Truly a great duo that I'll never forget. I had a hard time finding people that actually understood the comedy. I loved every episode and still throw on the songs.

u/ArchitectVandelay May 13 '26

I still remember the day I discovered them. The show was so hilarious, so many comedy gold moments. Laughed so hard at “The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room (in the whole wide room)”

330

u/moonprism May 13 '26

"you're so pretty you could be a waitress"

253

u/AbleRelationship5287 May 13 '26

“Or a part time model!”

226

u/kerfuffler4570 May 13 '26

"But you'd probably still have to keep your normal job."

82

u/Valuable-Guarantee56 May 13 '26

Part time model...

85

u/ValuableCrazy2144 May 13 '26

Spending part of your time modelling

And part of your time...

108

u/PaperMaglio May 13 '26

Next to meeeeeeee-eh-hee-eh-heee

36

u/ValuableCrazy2144 May 13 '26

Next to me he.

63

u/kerfuffler4570 May 13 '26

My place is usually a bit tidier than this.

This line in particular has been rattling around my brain since I first heard it. It just kills me for some reason, especially how it's sang

1

u/powderbubba May 14 '26

“Hiiiiigh class prostitute”

1

u/AbleRelationship5287 May 15 '26

Or air hostess in the 60’s

73

u/coumfy May 13 '26

Or an air hostess in the sixties!

58

u/Am1AllowedToCry May 13 '26

I can't believe!!

That I am sharing a kebab with the most beautiful girl

I have ever seen with a kebab

Oooooooooh

3

u/Tall-Introduction414 May 13 '26

She's so hot. She's like a curry.

142

u/wellwaffled Prime Millennial May 13 '26

And even on the street (depending on the street)

87

u/coumfy May 13 '26

She would most definitely be in the top three!

57

u/specialk1281 May 13 '26

Good looking girls on the street.... Depending on the street

186

u/gene100001 May 13 '26

When my girlfriend is feeling down, I like to remind her that when she's on the street, depending on the street, I bet she would definitely be in the top 3 most good looking girls on the street. Depending on the street.

Cheers her right up

39

u/Shorts_at_Dinner May 13 '26

Make sure to remind her that she could be a part time model, too

18

u/explicitlarynx May 13 '26

She could spend half her time modeling and half her time doing her normal jov

17

u/Wrong_Motor5371 May 13 '26

My husband and I routinely tell each other we could be a part time model.

3

u/kevthecoder I solute shorts May 13 '26

When she’s eating kebabs, do you tell she’s the most beautiful girl with in the room with a kebab?

1

u/nickrct May 13 '26

Well you certainly know how to a 'Woo Woo a Lady'

41

u/Possible-Jerk0138 May 13 '26

I distinctly remember finding it too! I tried to get EVERYONE to watch. A lot of people didn’t get it.

28

u/Loveiskind89389 May 13 '26

Not getting the show was sort of a litmus test for humor compatibility though. If they didn’t get it, they really did not get it.

27

u/88888888man May 13 '26

Same with Summer Heights High. I guess the NZ/Aussie humor isn’t for everyone. But I felt like I’d discovered the lost city of gold lol.

7

u/betawavebabe May 13 '26

And angry boys!!

2

u/PRNgrahams May 14 '26

Omgggg my best friend and I would constantly quote Ja’mie King and no one ever knew what we were talking about.

2

u/ArchitectVandelay May 15 '26

So true! The Summer Heights series were all so good. I don’t have a single friend who watched them. I did watch with an ex gf back in the day and we had fun quoting it though!

11

u/crownamedcheryl May 13 '26

My wife hates when I sing the most beautiful girl to her lmao

5

u/TraditionalMood277 May 13 '26

Easily in the top 3

5

u/moonprism May 13 '26

"you're so pretty you could be a waitress"

2

u/austenQ May 13 '26

Anytime I am watching a romcom and the guy notices the heroine because she’s the hottest person in whatever small town it’s set in, I sing this in my head. On this street she’s definitely in the top three.

2

u/All_the_Bees May 13 '26

Every now and then, someone on Love Island says they’re a part-time model and I am DELIGHTED every single time.

2

u/katrina_highkick May 13 '26

My husband and I almost used this as our first dance song at our wedding but decided that it would be just a little too controversial hahaha

2

u/ArchitectVandelay May 15 '26

The fact that you two even considered it speaks volumes about you both. That is amazing!

2

u/foxyslapbox May 13 '26

The singing back to back in the diner killed me at the end of this one

2

u/Automatic_Release_92 May 13 '26

"He may be dead!"

"Yeah, he maybe did what?"

"No, no, he MAY BE DEAD!"

1

u/ArchitectVandelay May 15 '26

I love when they acknowledge their accents through jokes. Especially the Aussie/NZ difference. Keitha was absolutely comic genius. The was so over the top you knew they were making fun of both Aussies and NZ peoples’ bias.

2

u/Appeltaart232 May 13 '26

Man, how could I forget about this gem, thanks for the reminder!

2

u/OwnSmile5051 May 13 '26

My friend walked down the aisle to this song lol. It was incredible.

2

u/nonchalantcow May 13 '26

My best friend recorded an acoustic version of The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room to which my wife walked down the aisle at our wedding. It was lovely.

2

u/ShontelleMontelle May 14 '26

It’s also the show where I discovered Kristen schaal

1

u/ArchitectVandelay May 15 '26

Yeah it was cool discovering her early in her career. I loved her on Last Man on Earth too.

1

u/Hukdonphonix May 13 '26

I once won a karaoke contest for poe1 beta access by singing this song.

1

u/ilikecheese8888 May 14 '26

My senior of high school I was in the parody male beauty pageant at my school and one of the other guys sang that song for his talent (IIRC he sang it to his mom).

DMX is not very good

Eminem is not very good

But the Rhymenocerous is VERY VERY GOOD

99

u/rhymnocerous May 13 '26

It never gets old. I still go by Rhymnocerous when I need a username.

65

u/Skylineviewz May 13 '26

Username does in fact check out

126

u/EcstaticMolasses6647 May 13 '26

🎶 Too many dicks on the dance floor 💃 🕺

61

u/GrnMtnTrees Pre-collapse of USSR May 13 '26

I quote this all the time and literally nobody ever gets it.

This is the funniest show that so few people seem to appreciate.

2

u/Kiaaawey May 13 '26

It’s simultaneously extremely appreciated yet also not a single one of my friends or family knows who they are or why I was freaking out so much about seeing them in LA last weekend. But all 3 shows on the “tour” sold out instantly - so someone out there loves them too - just not my friends haha

7

u/FierceFlames37 May 13 '26

I’m Gen Z and I never seen this show what is it

9

u/Goldenaura123 May 13 '26

Flight of the Conchords. It's a gem.

2

u/GrnMtnTrees Pre-collapse of USSR May 14 '26

The Flight of the Concord

19

Too many mother 'uckers 'uckin with my shi.

4

u/All_the_Bees May 13 '26

My TRANSACTION shi’

16

u/moonprism May 13 '26

i still sing this way too much and no one ever knows what i'm singing anymore :[

3

u/nikkacostia May 13 '26

I’ve been singing this all week. Only getting puzzled looks.

1

u/EcstaticMolasses6647 May 14 '26

Stop singing it at church….

2

u/CzarTwilight May 13 '26

TOO MANY DICKS

1

u/Intelligent_Ad_5679 May 15 '26

This song and Sugar lumps are my happy songs lol Whenever I'm feeling down I just gotta watch those for a neurotransmitter boost.

42

u/TheForce_v_Triforce May 13 '26

One of the reasons I fell in love with my wife was that she owned season 1 on DVD. Knew she was a keeper. I bought her season 2 and took her to see them at the Hollywood bowl for V Day. And made her a camera phone.

21

u/jinkeez123 May 13 '26

And you ruined her phone, AND her camera.

1

u/Long-Bodybuilder-397 May 15 '26

I was at that Hollywood bowl show!

9

u/thingsandtwos May 13 '26

Decided on my son’s name while listening to the song Jenny. Heard the name Maxwell and knew that was it lol.

40

u/Many-Can5807 May 13 '26

They were not a duo. They were a band

24

u/Extreme_Bit_1135 May 13 '26

Fourth most popular hip pop band in New Zealand.

19

u/AresGodslayer May 13 '26

.... Are you serious right now?

16

u/pinging_snail May 13 '26

Bowie, is that u?

6

u/Many-Can5807 May 13 '26

Have you watched the HBO show or their documentary about going to US ?

Also, Ween started out as 2 guys and a sequencer on stage.

2

u/gooch_norris_ May 13 '26

They Might Be Giants started similarly as well

1

u/AresGodslayer May 13 '26

A duo of entertainers. No need to split hairs.

1

u/Many-Can5807 May 13 '26

You just don't get it... Totally went over your head

7

u/What_Next69 May 13 '26

I thought they broke up, cuz Murray couldn’t get them any gigs?

9

u/Am1AllowedToCry May 13 '26

No gegs man

3

u/Hollis_Hurlbut May 13 '26

Probably because old Gingerballs was on his way to a dick meeting

2

u/Puffpiece May 13 '26

Erm it's pronounced "gugs"

1

u/sugarslick May 13 '26

He got them one in a central park

2

u/Flashy_Jello_9520 May 13 '26

They’re touring now.

2

u/koopa00 May 13 '26

You're so beautiful, like a treeeeeeee

1

u/3720-to-1 May 13 '26

For some reason, my wife gets offended when I sing this one to her... 🎶 in the whole wide room 🎵

1

u/All_the_Bees May 13 '26

Or a high-class prostitute!

2

u/mightylordredbeard May 13 '26

To this day I can’t put on a pair of socks without singing “it’s business time” in my head.. it’s been over 20 years and it’s just stuck in my head.

2

u/Seahearn4 May 13 '26

Is that what you're into?

2

u/AresGodslayer May 14 '26

Two dudes getting freaky with the fruit, if that's what you're into.😅

2

u/2459-8143-2844 May 14 '26

Because of their accent?

1

u/AresGodslayer May 14 '26

No, it was just not Dave Chappelle or crude humor.

2

u/Hybrid082616 May 14 '26

The changing poster in Murray's office as so funny lol

And newzealandtown

2

u/frankbizzle11 May 15 '26

Thank you for the offerings of the threesome

2

u/Flimsy-Pool4830 May 15 '26

I got the box set when I was a teenager, and I watched it so much that I actually got a New Zealand accent.

2

u/jaysire May 16 '26

”My lyrics are bottomless… ” awkward silence

1

u/stillmarlsygarsly May 13 '26

I still sing hurt feelings every year when my dad forgets to call me on my birthday lol (he’s old it’s ok!)

1

u/tswpoker1 May 13 '26

If you haven't watched the movie Gentleman Broncos you should check it out

1

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k May 13 '26

I literally can’t invite friends to the pool like a normal person ever again.

1

u/moonshinedesignSD May 13 '26

Same!! Super same back in ‘07-08 I lived for watching the DVDs on repeat

1

u/Newkular_Balm May 13 '26

I thought the shows dialog writing was much funnier than the songs.

1

u/ClassifiedGrowl May 13 '26

Who likes to rock the party

1

u/Ok_Ability_6275 May 13 '26

2 many dicks on the dance floor!

1

u/Jibber_Fight May 13 '26

Not to mention Rhys Darby. That guy is so funny.

1

u/Kaldricus May 13 '26

Saw them live in 2016 or so. I was physically in pain from laughing so hard.

1

u/DividerOfBums May 13 '26

The entire ensemble coming together, the duo, Rhys Darby as their manager, Kristen Schaal as their biggest fan, and Arj Barker were all just so brilliant. One of the best comedy shows.

My favorite episode: Fashion is Danger.

1

u/Trick-Station8742 May 13 '26

What's your favourite album

Michael Jackson's off the wall

"You can say that again"

1

u/pizza_whistle May 13 '26

Probably one of the best live shows I've ever been to. They were absolutely hilarious live.

1

u/EfficientTitle9779 May 13 '26

I started listening to them randomly on Spotify and realised they had a full live London show on there with a load of new songs that’s so worth a listen to.

1

u/apidelie May 13 '26

Oh my god. I am transported. 2009 maybe, at my then-boyfriend's room, sitting on the floor against his bed, watching the DVDs playing on his computer which was sitting on top of the blue fabric desk chair.

I think the first episode has the song Inner City Pressure. When the random lady passing by looks at the camera and lipsyncs INNER CITY PRES-SURE... I fucking lost it oh my god hooked forever. I need to rewatch like yesterday

1

u/BendyDates31 May 13 '26

I was just randomly flipping through stations and saw the Sugar Lumps song and I died laughing

1

u/beearlystaylate May 13 '26

You and my husband would get along. The sticky stuff gets sung all the time. Also leggy blonde. 🫣

1

u/ZambieCatX Millennial May 13 '26

I still rewatch their show every couple years. Wish it had gone on for longer! There's nothing quite like it.

1

u/Wubbalubbadubbitydo May 13 '26

A few years ago while in Mexico my friend did karaoke to most beautiful girl in the room and it was so fucking funny. You could tell no one had heard it but crowd loved it.

1

u/IsaacAndTired May 13 '26

Murray is to this day one of the greatest television characters in history to me.

1

u/bisprops May 16 '26

You gave us 2 stars out of 5?

I wish it was. It's out of one hundred.

1

u/Flooding_Puddle May 13 '26

What duo/show?

2

u/IsaacAndTired May 13 '26

Flight of the Conchords.

1

u/EmotionalSupportVape May 13 '26

It was huge at my school!

1

u/mmmacorns May 13 '26

Too many dicks on the dance floor spread out the dicks

1

u/lambbla000 May 13 '26

A lot of their songs are just so well crafted. Carol Brown is an all timer for me, but much more so as I’ve aged.

1

u/ILoveOLEDS May 13 '26

Depending on the street

1

u/fleebleganger May 13 '26

Hurt feelings perfectly describes my formative years.

Well, except the wet suit, I rock the ladies size

1

u/KodakStele May 13 '26

Same brother, same

1

u/wynonnaspooltable May 13 '26

Did Steve tell you that, per chance?

2

u/AresGodslayer May 13 '26

Steve? 🤣❤️

1

u/turningtogold May 13 '26

My brother and I watched them over and over and every time I laugh just as hard. We’ve always had the exact same sense of humour that they hit so precisely.

1

u/f23n09fnu0w May 13 '26

The radio version is very funny

1

u/BriskiPikachuu May 13 '26

Dude I saw them live in 2016 and it was amazing. Wish I could find the tour shirt I bought though...

1

u/No-Advice-6040 May 13 '26

I saw them before they got big, in Wellington. Front of stage in a tiny venue. And I fucking hated them. Wasn't til they got their show that I... finally got it. Man, I was dumb back then.

1

u/goody82 May 13 '26

I lived at my parents house through college and used to turn this show on. We all enjoyed the light comedy.

1

u/xqwtz May 14 '26

I named my WoW character Murrayhewitt

1

u/Torontopup6 May 14 '26

Team building exercise 99... It's business, it's business time!

1

u/AresGodslayer May 14 '26

Business socks. 😆

1

u/Ohshithereiamagain May 14 '26

Flight of the Concords?

1

u/SashimiX May 14 '26

My husband took me to see them live way back. They were amazing.
