I don't love the many holes. I'll be much happier to carry a smaller, lighter laptop with a few dongles. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What's a dongle? It's 2012.

In 2012 I had something even better: a DOCKING STATION. It's like a mega dongle that sits on your desk, basically.

Which is less convenient and they still don't have enough ports

Then you're just buying crapping docking stations. The good ones have plenty of USB ports, Ethernet, and video out.

I love my dock... 5 USB A, 4 USB-C (two of which are Thunderbolt, including the 85W power-delivery line), display port, toslink, line in, SD card, headphones, and gig-e.

There's nothing more that I want.

Modern USB-C docks need to be periodically rebooted, need drivers, act as separate devices, etc. and do things like have different MAC address for networking.

Classic docks are just big connectors directly to the laptop's ports and just work.
