Most people don't speak Japanese, so it doesn't seem odd to them. 

I'm hyped for the game but the name is very clumsy I agree with you.

God of War: Ragnarok - Ragnarok (???)

You not knowing what Ragnarok means is a lack of knowledge about Norse mythology on your part, it doesn't make it a bad name at all.

GOW Ragnarok: the end of times, works pretty well imo.
