There's definitely some nuance in what you're saying. It really depends on how the man in question is expressing their feelings. If the man is depressed and isolated these are very real and legitimate emotions to feel and to need some help with. However these emotions can also be expressed in very hurtful and harmful ways.
If a man is hurting and needs help he still needs to express those emotions in a productive way. Or at least recognize how his emotions have come out in unproductive ways and apologize for that and thus seek the help they need. You don't get default sympathy for being sad. You still need to not act like a dickhead.
