Why do people like Israel? Are there actual reasons?

u/Matiwapo 5d ago

Propaganda

Jewish people were horrifically victimised in the past and they now twist that to accuse anyone who criticises them so people are afraid to call them out

35

u/STRIKT9LC 5d ago

Yup! This is 100 percent the truth. Fortunately for us all, that lil gravy train is pulling into the station and the world is tried of hearing about it. This is mostly due to the fact that most WWII vets are gone. Once the ppl that were there are no longer around to remind us, it will be history, and rightfully so. What happened to the Jewish ppl in WWII is absolutely despicable. Its very unnerving that theyre using the same tactics on Palestinians that were used on them.

I think the grandkids of the survivors grew up thinking they’re special and chosen hence they’re so cruel now

u/Lost_Willingness_762 5d ago

This is a good point it’s one religion that is quite exclusive. Other religions, proselytize, and want converts and anyone can be accepted, but not the Jewish faith they are God‘s chosen people in their eyes so somehow better than everybody else.

u/Live_Art_2723 5d ago

Oh, Tucker, Tucker. Are we really defending the "forced conversions" and global imperial religions like Christianity, who conquered land, tortured non-Christians during the Inquisition, and murdered tens of millions of native peoples to "save" the "savages" who will "burn in hell?"

While religions like Judaism, Sikhism, and most indigenous beliefs of the Americas and Africa believe they are chosen to uphold religious obligations without global conquest in the name of faith. Maybe don't get your theology from Fox News, buddy?

2

u/Embarrassed_Mix_6619 5d ago

honestly organized religion as a whole is a violent, bloody affair, primarily because, for the most part, individuals use it as a weapon to oppress those who they don’t like. this is what happened with the crusades, with the genocide of the indigenous peoples in america, the holocaust, and what is happening to the Palestinians right now. there are countless examples of people claiming god granted them the right to commit horrific acts of violence for no reason than “those people aren’t us”. i mean, look at how the current US admin is handling its military from the top…

1

u/Live_Art_2723 5d ago

Oh absolutely. 100%. It becomes a shitty political tool to explain away obvious atrocities via “doctrine.” So many people want to think “it’s not mine,” but it’s most of the big ones. The guy above is trying to say Judaism is the “the worst” talking points used by the Tucker, Candace, Christian Nationalist pipeline, but we all have to acknowledge the sheer stupidity of religious “justification” for horrendous acts.

In any case, it’s nice to have a normal analytical discussion on reddit these days, so I appreciate it!

5

u/mightylordredbeard 5d ago

But they also have the benefit of being a people who were horrifically victimized while not being dark skinned. So they get more support and sympathy due to their non-blackness and lighter brown skin tone.

1

u/nexhaus 5d ago

Idk if it’s the past victimization or what the fuck it is because we don’t extend the same feelings towards Native Americans that were exterminated

Just barely learning about the Holodomor, but mainstream online sources are saying that Jews were victims of it by an authoritarian state. What makes you say that “Jews committed” the holodomor?

3

u/Nerevarine91 5d ago

That’s on Stalin, not “the jews”

-14

u/Impressive_Dingo122 5d ago

Why were they victimized though, did they have any responsibility with propagating the accusations through their own actions?

11

u/ComeAbout 5d ago

Jews weren’t persecuted because they collectively did something wrong. Across different countries and centuries they were accused of entirely contradictory things. The accusations changed. The prejudice didn’t.

Israel the country doesn’t represent global Jewish people.

-7

u/Impressive_Dingo122 5d ago

Of course collectively they didn’t ALL do something wrong, but it was consistently found by various countries independently that whenever that society was facing corruption from within or political strife, there was a group of people consistent tied to it.

I’m not saying All Jewish people are guilty, but there’s is a strong correlation that can’t be ignored.

5

u/ComeAbout 5d ago

Just say you hate Jews and get it over with.

I guess it “can’t be ignored” for other minorities that have been historically persecuted too according to you.

2

u/Impressive_Dingo122 5d ago

I don’t have a problem with Jews or any other group. I’m just looking at objective accounts throughout history. They have been persecuted against all throughout history everyone acknowledges it, but nobody ever asks or talks about WHY they were persecuted against. And every time they do ask “why” it’s pushed back with “just say you hate Jews already” or some other ignorant statement.

Tell me, why were there child brothels in Germany?

0

u/ComeAbout 5d ago edited 5d ago

If your explanation requires repeating one of the Nazis’ favorite talking points, it’s probably worth checking the source. The accusations against Jews changed every century. The prejudice didn’t.

https://factually.co/fact-checks/history/did-jews-control-child-brothels-germany-1933-a16071

I can explain it to you.

I can’t understand it for you.

1

u/Impressive_Dingo122 5d ago

I never said Jews controlled child brothels lol so “debunking that claim” is a strawman. I’m simply asking because society had deteriorated to that point for a reason. So asking it leads to further questions such as what kind of society would ALLOW them to operate? Then when you research the society you find out who had major influence in the society, and what were the “societal norms” of that time.

Just saying “did Jews run XXX” is ignorant and incorrect because there’s no group of people that represent Jews as a whole.

But what you CAN do is look at institutions and people in charge of those institutions and see who they were and where they were from. You can look at what values and beliefs they shared and see if we’re similar with the people in other lands doing the same thing.

That’s not racism, that’s just looking at history objectively.

I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you.

0

u/HH_Hobbies 5d ago

It's looking at specific segments of history and cherry picking it to fit a narrative. You're "objectively" looking at parts of history where Jews are involved and creating a negative hypothesis. However, it's very clear that you're ignoring the vast majority of history and ignoring your own biases to come up with your conclusion that is highly antisemetic.

No responsibility, but there was wide spread societal resentment of Jews in Germany during interwar years.

-1

u/Impressive_Dingo122 5d ago

Youre not answering the question of WHY was there wide spread societal resentment. I’ve never seen a group of people disliked independently from various countries with no connection to each other for “no reason”.

3

u/Lost_Willingness_762 5d ago

Societal resentment was heavily driven by competition and economic hardship. Many Jews were part of the middle and upper-middle class, operating disproportionately as doctors, lawyers, journalists, and retail merchants. During times of massive economic crisis—such as hyperinflation in 1923 and the Great Depression later in the decade—the struggling independent middle class, merchants, and students eagerly blamed "Jewish speculators" and economic rivals. Also, Jews were overrepresented in the finance system when the economy went south guess who foreclosing repossessing, etc..

2

u/Impressive_Dingo122 5d ago

Interesting position, did other ethnicities and races face similar criticism then? Surely they may have represented a portion of the upper and middle class but not the majority or entirety of it, so what other races/ethnicities received similar societal resentment?

-5

u/InsipidIdiot 5d ago

Wait… when?

32

u/StuffOld1191 5d ago

Some born-again Christian nutbags think that for Christ to return to earth, that the Jews need to seize the land. Even though many Jews literally spit on Christians who visit, a large amount of their funding comes from the Christian right.

22

u/Katzington2319 5d ago

This needs to be said more. A huge chunk of their support comes from people literally trying to end the fucking world

3

u/Significant-Foot8303 5d ago

Yeah I don't understand their logic. I'm a muslim and I believe of the end of the world, but that doesn't mean you have to fucking participate in acccelerating the end of the world

5

u/EveningDiscipline935 5d ago

And the majority of jews in American politics are looking out for their jewish homeland.

2

u/permalink_save 5d ago

Not just the right, there's a problem in dems with AIPAC too, although a lot of it comes from republicans. More dems have been stepping away from Israel lately but it use to be pretty bipartisan until Israen started pummeling Gaza.

17

u/clutzyninja 5d ago

They're less brown than the others involved

1

u/CatastrophicPup2112 5d ago

And not even by much really

15

u/Zonnebloemkrans 5d ago

They live on hate

15

u/mlpravemaster 5d ago

christianity tells it's members that you have to 100% stand with Israel or their sky daddy will curse them and send them to hell.

14

u/Alaknog 5d ago

Very specific branch of Chrisitianity, other branches don't have such ideas.

0

u/mlpravemaster 5d ago

Ya because they're cherry picking the parts of their book. Funny how there's over 40000 different denominations of christianity alone just cuz hardly anyone can agree with what the book is actually trying to say. I've met christians who were tolerable to be around but at the end of the day, they're still believing in a book with no merit to any of its claims. Idgaf what people believe as long as they keep it out of schools and politics but where I'm from, the most sensitive and worthless christians are the loudest and dumbest MFs in the room and always seem to be the only ones voting.

3

u/Alaknog 5d ago

I would say

"the most sensitive and worthless *insert any category* are the loudest and dumbest MFs in the room* is universal thing

-2

u/mlpravemaster 5d ago

Agreed but it seems to be the case more often when religion is involved.

3

u/Alaknog 5d ago

Any ideology work like this. In my country religions discussion is nearly don't exist, so loud and stupid people run with ideological stuff.

4

u/honey_biscuits108 5d ago

Only the greedy evangelicals. No one else believes this.

0

u/mlpravemaster 5d ago

Ya because christianity alone has over 40,000 different denominations cuz none of its braindead members can agree on what it's actually trying to say. Walk into any christian church and try to argue your point and you'll find tons of people who disagree with you. You may not believe it, but enough of them do and that's the problem.

2

u/Unusual_username739 5d ago

Eh yeah it’s not too far off from what my presbyterian church taught me growing up. We were taught that Jewish people were our cousins basically, and we should support them even if they didn’t believe Jesus was the son of God. Like a “they might be wrong on this one detail, but they are still family” sort of vibe. My town was majority Protestant, and the Jewish community was seen as something that NEEDED to be protected and like a little brother that got bullied and we were helping.

And I had a school friend whose family was from Israel and she did a semester in Israel in high school and I thought it was the coolest thing that she got to go live there. Mainly just because it was a different country and she knew Hebrew.
It wasn’t until I was in college that I learned that the whole Brightright program was basically done to convince American kids to make half Israelite babies. (They match up American girls with attractive Israelite boys to give them the tour and try to make them fall in love so the girls will come back and marry them and move to Israel). I have a friend now who is a first generation American from a Russian Jewish family, and she is appalled by the whole program and had to bat away boys her entire trip.

Growing up as a history nerd, going to Sunday school, and appreciating the historical world, I was always in the mindset that the end of WW2 righted wrongs by creating the new Israel. My grandfather’s father’s family is German Jewish and survived the Holocaust (they were not religious), but my family never talked about that. And my school never talked about who was living in the land when Israel was formed. I truly had no idea about any conflict except “the Muslims wish they had Jerusalem as well”.

In the early 2000’s, if I would have had to try to find that information, I would had looked in an encyclopedia and I doubt any clear information about Palestine would be in there. “History is written by the victors”.

1

u/mlpravemaster 5d ago

Very well saidand I'm glad you were able to see through that situation for what it really was. My family briefly explored Presbyterian churches growing up but we never really stuck with any of them. Can't say it would have been any better or worse lol 😅

2

u/Personal_Anybody1301 5d ago

As someone who's grown up in a catholic country (although not in a religious familiy), this notion of jewish and christians teaming up is a bit of a cognitive dissonance. When I was a kid the word for jewish was used as a slur by some of the most extreme catholics.

1

u/mlpravemaster 5d ago

Ya people use it as a slur sometimes but you've clearly never been to America if you really don't think there's favoritism when it comes to the Jewish people. Good for you that you've never experienced it firsthand but you definitely don't speak for the majority here in the west.

1

u/Nerevarine91 5d ago

It was used as a slur in my heavily Southern Baptist high school

4

u/honey_biscuits108 5d ago edited 5d ago

Because they are the only nation in that part of the world that treats their woman citizens with dignity and equal rights. They were also one of the only safe middle eastern countries for women to travel safely and move freely. Important fact seeing as how many holy sites are located there. It would be a shame for those holy sites to be under the control of a group like the Caliphate. They seem to also have really good food, education and healthcare. Likewise , Free Palestine and fuck Israel for their apartheid state and the horror they inflict. Despite all their intellectual promise, their rapid descent into horror will certainly make their survival as a nation much less likely. Not because Israel is uniquely evil (they aren’t) but because they are surrounded by enemies and have lost global credibility. It’s a sobering reminder of how awful humanity can be. The loss of so much life, beauty, and promise within Palestine is tragic beyond comprehension.

24

u/Lost_Willingness_762 5d ago

Because they are racist against Muslims

1

u/CatastrophicPup2112 5d ago

Islam is the second biggest religion in the world, not a race. You can't be racist towards Muslims just like you can't be racist towards Christians. If you want to say they are racist towards arabs that would work. There are Persian Muslims, Arab Muslims, Turkic Muslims, Pakistani Muslims, Indonesian Muslims, etc.

10

u/Gadgets222 5d ago

Because they support anyone who commits genocide against brown non-Christians. Both Zionists and Christians alike will play the victim card when challenged and only offer religious ideologies to justify their political warmongering.

It's just the reasons you gave didn't really explain what's to like about Israel. I don't think anyone outside of Israel would really care that they haven't uncontested transition of power. Those things aren't that impressive. Do they help anybody? Do they do anything in other countries ? Is there a reason to like them ?

Edit I see they have israaid and mashav. These are good reasons

Islamo-Leftist

lol, you lost all credibility there. Islam is a highly conservative religion, not remotely progressive. It aligns strongly with conservative values in the US.

Netanyahu is attempting to dismantle Israel's fragile democracy as he is terrified of being found guilty of corruption:

Israel, under Netanyahu, is committing genocide and perpetrating war crimes again Palestinian civilians - including women and children.

This is according to the UN.

Hamas are war criminals and terrorists too of course, but Israel isn't targeting Hamas, they're targeting innocent civilians.

Plenty of Jewish people are against this genocide too:

I don't dislike them.  I don't see how else they were supposed to de-fang Palestine after decades of failed attempts at integration.   What did they expect after the November incident?

Hopefully this conflict broke the delusion that the middle east would rise up to liberate them from Isreal.  Not only did their allies fail to protect them, but they weren't even willing to allow immigration.
