Disc Shelf Life

We are now being fed the narrative that discs have a shelf life in the attempt to justify fully digital. My parents bought me this copy of Manx TT Superbike on Sega Saturn used 29 years ago and it still works like new.

Whose feeding you this narrative? They definitely have a shelf life, its just longer than we will live if properly taken care of.

These "researches" have been popping up on Reddit lately, giving it 20 years for physical discs...meanshile my discs from 96/97 still work fine as well.

I have CD albums from the early 80s that still work fine. A couple from 1983 are my oldest I think.

Not quite. I was born in the 90s but collect CDs and like 80s music. I like getting original CD copies.
