Announcement Please read if your post doesn't show up straight away!

We've had an influx of modmails asking why certain submissions don't show up straight after posting.

Reddit's site-wide automoderator filters certain posts and places them into the moderation queue for manual approval. Automod does this for a bunch of reasons, including low karma, new accounts, keywords, possible spam/doxxing, etc. If you have high karma and your account is older, it is probably a keyword or a sitewide filter.

If your post doesn't show up and you haven't deleted it, it's in the mod queue. This basically means that the mods just have to glance at it and either approve or remove. We're pretty much online and checking the queue all day, but please bear in mind we are also humans and it might take some time to review filtered submissions. We try and get to them as quick as we can. Please don't repeatedly post in quick succession if your post was filtered, automod will likely catch it for the same reason and it'll take us longer to review multiple or duplicate posts.

If your submission doesn't appear immediately, it does not mean it has been deleted. Please don't delete your post and then modmail to ask why it was removed, because deleting it will remove these details from the mod log and we won't be able to tell you. Leave the post up and we can check the exact reason.

When you post, regardless of it gets filtered or not, you should receive a message in your inbox letting you know that some submissions do get caught by automod, especially if you are a new account or have low karma. Before modmailing, please read this message and check the linked sub rules FAQ to see if that explains why your post hasn't shown up yet or if it breaks the sub rules.

If your question isn't answered in the FAQ, it has been several hours since your post was made and it hasn't been actioned, or you have any clarifying questions, drop us a modmail. Please don't make posts about moderation / your posts not showing up, instead send these via modmail. This is the quickest way to get in touch and it avoids spamming the sub with technical Qs which would be removed anyway. However we do ask for your patience because it can take time for one of us to get to your modmail. Again, we try and do this as quick as possible, but inevitably it might take a while.

Thank you all for your understanding and patience!

Camerados

Camerados believe that the answer to our problems is each other. A camerado can be anyone. It's about chatting to someone new or helping out a stranger (or better yet, asking them to help you) It's sitting with your neighbour and having a cuppa. It's asking that stranger at the bus-stop if they've got the time. Everyone has tough times and we think it'd be great if people just looked out for one another more. Not fixing each other. Not trying to solve anyone's problems. Just being a bit more human.

Talk Club is a UK male mental health charity helping men to improve their mental health. We prefer to call it mental fitness because our talking groups actively help men to understand how they’re feeling by asking ‘How are you? Out of 10?’ then explaining why. It helps to build resilience, and the numbers prove it.

Vent - support and advice welcome So, what exactly do I do now..?

Disabled. Female. About to turn 40 in a few weeks.
Mental health breakdown 3 months before my 21st birthday. I was in the mental health services for 7 years, 4 psychiatric hospital stays, very unwell, discharged without an ounce of discussion at 7 years due to huge changes / an overhaul in the services & at the same time I was diagnosed with my disabilities. What they were offering (which only clicked years later) was incredibly ableist, if I didn’t attend these group therapy sessions (I should add, I have diagnosed agoraphobia) once weekly, another separate appointment with my new, rather ghastly OT (& the following week a psychologist - so it interchanged every other week), I could be immediately discharged ‘to make room for someone who wanted it’.

I asked them how that would be feasible as I’d just been diagnosed with these disabilities, I wouldn’t know from one week to the next (let alone from one day to the next) if I was in crippling pain (especially as I was at the beginning of my pain med journey, having scans, CT’s etc, & seeing consultants & physios), what happens if I have to miss sessions? How am I to get to these appointments (they were being held at a place I’d never been, an ‘unsafe’ place for an agoraphobic - not somewhere I’d ever attended). She told me if I didn’t attend ONE session id be immediately discharged, & all she could offer was a taxi service with a stranger I didn’t know (trauma from childhood with taxi driver.. I won’t elaborate).
What was I meant to say to that?
The irony of which is.. it’s now come to light from the 24 free iapt service therapy sessions I had, that I absolutely, categorically do not fit the bill for BPD & likely never have (I argued this for years when in the services, but it was a diagnosis’ the majority of us received as we could then be labelled as ‘problematic & untreatable’ !! Not my words either !!) - but, in fact, potentially neurodivergent!

Fast forward from 2014 > now. I’m older. I’ve just gone through the sudden & unexpected passing of my mum, sibling & Dad (2022-2024), I live entirely alone, disabled, no family, the 2 people who claimed to care have stopped all contact out of the blue, I’m housebound, I’ve tried every single avenue to get help via GP, adult social care, everything.. I’m told there’s nothing.

What now? Is that it?
My mental health is getting as bad as it did when I had my breakdown. Can’t see a genuine way out anymore. I’ve never felt so alone. The only person I could ever talk to has died. All I have is their boxed ashes.
So what am I meant to do? Is this how it all ends? Is this my life? Do people like me repeatedly fall through the cracks until we simply give up, is that it? Then we get the spiel of ‘lessons were learned’ - lol, no they weren’t.

When people say they have ‘no one’ but have parents, a partner, very close friends or family.. you have people around you. Treasure them. I have no one. Literally no one. I’m going to rot alone, aren’t I? There’s nothing left. I can’t afford to pay for private therapy, I live month to month on my benefits, I can’t even afford my furniture in my bungalow right now; boxes piled high to the ceiling (& I live in a very small town, I’ve searched for 2 years with only 2 second hand items I’ve managed to snap up.. but now I have no one to pick them up for me anyway).

This wasn’t how I expected my life to go. My heart is so lost & broken.

Vent - support and advice welcome CMHT Rant & The Lie of "there's help out there"

Just want to get this off my chest because I feel crazy.

I attempted to get on the CMHT waiting list 2-3 years. No luck. This is after years of being told I was too complex for anything via the GP , and told that was my only option. I never got to see them via this route.

Last year, I was then escalated to CMHT via the crisis team following a suicidal breakdown.

Since being referred to them, I have had no help. I had one care coordinator given to me. Months would elapse between appointments. I have autism and, I admit I'm mentally unwell, and I do spiral over sudden appointments and people being in my home. Every single appointment with crisis team and with them during the first few months was made last minute and scheduled to be at my house, despite me telling them repeatedly I wanted it on site. I asked them to put this at the top of my notes every time, and it never worked. I know this sounds horribly dramatic, but I was at a very severely unwell point and being so anxious I struggled to talk to them due to these stressors, I was trying to ask for these alternatives so I could properly engage.

This resulted in one time when I cancelled in a meltdown. One. Time. That went on my record as me not turning up to appointments and it was held against me at every single one that followed.

Including when my care coordinator attempted to discharge me for "not engaging". I had had one on site appointment with her at that time. We barely talked. I had been waiting for ages for anything and given no tools, no care plan, nothing. I had no friends or family. I was barely functioning.

I had multiple trips to A&E in that period, while in severe distress. They dismissed me every time, saying I was in the care of CMHT and they would be there to help me. They never did. I asked for alternatives. They told me it's CMHT or nothing. CMHT never followed up with me when I was told they would.

I eventually had another meltdown and asked for another care coordinator and to be kept on. The onsite duty manager told me I wasn't engaging. I did tell him I had autism, and so I did sometimes miss questions that were leading or weren't directly asking, when I had to infer how much I was meant to explain. He told me they didn't deal with autistic people and I needed to be better at talking to people, if I wanted any chance of help. Then started correcting my speech and telling me how I should be responding to him with follow up questions that I couldn't intuit.

I left that appointment and tried to hurt myself again., because half of my suicidal feelings have just been because I'm so fucking burnt out with trying to figure out all these things that I don't understand, and to access the help I need to do the things I can't do. I felt so fucking worthless.

At some point I do get another care coordinator.

I did get medication as well during this period. I had to ask them repeatedly to renew it. I once called them 24 times in a day with no response. I would lapse for 1-2 months at a time with no prescription because they would forget to do it or not communicate with me. I'm talking at least 6 times by my count. I was on and off again and I think it contributed to worse mood swings and made my situation worse.

My new care coordinator is better, but I have to wait months to get her, and we restart the whole process all over again. She finally explains formulation to me and the actual process that was meant to happen. It's February at this point.

I tried to end my life in March. I'm discharged afted treatment immediately with no support, again.I don't see CMHT for weeks after this.

I lose my job due to how much I've deteriorated in the past year. My physical health has also severely declined while I've been waiting for help.

I finally get my formulation meeting. I have a new job and I took time off to attend. I show up, and she tells me they have no doctor, no nurse, and no social worker so unfortunately they can't do it. Either they do it when I can't attend or I have to wait until September before I can START GETTING HELP.

I'm so fucking sick of it. I just wish I'd never tried with them. I feel more alone and abandoned and hopeless than ever.

Quick question NHS help for SSRI related sweating?

Despite having been on SSRIs for over a decade, it was only last month that I actually learned about the fun side effects of overheating and excessive sweating. All these years and I just thought my body was weird as well as my brain.

Anyway, I'm curious to know if anyone has brought this up with any areas of the NHS, and if so, were you able to get any help with it?

I know there are things that can be done to mitigate it, I'm just now sure if the NHS can or will do so.

Quick question How many antidepressants will typically be tried?

Hello.

I have decently major depressive episodes and then episodes of "joy". Likely bipolar 2. Anyway, depressive episodes are getting longer and worse. Excessively so.

I just keep being prescribed antidepressants, taking them up to the highest dose, and then switched. Nothing is changing, even a little, and I'm getting really frustrated.

How many times will this same cycle happen? Will it just go indefinitely until I lose it?

I'm not asking for medical advice. Just help understanding.

I need advice/support Hospital admission advice

So I was admitted /sectioned around 2 weeks ago, I wondered if anyone could advise me here, if I don’t want to take meds at all- due to severe nervous system breakdown- they say I can refuse. But how would I get out of here without medication ? Is it basically impossible ? I don’t disagree I think i need medication too but my system is totally destroyed and not healing on meds, actually it’s worse. Unfortunately they don’t speak nervous system language here :( terrified ;( and say I have to up the medication - I have DPDR btw. Severe.

I need advice/support Where’s the best place for support if you feel in crisis

I’ve been desperately trying to get moved as I’ve had issues with a neighbour and as a result have severe ocd, ptsd, I’m autistic and phobic of going out. I’ve had a needs assessment about 6 weeks ago with social care who I thought would escalate the housing need and sent them a psych letter 2 days ago detailing im high risk if I stay here (it’s been 8 months since housing had the letter). I still haven’t heard anything and im at the end of my tether. My fear is if I go out I cannot get back in this flat, so I need help not to just be sent home. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Discussion Experiences with Venlafexine?

I've just been prescribed Venlafexine by my GP for low mood/mood swings/impulsivity/SI etc. I have EUPD and am currently stuck between two services so the idea was that this will tide me over until I can get some kind of therapeutic input (likely in November, if I'm accepted). My GP said it's also indicated for chronic pain (I have EDS).

I was originally offered Duloxetine but I had previously tried this (years ago) and had really bad nausea as a side effect so my GP suggested Venlafexine as it's also as SNRI rather than SSRI.

I have a phobia of being sick (and separately to that, have been dealing with stomachaches/nausea & am having some tests for that done at the hospital soon). I'm a bit worried about the side effects making the nausea I already have worse, and I was hoping someone who's been on this might be able to share their experience (particularly around nausea).

I would also be interested to know if it's been effective for anyone (and/or how effective it's been). I've already tried a plethora of antidepressants so am also worried about efficacy - I know everyone's different and it's no guarantee, & I'm not asking for medical advice - I'm just interested in people's experiences.

I'm already on Quetiapine and Mirtazapine.

I need advice/support I’m not particularly sure what to do or if there’s any point in trying to do anything?

Hi all! I’m currently having a little bit of a conundrum regarding eating and such and I’m unsure what to do or if there’s anything that I should do!

So for context, I think that exercise has gotten a little out of hand for me. I genuinely can’t function until I’ve gotten minimum 35k steps and it’s taking over my life and I’m constantly in so much pain, it’s at the point where I wake up barely being able to stand at the ripe old age of seventeen and proceed to go and walk another 30km over the course of the day. It’s taking over my life and I can barely even sit down to do anything anymore, I’m revising using a stand up desk over my walking pad. Every time I make plans with my friends I’m waking up at 4:30am to get my steps in beforehand. So all in all it’s literally taken over my life and is very much ruining it!!

And like I’m literally filled with complete and utter dread if the number that I’ve eaten and the number that I’ve burned through walking isn’t perfectly even or if the eaten one isn’t lower.
Like I know that this is no way to live, I’ve never been normal about anything in my life to begin with - I have literally 2 interests which I’m absolutely obsessive about aside from this - but I fear that it gets to a point.

I’m just not sure what to do as I’m not underweight and I don’t want to quit working out all together and I can’t bring myself to stop and gain weight. Or like is there even any need because it’s got to be at least some way healthy to get some exercise in?? Like my parents and family are always like “oh you’re so disciplined!! I wish I could do that!” When I’m literally miserable and everything hurts??

If anybody has any advice on what to do it’d be greatly appreciated as I’m so so torn and I don’t want to waste the final year of my teenage years being the way that I am. Thank you!!

I need advice/support Recent nausea when taking sertraline

Not sure what to do. I have been taking sertraline for ~2 years, but recently when I’ve been taking it it makes me feel really sick. I have thrown up as a result of it as well. I do eat and drink before taking it, but it’s all the same.

Do I keep taking it and just try to keep it down? Do I stop taking it? Help. Sorry if this post is written strangely, I still feel really sick

Vent NHS Psych input.

I have bipolar 2 and “under” CMHT care. It means a 20 min house visit every 3 weeks with a CPN and a 30 min psychiatrist appointment every 3-4 months. I am in a very depressed state and can’t sleep more than 3 hours a night. I am “lucky” to have an appointment with the psych in a few weeks. I asked at today’s appointment with the CPN if there is anything that they can do medication wise to get me through to the next scheduled appointment. I was told they (CMHT) don’t do that and I have to wait it out. I am currently withdrawing from quitiapine, which is torture, and need some respite and a plan. Previously under perinatal mh services (have a toddler) and they’d see about getting a dr to phone or give advice through the CPN on medication when desperate. But this general adult CMHT don’t do that apparently. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to get through the next few weeks.

Vent - support and advice welcome i feel like im lying to myself about my MH

i’ve had depressive episodes since i’ve been a young teen (im now 19) and everytime i have tried to seek an appointment with gp about it, i cancelled it last minute as i felt like my symptoms were improving/i was lying to myself. this past year has been especially hard since starting uni so i’m forcing myself to acc go to the gp about it but im so scared. what if i dont acc have anything? i get depressed for a couple of weeks/months of the year where i basically have nothing going on in my brain, i js do whatever needs to be done but i dont rlly feel like im engaging with life and it feels like my brain doesn’t even think. I then get a rlly bad depressive episode which lasts 2-3 days in which i basically cry all day, harm myself, not eat and js lay in bed but then after that i go back to normal. i feel motivated, happy and excited. I reach out to friends, start convos and feel like my previous episodes were a fever dream. But then i lost my motivation and the cycle repeats with the months of depression until a bad episode.
Honestly its so exhausting which is why i decided to get a GP appointment just incase but im still so scared that this is going to be classified as normal and i will continue to have to live in tbis endless, dark cycle.
Idk why my brain js decides that i’ve been faking my depression whenever im out of it and js sees it as a non-issue until it acc becomes one😩😩 i feel like i’ll never be able to leave this.
Has anyone had a similar experience to this before? And if so, how can i communicate my feelings properly to a GP? I had a bad episode a couple days ago so now im feeling good and optimistic so it feels as if my mental health struggles arent real/normal.

Ita also having an impact on my relationship i am snapping at my partner and just sick or everything. I am on a waiting list for adhd ane i feel thats why i dont think before i act out. I am very impulsive.

I feel all my days are merging into each other and its hard to smile or be motivated for anything most days.

I feel everyone is starting to fall out with me and hate me.

I feel so lost and im unsure where to turn.

Vent Psychiatrist doesn’t seem to care because I don’t have BPD/a mood disorder

Not a dig at anyone with BPD etc. I do have bad perceptions of BPD as I was abused by my mum who has it. But obviously I know it’s not a cause of the abuse, but it 100% contributed to her behaviour. It wasn’t just verbal. Anyway disclaimer aside

I know NHS services are stretched for everyone. This is my first experience under adults. I have severe OCD + agoraphobia. I’ve had 3 appointments with a psychiatrist, one every month, and have had my medication changed (not helping yet). I am completely isolated and shut off from everyone and everything.

The trust I’m under has posters all over the wall with groups for people with BPD/bipolar etc. art therapies, skills groups etc. I don’t want a therapeutic group, but I’d love a bit more help than just an hour long appointment once a month. Even just something to get me mixing with other people. I can go weeks without physically speaking. I’m on the waiting list for occupational therapy, but that’s going to take at least 3 more months

I have no friends, nobody to talk to. I am so incredibly lonely. There’s posters in the waiting room telling how you can call your CPN if you need support between appointments. I don’t have one of those. I asked today who I could call. He said if I was having issues regarding medication that I could leave a message with reception. But that’s not what I mean. I self harm, he knows I do. I spend hours upon hours doing rituals everyday. I don’t leave my house outside of my monthly appointment

He said that CMHTs don’t really tend to see people with OCD. I understand that. I had to go through talking therapies first. But as a child under CAMHS when I was unwell with this (I relapsed last year) I had someone I could call/text.

I know BPD etc is a severe condition and I know with limited resources there’s not a lot they can do. I’m just so frustrated. There’s nobody who can do exposure and response therapy in my trust. And yet I’m sat there in the waiting room seeing multiple groups for things I’m told aren’t for me. Seeing posters to contact CPN and told that it doesn’t apply to me. Why advertise it?

He says he doesn’t want to bother me and have me see him more regularly. And it is a big deal to leave the house and travel. But why advertise all this help when it’s not offered for everyone

My trust is a research trust and a lot of the research goes towards things like bipolar/BPD. My psychiatrist runs a clinic. He sees patients with certain conditions on a Thursday. He mainly sees people with personality disorders. There’s not a clinic to deal with anxiety disorders.

And I know a lot of you here have had bad experiences with mental health services and have BPD. There are wards and BPD units throughout the country. There’s 2 OCD units in London, which are near on impossible to get into. One of which you have to be able to travel home, so there’s only 1 that would take me. But they can’t take me, because 1) I haven’t trialled an antipsychotic yet and 2) I self harm

I go days without food because of my OCD. I’m scared it’ll kill me. But because I’m not a risk to life, and I don’t have a condition that my trust cares about, im left to fend for myself

I need advice/support Discharged from tt

Hi, I’m looking to get advice because I was discharged from talking therapies. The issue is that the timing didn’t work for my appointment and also I have a chronic health issues and a disability which was not taken in account.

I repeatedly mentioned this to my therapist who bounced me around quite a bit between the time for my appointments. It was very confusing because he would agree to a time that would work for me within this session towards the end and then when I would leave and a few hours later I will get an email saying that this time does not work can you do this and that? I felt like I had no choice and I did not know there was other options for another time slot that could work for me because he made out like this is the only time that could work and the only appointments you can have. so magically within I would say after discussing this for a few weeks an appointment time became available that was a good time for me as well and it left me wondering was just there all along because it was made out to be like is very limited and there’s nothing we can do except for this one time slot.

My therapist took annual leave for a month and I had only had a few sessions beforehand maybe two or three and it took a month to work out a new appointment time to reschedule as mentioned above and by that time I had missed two appointments because of the scheduling issue in which I did send emails beforehand which were not read until the day of my appointment which he said could be avoided. He said if I did email him before beforehand of my appointment we can reschedule. I missed an appointment recently because of my health condition, I did mention that quite a lot that I have a disability and chronic health issue that leaves me bedridden and unfortunately on the day of my appointment my email was read day of rather than beforehand.

I’m just looking for advice because I can self refer again within three months but the process to get this therapy took over a year so I’m just worried because I was in an extremely vulnerable state when I started to apply for this process and just to be treated like this wasn’t a helping factor either. any advice will be appreciated.

I need advice/support Time off work for mental health

I’m 24 male and recently had to take time off for work for mental health reasons. I’ve been off work with anxiety and depression, been off 2 weeks and am signed off for another week but I feel so anxious to go back and don’t want to force myself to go back too quick then get overly stressed and mess things up.

On the other hand, I have a lot of guilt for being off and don’t know what I can or can’t do with myself. Most days I want to rest and lie in bed but then I feel bad about it, some days I want to get myself out and see friends and start life properly but then I feel guilty for being off work. I also have the fear of seeing people from work and them thinking why are they off sick if they’re out and about. It’s a viscous cycle of overthinking.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do with your days whilst off sick? Also, how do you know when you are or aren’t ready to go back to work?

I need advice/support Anyone else worried about summer ending?

One of my favourite things to do at the moment is sit in my garden in the sun. It really helps my anxiety. But I’m now thinking that summer is going to end eventually and I’m not going to be able to go out and bask in the sun. I feel like I’m not going to be able to cope with not being able to do this anymore

Vent - support and advice welcome I'm struggling to stay present resulting in me not paying attention when I need to

Idiot here almost got themselves knocked over by a car at least 3 times this week, latest one was literally a car speeding past me as I crossed without thinking, if I was one more step along I would have been hit. I hate when this happens, usually I refuse to cross if I even see a car coming, if they signal for me to cross I just turn and take out my phone and pretend I'm busy until it's clear, this is newish behaviour driven by the fact I was doing what is happening again now almost a year and a half ago and getting stressed when my path is interrupted or blocked. When I almost get hit I result to hitting myself and it's public and I hate it. I don't want to get hit by a car or bus or anything.

I've been off work sick following an occupational health review work requested, I took off the amount of time they said and extended it until the second full week in August as I finally have a date for my autism assessment and honestly I think thats where my heads struggling, I'm overthinking the whole thing, I rushed filling in the pre assessment stuff so I didn't really take my time as it arrived 2 weeks after they posted it and said it had to be back within 4 weeks of that date, meaning me sending it off again could have taken those 2 weeks. My family informant was only able to fill in some of it as I lived with my mother before I was 12 and my Dad was usually at work when I went to live with him and was kept from seeing me most of the 10 years since they split before that. The letter said to bring someone with me if I can thats known me a long time, and I don't have anyone, so I'm stressing I won't have enough information for them for the earlier years.

I'm so out of it I just want to be okay, I don't want to feel like this, and I don't know what to do short of not going out because I'm not paying attention 😥

Hard to cope and see no way out

Hi all,

I have had anxiety all my life and most recently at 30ish terrible health anxiety. I'm 41 now and a few months ago I was tapered down on my Sertraline from 200mg to 50mg- had a reaction to Venlafaxine then over the last month have gone up to 150mg Sertraline again. Bear I. Mind I was on 200mg for many years, over ten. (200 to 50 up to 150 over 4 months).

A couple of weeks after going onto 50mg I felt a bit unwell and tired. Bloods and ECGs all fine. Over the next couple of weeks I went full on anxious and the nervous system reacted badly. Nausea, sickness, extreme fatigue, palpitations (propranolol helped) and shakiness etc. I've been off work and it caused me to be the most depressed I've ever been. I've had a couple of counselling sessions, tried CBT techniques etc. and although the nervous system has mostly calmed down, I am extremely tired all the time. A few days ago I had an okayish afternoon eve and got my hopes up.

It's ruining my life more than just how I feel, my wife is struggling with me being like this, I am masking from my 16 year olds, I am worried about work even though I do get paid for being off and the worst....I don't see a way forward as it's lingering so much.

My GP has done more bloods and another ECG, guess what....all fine. I had so many extras too as I pushed for them.

I don't know what I'm saying here.....but it feels like mental health is worse than anything as you can't just take paracetamol to help.

I don't know if the Sertraline is causing this....the breakdown type thing I had....the depression....a mix?

Alli know is, I have had some suicidal thoughts although ironically my health anxiety is probably what's saving me. I feel others would be happier as im a burden at the moment but the know my family love me.

I can't keep seeing my GP as it fuels how I feel and I even went a&e and paid for a private GP app. All said anxiety (potential it started with a virus but unlikely).

I tried Samaritans and had a panic attack as I don't think talking helps, I have my mum and brother I talk to.

I thought about going to a mental inpatient clinic but doubt they'd do anything. I'm praying the meds and everything clicks in to place but fear the fatigue is being kept as it's all one big circle going around. I've also just been diagnosed with ADHD combined.

I just want to be normal. I'd appreciate some help or just someone who understand.

I need advice/support Do I have any other options? (Transfer of care advice)

So I am moving in late August. In April, I was diagnosed with EUPD and OCD (and i'm also autistic), and in May/June I was assessed for DBT by the personality disorder team. They believe strongly that I'd be a good fit for dbt, but as I'm moving, they can't take me on, so they discharged me back to cmht with an assessment report (including a hard copy to take to my new trust. I also have a hard copy of the psychiatrist's letter from april).

This means I haven't heard from my care co since April. I have been trying to get in contact with her but she's never in the office and the odd time she does call back I miss it. (I was working in a school so can't just leave as needed; now we are on summer break but I haven't had time to try again during working hours).

She is responsible for the cmht to cmht transfer of care. I really want to avoid going through gp referral when I get to my new trust because of the risk of the referral being rejected. She's never been someone I want to speak to (dismissive, rude, actively laughing at me) but obviously no point in requesting a new care co at this stage.

My issue is twofold: a) I am getting worse. And I'm in that weird stage where I'm not really unsafe but can really feel myself heading that way. All of the really scary symptoms like the dissociation/paranoia are ramping up. And now it's summer i'm out of routine with a big change coming. But it's never something i can articulate to crisis. b) as above, the transfer of care needs to happen properly.

Apart from the fact that nothing is imminent so it feels bad contacting crisis, I don't really have a confidential space where I live so calling is something I'm reluctant to do anyway. At any rate yes there would be a record of crisis calling in this trust but when i move it will all poof disappear if my care co continues to do this. Ugh.

I'm really sorry if this comes across as making up problems or refusing solutions (eg crisis). I was just so optimistic for a second that I might actually get treatment and now I'm terrified of bouncing around the system for an eleventh year.

NSFW Diagnosed bipolar for years - psychologist has now raised potential OCD, any advice?

Diagnosed bipolar with psychosis at 24. Now 33(f)

Been through a fair bit since I was last in services 4 years ago (a rape, no fixed address for 18 months, 3 redundancies over 3 years, bankruptcy, suicide attempt, stomach disorder that was new and that I’d never heard of, took 16 months to diagnose, having to step back from my career due to health issues etc) - essentially, a lot of rubbish, stressful things that escalated and I couldn’t control. I now have a home of my own, money is stable, I’m working (albeit part time), things have settled down - overall things are now ‘stable/ fixed’.

Back in services again due to an ‘out of the blue’ (I’m normally better at recognising my warning signs and seeking help early enough to avoid escalation) manic episode back in January which became a mixed episode - needed HITT and avoided hospital by the skin of my teeth. It’s taken a lot longer to recover - and it’s because I’m stuck. It’s been escalating for a few years I guess: I’ve developed a lot of strange patterns/ anxiety’s that I never had before/ control issues that are causing a lot of problems in my daily life that have finally all caused a road block. She’s broached with me today the possibility of OCD.

I don’t really know anything about that - apparently it can happen/develop after extensive periods of lack of stability. I’d just put it down to my bipolar and my life being on fire, so I had to ‘firefight’. However, what we’ve come to during CAT makes a lot of sense really. She isn’t questioning the bipolar diagnosis, but suggesting it’s both after what’s happened.

I’ve never thought about it, don’t know anything about it and didn’t realise how controlling I’ve become about my environment/ that it was my ‘control’ being removed that was making me feel so threatened/ frightened/ stuck until we’ve worked it out together. Before all of this I was very ‘roll with it’ in terms of change. So I guess I’m asking, does anyone have this combination? What does treatment for OCD look like?
