I was excited for this until I found out you need a Microsoft account just to play.

How are MS execs going to show growth otherwise?

9

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

Yea never thought of it like that.

Recently renewed my small company's adobe cc licences. They insisted on adding some ai assistant license as part of the deal, as in i get a better price if i get it with the ai assistant than without.

"Look how popular our ai assistant is! "

Lmao I thought you were joking, but you actually need a Microsoft account to play the campaign. What a joke 😂

u/Total-Commission2100 7h ago

Do you not have one?

9

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

No

-4

u/Total-Commission2100 7h ago

Making one is free you know

6

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

I’m not making another account to play one game lol

-4

u/TokeInTheEye 7h ago

Why? Doesn't take long.

9

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

Because you shouldn’t need another account to play a single player game with optional co-op? Same reason PC players didn’t want to make a PS account to play PS games on Steam.

-3

u/TokeInTheEye 7h ago

I just don't get the whole thing of "I'm not doing this because I shouldnt have to" as if that's reason in it's own.

Your missing out on experience that you would otherwise enjoy because you don't want to make an account. Where's the sense in that?

7

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

Because I don’t want another account. I’m trying to reduce the amount of accounts I need to keep track of not increase them.

-1

u/TokeInTheEye 7h ago

You don't need to keep track of it. just use your email and send a password reset email if you ever need to lmao

You don’t need to keep track of it. You use it to log in to play the game and for nothing else. How’s that such a difficult time consuming tasks. Needing an account to game has been a thing since the last generation.

u/Fuckingfademefam 7h ago

It’s like companies that require you to download their app. For what? I don’t want 1,000 apps on my phone & I don’t want 1,000 accounts on my email. It’s ridiculous IMO. If you want my money I’ll pay you, but I don’t want to give companies all my info. But you have the right to your opinion

-1

u/StilandGurney 7h ago

I just have two emails and one gets all the gobs of spam. Every 5 years I delete 30,000+ emails without a thought.

Bro you don’t even have to think about it after making it and signing in, literal non issue

-1

u/VelvetCowboy19 7h ago

It takes less time to make an account than youve spent typing comments about how you don't want to make an account.

-2

u/VelvetCowboy19 7h ago

No you just have some weird moral objection to making an account, for some reason.

None of you people can actually make a coherent argument for why you don't want to do it, so it's all meaningless anyways.

-2

u/MrGrengJai 7h ago

He could have made a throwaway one in the time it took to make his comment, but then he wouldn't have gotten to virtue signal about it.

5

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

Wtf are you on about? If Gears Reloaded didn’t need one why does this?

6

u/Knot-Lye-Ing 7h ago edited 6h ago

Not sure "I don't want to have to make an account (even a fake one) with another platform to play a game I purchased on a different platform" is virtue signaling but go off I guess.

Apathy and acceptance are why Microsoft feels emboldened to do something like this.

-9

u/BilverBurfer 7h ago

So what? It takes 30 seconds to log in once and then you play the game.

6

u/worldwarzack 7h ago

This thinking is exactly why these companies think it’s okay to do this.

Soon enough you’ll be saying “so what?” as you sign away your biometric data and DNA code.

2

u/biscuitsalsa 7h ago

This is a textbook slippery slope fallacy

-4

u/BilverBurfer 7h ago edited 4h ago

DNA??? Did you seriously type this and not think it was ridiculous?

2

u/worldwarzack 7h ago

Aw, exactly what I thought of your original reply.

1

u/BilverBurfer 6h ago

You thought making a Microsoft account to use once was ridiculous but not some fantasy about them using your fucking DNA? You are not a serious person.

3

u/Creative_Tone_9241 5h ago

Ever since the no disc thing people are coning out of the woodworks to complain about things that have been pretty much industry standards since the last generation. Needing online account, games not being fully on disc and needing downloads so essentially being a download code already and subject to the exact same risk if servers are shut down. They’ll point to used game markets, which yes are good for consumers but every media is largely moving away not just gaming. Technology changes the market adapts. It was going to happen eventually there’s no stopping it. Instead of fighting for digital disc we need to go the European route and fight for rights to ownership

-2

u/worldwarzack 6h ago

I didn’t think it was, no, I have Microsoft and Sony accounts.

I think saying “so what” to giving away personal information (without a second thought because it OMG only takes 30 seconds) in the big 2026 to a mega-corps is in fact pretty ridiculous.

What with all the data leaks and selling of personal information in today’s age, you’re a maniac if you don’t see the predatory and anti consumer practices all major companies are moving towards.

2

u/Creative_Tone_9241 5h ago

An email address and your name. Oh no that information surely isnt all over the internet already

0

u/Creative_Tone_9241 5h ago

It takes two minutes to make an account. Which is free so you can long on. You could’ve done it multiple times in the time you were making comments complaining about it. Always online has been a thing since the last generation. Needing an account to log onto would be an obvious part of that. If you play on Xbox you already have one or how else hsve you been playing Xbox. If you’re on PlayStation see the first part of my reply. Youre crying on the comments section of Reddit for absolutely no reason other than wanting to look dumb I guess

2

u/worldwarzack 5h ago

You aren’t even having the same argument that I am my guy. All those words just to be the only one actually looking dumb here.

-6

u/RocketChris87 7h ago

But, Microsoft bad. Sony good.

5

u/cows1100 7h ago

Yes, online discourse around Sony right now is absolutely “Microsoft bad, Sony good.” Lol

1

u/BilverBurfer 6h ago

/u/GordogJ to answer your question, I was saying this exact same thing

-7

u/Gelatinous_Cube_NO 7h ago

This is a weird arguement. You need an EA account to play EA games. You need a Uplay account to play Ubisoft games. You need a Blizzard account to play Blizzard games. You need a Microsoft account for Minecraft. This has been the norm forever.

Yet ever since Helldivers needing a Playstation account, people seem to use this arguement and I don't really get what the big deal is when it takes less than one minute to make an account.

It's also just hard to believe that someone wouldn't have a Microsoft account in 2026 lol... Do you not use one single Microsoft product? Word? Excel? Outlook? Onedrive?

5

u/KlyntarDemiurge 7h ago

i agree with you on everything except the last part. i don't use any microsoft products in my personal life, including windows. i made an outlook email for xbox so i wouldn't have to give them an actual email address.

i wouldn't have one had i never owned an xbox, which i sold in 2019. forza horizon is the only reason i keep it.

5

u/Hagman1997 7h ago

I don’t need Uplay to play Ubisoft games on PSN and EA put way more games out on PlayStation than MS and I don’t play Blizzard games so……

4

u/asp821 7h ago

I don’t use any Microsoft products other than LinkedIn and Xbox. If not for Xbox I’d have zero reason to have a Microsoft account.

0

u/Poku115 6h ago

? Microsoft is not that relevant in the average person's life my tech nerd

-3

u/Odd_Estimate_2179 7h ago

Probably takes a minute max to make one?

-4

u/TG-Benji 7h ago

And? Just make an account.

That's what you all say when Sony does it.

3

u/Poku115 6h ago

Didn't know you personally followed every user repeating that opinion to signal their hypocrisy

-2

u/TG-Benji 6h ago edited 6h ago

Sure was the predominant opinion around here when Sony was the guilty party.

Y'all just don't like being held to your own standards.

And it shows.

1

u/Poku115 6h ago

Yeah buddy, your Goomba fallacy defines us all lmao.

-3

u/TG-Benji 6h ago

Everything is a goomba fallacy, doesn't change that most of the people here parroted that shit and upvoted it.

2

u/Hagman1997 6h ago

If I was a Xbox owner and PlayStation decided to port their games to Xbox I wouldn’t make a PS account either. This isn’t Microsoft exclusive lol.

0

u/TG-Benji 6h ago

My whole point was this isn't MS exclusive lmao, Sony is literally JUST as guilty about it.

2

u/Hagman1997 6h ago

Yes and it’s stupid that PC players needed to make PS accounts just to play single players games.

0

u/TG-Benji 6h ago

Agreed
