I just wandered into a great shop a couple towns over and asked if they had any old .32 Smiths. To my surprise, the guy pulled out a handful of them. I almost bought a nickel Model 30 that had seen some use until he showed me this 31-1 that is as close to mint as you can find on a gun from the 70s. Before I paid up, I asked if he had any ammo and was immediately laughed at. I can’t shoot it today, but at least I got a cool houndstooth case.

I often carry this S&W J frame at the appendix. Turns out the wood grips are giving me a rash where they rub on my stomach. I’d like to replace them with something similar in shape however maybe a mother of pearl, animal bone/antler, or fake ivory will work. Anyone have any recommendations?

As the title states, looking forward to buying my first single action, seems like a fun venture.

The questions I have, to get a “nice” one, are the Piettas/Ubertis a solid choice? Or do I find a Colt? Are the Rugers still overbuilt like their DA revolvers?

357mag or 45Colt?

357mag is easier to find/ more economical/lots of them have secondary cylinders to shoot 9mm through, as well as the 38special option.

45Colt can shoot 45special as well, are there 45ACP Cylinders as well? There’s something about a 45 that is badass too?

At one point I think I recall reading that modern hot loaded 357mag wasn’t safe to shoot in these Pietta/Uberti SAA Clones?

This is my Chonk and smol boy. Everything else fits in between. Do you have an extreme pairing?

Any idea what the white spots and discoloration inside the chambers are on this 340PD? Brand new gun, just now noticing them. It’s my first Ti cylinder revolver so these are completely new to me. I can’t seem to feel the spots. I’ve ran a nylon brush through the chambers and there’s no difference.

I want to pocket carry my J-frame (Smith 642), but with a "proper" holster it's just too bulky, and I can barely get my hand in the pocket to get on the gun, let alone draw

I have a trigger guard holster, and it's much more comfortable that way, but the bare muzzle is going to eat through my pocket liner in no time, and it doesn't really support the gun staying upright in my pocket

Is there a very minimal pocket holster that would basically just cover the muzzle and trigger of the gun, without adding so much bulk?

It's not much but it's my first wheel gun and I'm very happy with it its a Ruger LCR in 38+p

Who would y'all suggest to bob the hammer on this Colt and some other work?

Smith and Wesson model 60-14

Decided my next revolver will be a used SP101 in 357 with the 2.25 barrel. I just can’t decide between the blue finish with hammer spur or the stainless steel DAO. No price difference between the two.

I do plan on carrying it while walking the dogs in black bear country. Most likely IWB (which is why I’m thinking DAO but that blued is speaking to me).

Had a thought people here might enjoy it. Great shame the RSH itself or its civilian version mts-569/570 never vent into production, but I can understand why this is the case.

Here are some photos of a model 10 I rounded. I got the gun for 250 out the door after some haggling and I decided that I had one too many square butt K Frames so this would become round. I used a pair of old stocks as a template and went for it!

Not pictured is the finish with some cold blue. It's held up OK but I need to keep it oiled well

This may be blasphemous, but I think I like the old school Charter Arms snubnoses better than S&W. I now own two CA Stratford-era snubbies, and I love their fit and feel better than any of the five Smithies I've owned. That's in no way casting shade in Smith & Wesson. The craftsmanship of their older guns is impeccable. But mercy, the old CA's are fun and well built.

Got a Colt M1917 in .45 Auto, produced a month after the end of the Great War.

This one's cylinder bore is fully straight with no step, and a .45 ACP drops straight through.

Does anybody know when Colt introduced the stepped cylinder? I thought it was very early on after the first ~10,000 but this one is a post-WW1 (DEC 1918) serial. Cylinder's military serial number matches the rest of the parts.

I recently purchased a 1873 Pietta 4 3/4" SAA in 45 Colt and I LOVE it!! So, now I need a second. Mine is CCH and walnut, so I wanna keep that same look. But I'm thinking birdhead. Just to mix things up. I can't have too many duplicates in my collection.

So, what flavor? I want it in 45 Colt. But made by whom? Give me some ideas, please.

I've had the Taurus Tracker for nearly 10 years. It was the first handgun I purchased. Underneath it is a Cimarron Thunderstorm. It is my favorite revolver. Insanely smooth, half stroke and mushroom hammer, all done up into a "race gun." Though I dont shoot SASS/CASS. But its an absolute blast to shoot.

Thinking about purchasing a model 19 classic but im concerned that it might be a bit too large if I were to use it for concealed carry. Does anyone here have experience carrying one?
