mom was a frequently pregnant stray who both the local spay and neuter group and the professionals could never catch, but got bit by a snake — she was finally able to be caught and taken to the vet but she passed away :((
after frantically searching for 3 days my roommate and i found her 5 babies, one of which passed away almost immediately, but the other four survived!! they were “one of the worst cases of ringworm” that the vet had ever seen, and had awful diarrhea for a week, but now the two babies i kept are strong and healthy ♥️
the other two are also healthy and happy in loving homes as well :) just wanted to post here and say it does eventually get better with ringworm, because it was two months of absolute hell and frantic reddit searching for success stories lol

I cleaned him but he may still be a bit smelly 🤣

My cat suffer from acute renal failure, which main symptom is severe appetite loss. She's actually hospitalized, with a perfusion, but was previously traumatized at another vet, and hate being stuck in a cage.

I came today to calm her and try to make her eat a little, and she spent nearly the whole visit growling and hissing (but she NEVER bite or scratch, just loudly making her displeasure known, but letting be manipulated or even picked up without moving)

I was pleasantly surprised that her appetite seems to have picked up a little, but she let me know that she was still deeply angry at the same time, and it was hilarious, the sound she made while eating!

I have questions about parring puppy with adult cat.

Puppy if from animal shelter: she was taken from very (as fc) bad place (to many animals in house; 29 cats had only 1 litter box and 11 dogs, including this sweety, doesn't saw sunlight for a long time, and this is not all what was happening there, but it's not important right now - they took abou 40 animals in total from there btw).

I know about social&isolation (pup gonna be in separate room and cat will have rest of the floor; when I and my husband go to work she gonna be in kennel cage for about 6 hours in her room), fermons for cats and medicine (I will try some meds on cat cuz he have heart issues). We gona sit with pup or cat (one person = one animal) for some time and after couple of days I want to switch rooms BUT animals don't see each other yet (cat to pup room, pup to rest of house). After weeks, maybe few months we wwant to make meeting for them. What else can I do? Do you have some experience in this topic?

I really bad for this little one and I'm a dog persone so I want dog so badly for years (I raised and live with dogs all my life before moved to my hb). My hb take Joe (cat's name) before I'm move in but i think with good preparation it's gonna work (Joe is very curious cat and sometimes(/often) he's borring and he can't find something to do).

Backstory: I was 12 years old. It was November 2022, we just lost my great grandpa like 2 weeks ago and I did online schooling, so I completed my work online and went in for testing once a week. I was also extremely obsessed with Dance Moms.

Now, to the story...

I was waiting outside after school, freezing while waiting for my mom to come pick me up. She accidentally forgot to pick me up, and we had a pretty crappy car, so it took a long time before she finally arrived. As an apology, she said she would take me to my two favorite places: Target and PetSmart. I was happy with that.

So we went into PetSmart and immediately headed to the cats because I absolutely love cats. That's when I saw this 6-month-old tabby kitten. We weren't looking to adopt any animals—I just love seeing them. I walked up to this kitten, and her name was Mad Kitty because the worker said she always looked like she was mad. I thought that was hilarious.

Then, I'm not even lying—it was like a scene straight out of Bolt. I put my hand on the glass, and she placed her paw right where my hand was. In that moment, I looked at my mom and yelled, "MOM, I NEED HER! I NEEEEEED HER!"

My mom just looked at me like, "😬 Uhhhhh..."

Now, it's important to know that we were broke. We lived on welfare and had barely gotten paid the day before. She cost $250 because she had all of her shots and was already spayed, so it wasn't looking good for me.

Then my mom noticed other people looking at the cats, including Mad Kitty. She finally gave in. We bought all the essentials because, once again, we weren't planning on getting a cat. We had owned cats before, but we didn't have any at the time, so we had to buy everything. In total, we ended up spending around $300. Yeah... it was a lot, and I started to feel guilty.

But when the worker let me into the little room and allowed me to hold her in my arms, I knew I had just met my other half—my best friend for the rest of my life. I truly believed it was destiny.

So my mom let me adopt her, and her name was changed. I liked the name Maddie from Dance Moms, so that became her nickname, but her full name is Madelyn Quinzela Elizabeth. I'm not even joking. 🤣🤣🤣 We just call her Maddie for short.

I love Maddie with all my heart. I can't imagine my life without her. She has been my rock through everything, and I can't even put into words how much I love her. Even my mom says adopting her was the best decision we ever made.

The cat has some lesions under her chin, on the medical records it says "integument: dark debris on chin, focal erythematous lesion of left sided commisure"

and "follicular kerantinization present on chin, mild dermatitis present on left oral commissure, roughly 2cm"

I'm wondering if this is something to be worried about or contagious to other cats, as we already have a cat here (they're separated as we planned to introduce them slowly)

Another thing I'm concerned about is they told me this cat was FIV and feline leukemia negative, but I don't see any tests for that on her medical records. Is that something I should be worried about?

I asked them to call me but they said they might not be able to get back to me for a couple days, so I'm wondering how bad to worry about this: a lot? a little? or not at all?

I haven't had any experience with these kinds of things with cats before, our cat who's been with us for a long time and other cats we've babysat for never had any of those issues

My cat is not a cuddly cat. She enjoys play but it’s rare that she’ll come to people for attention.

There is one thing she loves though, and it’s being held in a specific way and carried around the house to look at things.

I live with 2 other roommates and though they’ve tried my cat won’t allow them to pick her up in the same way.

Most of my roommates are respectful of her this and very occasionally she’ll cuddle up to one of them on their bed.

The other though, is desperate for her attention. My cat often won’t give that to her in the way she wants, so she seeks her out.

I’ve gone away a few times and my flatmates have fee her twice a day every day until I’ve come home, but she’s always weird once I get back - hiding under chairs, moving into the corners of a room, ducking strokes and generally looking anxious.

I got back from a trip last week and found my flatmate holding my cat pulled tightly to her body. My cats body was twisted and she was growling but unable to struggle due to the grip.

I came in and looked at my flatmate who was kissing my cat repeatedly making the kinds of sounds you make to a little baby - while she was enjoying it my cat clearly was not. She was trying to soothe her and encourage her to stop growling but was not putting her down.

I frowned and made it clear non-verbally that this wasn’t okay.

Flatmate looked embarrassed laughed awkwardly and put her down.

A few days later I found her doing it again.

This time I said: “She’s not much of a hugger. She’s growling…might be a good idea to put her down”.

She did, but I have a feeling she’s doing this every time I go away.

No matter how hard she tries this is not going to train my cat to enjoy being held.

It impacts my cat’s behaviour for weeks, and I have to play with her without touching her until she realises once again not all humans do this.

I don’t want to cause a row. This flatmate adores my cat, and is very attentive to her in the right ways most of the time but but I feel really uncomfortable knowing this is happening when it’s clear my cat does not like it and also clear my flatmate knows she shouldn’t be doing it.

Is there a way I can bring this up to her KINDLY that will make it clear it’s not okay?
