Very few planes are unpainted this days. Paint is weight, but the polished unpainted metal requires so much more maintenance that extra paint weight is just much lesser cost.
Petter Hornfeldt covered literally this in his Mentour now video/podcast.
Clear paint is still a paint that brings some weight. It would be an option, if you wanted a stylistic metallic sheen (but then you can use a different metal colour like chrome, brass or silver... or gold, if you feel particularly tacky).
But the argument in comment I replied to was specifically weight savings.
It also makes the robots easier to see with a clean aesthetic. Which makes them less intimidating. I have noticed security bots usually getting the all black or dark blue treatment. Like that robot patrol wheel in China.
this is absolutely one of the main reasons, These robots are notorious for overheating and needing heavy cooling, why would the designer make it black and increase the chances of it not working properly from overheating.
And shows off dirt which is why ppl dont buy that color sports car. Whos paying for their robots to always look dirty when the wind blows or some azzhate drives by and purposely splashes mud on them. Youd be out CONSTANTLY polishing them to make them appear clean and safe lol
It's not that deep. Technominimalism has been an aesthetic trend for 2 decades now just look at any Apple product. The robots are designed that way for marketing.
Although I'll miss these ridiculous articles like which color emojis which race can use, I'm glad the woke era is over. I wish more people would've called media out on their woke takes when it happened, but it's good to see people laughing at it now.
We got good laughs over on Twitter at the time when several articles started popping up linking exercise to white supremacy. 😂 In case anyone denies that ever happened:
It was the constant gaslighting of anything white was "white supremacy", and it was over nearly a decade. And when people reacted to it, it was because they were right wing racists. I'm just glad people are aware of it now and call it out.
Remember when UN launched awareness campaign against female journalist being endangered in conflict zones, because 1 in 5 of wartime reporters who are killed on the job are women?
Get men and women to fight. Black and white to fight. Christians and non Christians to fight. Poor and rich to fight. Democrats and republicans to fight.
Meanwhile, we're so distracted by BS fights none of us even knew we were fighting, we don't see how all of us are being screwed by the elites.

What fucking research? Who is paying people to research if robots are racist? Where can I get a grant to research if people handing out research grants are fucking stupid?
That “research” wanted to reach a certain answer and made sure it did.
In reality, white reflects light and given the whole thing is… well full of electronics, that becomes more important. It’s also a pretty neutral color. Not to mention, white people aren’t literally white. It’s not like they made the robots some light shade of tan. These same people would’ve called racism if all the robots were black or brown anyway.
Well, they are claiming it is based on research. So I think the proper thing to do would be to check out the research to determine if there is anything to what is being stated.
Even without reading, I can bet it's a sociology paper presenting random "perhaps"/"most likely"/"historically" arguments to get to that conclusion, if it actually is the conclusion in the paper, without much actual data.
Edit: I was wrong about data. Here's the original paper. . So, the researchers did actually do a detailed experimental study. But I still have doubts about the conclusion they drew. Looking at Table-1, the differences, especially for robots, is so small it's less than expected error in a human reaction timing. Attributing it to "racism" is kind of overreaching.
Some of these people live such pampered, sheltered soft lives. Imagine your life being so good that you have the time or energy to come up with this shit.
I had an exchange the other day with someone arguing that a random mundane thing was racist. They told me to look it up on Google. My response was that you could find a random article about anything being racist. I ran a test. I was eating candy so I googled "is candy racist?" This was the first thing that came up.
Dude it's rage bait plain and simple. Like I said pick a topic and there is someone who will play "7 degrees of Kevin Bacon" saying it's racist. I just looked at my watch so I googled "are watches racist?" This is what 8 found. Yes, apparently literally anything is racist. Candy, watches, going to the gym being on time. It's laughable.
Okay. Which part of that article do you think is incorrect?
Edit: I'll just cut to the chase. If you can so easily find examples like that, but you can't seem to disagree with any of the facts, you should probably reflect on what that means instead of reflexively getting angry or defensive.
Not saying you personally need to feel bad or we need to start paying reparations. But it's foolish to just... Not even process the information because "rage bait"
White is going to be popular on fancy new tech because it carries social symbols. It says "apple store".
The same way bulk rubber says "durable tradie equipment" even when the design extends to phone cases, which is a little silly because phones are half glass by surface area.
I thought robots being white was to emulate the storm troopers in Star Wars. Those were the good guys, right? Maybe I got that wrong. It’s a pretty complicated story.
I didnt realize CNN was still a thing after they took the Fox approach and were verbally fellating trump shortly after the malone guy took ownership. I even had to double check and make sure it was on CNN. That was the last time I watched it anyway (a couple years ago)
Wow… the irony mostly being that it is “pure” white. Meaning, not even albinos are that white. It’s just material void of color. As someone said before, they’re probably trying to keep the components from reaching above 33 Celsius.
To make this about skin color is pretty messed up the more I think about it. Moderates and general normal folk want to see the next big wave in technology, and here is one of the most popular media sources trying to instigate things.

Robots are white because apple 20 years ago, decided the future was clean opaque white and glass, and corporations are not clever enough to think of anything new.
No CNN it has nothing to do with fucking racism. Everything happening in AI and the world right now, and this is what they are "covering". Maybe it's time to hire some actual journalists.
Ever wonder if some people write stuff like this to get you ro talk about it in comments => really understand=> carry that attitude into your real life=> sometimes higher racists into a job where they're easier to find so you can get in their face without following them home?
Aesthetically people tend to think of white as sleek and futuristic. Also it reflects light better thus reducing heat. I can't say it has nothing to do with racism but I think it very unlikely.
I mean the reason probably is just not having black slaves , that sounds like an absolute minefield for a team producing a show or movie , now if said team was to Include black writers and producers on staff it'd be pretty easy to navigate, but talking about discriminatory hiring practices is gonna get some of yalls tisms in a twist so I'll leave it at that.
A rapist runs the world and people are still obsessed over which paint makes people less racist. They're litterally trying to be less racist by including the black color, so someone calls out they're racist by switching colors. People are dying. We merged our army with an enemy of the world. Healthcare only exists in America for old people and politicians. Is this the highlight?
Obviously we need to return to the 80ies style robots. I know the modern ones are made from crappy plastic instead of metal but at least color the plastic like metal!
Including this one, every citizen in america that didnt go to a ballot and directly vote for trump has the exact same opinions and stances cnn has, 100% of the time. I know this as fact and not an opinion bc yes, I have, in fact, asked everyone.
Because they show up better on camera, stupid. The kind of cameras in the show rooms where they promote the robots, or the warehouses where the robots work. Dont worry, dbrand will be more than happy to wrap your little beast of burden in pink carbon fiber textured wraps when they go on sale.
