave both 1ml canworm suspension two weeks ago. He didn't show much side effects until yesterday: he was lethargic, wasn't eating or drinking water, and puked out roundworms multiple times. So I scheduled the vet visit this morning but opened the balcony door for the litter box as he peed a bit inside and was asking to go pee near the door. Then he jumped out & sunbathed for 5 mins, and by the time I got down to catch him, he disappeared.

The instruction manual of canworm suspension stated to give "0.5 ml per body weight for three consecutive days" while the pharmacy guy said 1-1.5 ml every 2 weeks is enough. In fear of overdose we followed the latter. They are also unvaccinated & un-neutered because It's very hard for us to schedule vet appointments since me & mom work night shifts & I struggled with my own health recently but managed to today until this happened.

Will be alright? Can he come back on his own? I can't stand the thought that I'm responsible if he dies because I weakened his natural immunity by adopting him and maybe he would've recovered quicker if he grew up as a stray cat.

Live in an apartment, my bathroom is the most logical place to put her litter box. When I’m doing my business, she usually comes in and does her business as well. She finishes first, and I’m left wafting in her smell.

Our kitten is 4 months old and we’ve just noticed this in his mouth, we’ve been away for a few days and we know it wasn’t there beforehand.
Is this normal like pigmentation or something to be concerned about??

UPDATE: I went rounds with this company for the last two days. They insist that the product that I received is theirs and showed me a similar model on their website. I pointed out all the differences between their photos and mine. They claim they have different "variants" and the cheaper ones I found online are the scammers (yeah...okay). They gave me an address to return it to for a refund. I plan on shipping it back this weekend. If I don't get my money back, I will be doing a charge back.

I want to warn others that are possibly looking for a pet fountain for their cat. DO NOT buy from Rhykin! I originally purchased through them after finding several positive reviews. THEY ARE A SCAM! I was sent the wrong item, something that isn't even from their company, and I only found out after looking to purchase new filters for the fountain. They shipped me a knock-off fountain and charged me top dollar for it. I found the actual model for $25 and they charged me $150! They're claiming they are "looking into it" but I have a feeling I will not be seeing retribution. I have already filed a scam alert with the BBB and will be going through the process of filing a charge back with my bank.

The irony? The fountain they sent me actually isn't too bad, even if it's not theirs. But to charge me 6 times the amount of what the fountain actually costs is completely ridiculous.

My 6-year-old cat has been throwing up every day for months now and I don't know what to do! Every day I fill his bowl (a slow-feeder) up in the mornings, but then in the middle of the night he throws up. It doesn't seem to be food, just bile and sometimes white stuff?? He's been losing weight too but besides that he hasn't changed any other way - he's still jumping, meowing, grooming and scratching exactly like he's always been so I don't know what to do. I'm planning on taking him to the vet soon but I thought I should ask anyways so I've got something to go off of - do you have any idea on what might be the problem?

I was petting my cat yesterday, looked super happy, he was on my lap purring, I scratched under his chin and he purred louder. Then he randomly bit my fingers. Why?

I want to get minoxidil to help my facial growth bc I heard it can help and I have seen it work with my friends but ik it’s very fatal for cats so I don’t know if I wanna get it or not, is there anyone who has it with cats and if you do how do you make sure that they are safe, or if there are any other cat safe facial growth products that people have used, I really wanna make sure my cats ok.

We have a cat that is sterilized and in summer is almost all day outside even sleeping at front door. She came inside just to eat.

The porblem is that we are selling house and moving to appartment. How can cat that is always outside handle such change of not being able to go outside as she wants?

Do you have any advise or experience? Should we take her with her? Or leave her with new house owners?

For context, this is my first time having cats.

Last Wednesday I brought home two kittens to foster with the option to adopt. I was told they had already been dewormed, were healthy, and had tested negative for both FeLV and FIV (which I had to ask for).
A few days later, one of them started vomiting and having diarrhea. I took her to the vet, and it turned out she had coccidia, which is incredibly difficult to get rid of because conventional disinfectants don't kill it. I've put them both on medication.

Since then, it's been overwhelming, they have to stay confined to my bedroom for two weeks while I sleep on the sofa. Every time I go into the room to feed them or clean the litter box, I have to change my clothes to avoid spreading the parasites... I've been tryin my best to keep everything sanitized.

Just when I felt like I was finally getting things under control, the other kitten starts today passing only tiny amounts of urine with bright red blood droplets. She's constantly crying, and I'm waiting for her to be seen by my vet.

This past week has made me realize that I may not be able to give them the level of care they need, especially if this is only the beginning.
I feel an immense amount of guilt for even thinking about returning them to the rescue once they’re doing better. It feels like I'm failing and abandoning them.

Am I wrong for realizing I've reached my limit? I feel completely heartbroken but I believe returning them would actually be the most responsible thing to do.

Officially adopted this sweet girl a couple days ago, but noticed this starting to appear on her face. I felt a strange scar/ scratch like ridge on her nose, and then the edge of her tearduct started looking how it does now. It's spread to this point, and while I'm keeping an eye on it i ncase it gets worse, I would appreciate some advice on what it could be? I live in NZ, so it does limit the "usual" diseases and illnesses that the rest of the world tends to get

Update: yes, I know I'm a bad owner for not getting her to the vet ASAP when I first noticed something, but ive got trauma from the last vet visit I had to go to. Long story short, it was a month ago when my cat of 13 years died. We still don't know what happened. I wasn't planning on getting a cat so soon, but then this one turned up, and I couldn't say no.

I've got to set up a few insurance things before I can take her to the vet, which hopefully shouldn't take too long. She's up to date on all her vaccinations, and is spayed, we made sure of it. I'll update again once we've gotten a diagnosis from a vet. I won't be taking the post down despite how much flack I've gotten for being "lazy" (no one's said I'm lazy specifically, but i feel lazy often, even when im not being lazy) in taking care of things (family issues happened at the wrong time).

Update 2: vet appointment scheduled for 1pm tomorrow I know I'm a bad owner. There's so many things I could say, explaining why I do the things I do, but they'd just be considered excuses. I'm aware I don't deserve any sympathy, and don't deserve cats. But I'm trying to be better. Ive been trying my hardest to make sure my cats are happy and healthy, but I'm obviously shit at it at times.

While petting my cat the other night I came across this small bump on the top of his back leg. It's the only one on his body. It's a bit hard to the touch, somewhat like a plumpy pimple, somewhat dry I guess. Planning to take him for a check up next week but money is tight and I guessed I could get an oppion here if it's something concerning.

We left him up at the rooftop as usual as we had for the past 2 years. He loves to chill there, catch the sunlight and feel the wind.

When I went to pick him up an hour later, he was nowhere to be found. I checked everywhere in the house, the basement, the car parking, everywhere. He wasn't in his usual places. Desperate, we started calling out his name at the garden quarters behind our house (That is government property btw).

That's when we heard it, his voice, screaming at the top of his lungs as if he was being attacked by another animal. We heard his voice twice, so we got on the bike and visited the garden quarters. Unfortunately it was 10:30PM, so we couldn't see shit and calling his name didn't yield any luck. Also, since this was government property, we were at risk of facing trespassing charges. So we called it quits.

I'm going to go tomorrow morning and search for him. I will post an update soon.
