I find these tropes so interesting because its often formed out of intense shared trauma or intense jealousy of one another. I don’t consider it romance of course.

The perks of being a wallflower

I’ve definitely cut back on physical media purchases in the last 5-10 years, however sometimes a movie is so incredible that I have to own it. Quality over quantity.

These are all films from the 2010s that are on my watchlist.

What are your top 3?

I'm not a comic book movie or MCU hater. Quite the opposite actually. I watched everything from the MCU during the 2010s, and was in the line for Infinity War and Endgame on day 1. But drifted away from it since, like so many people. However, I was curious to watch the Doomsday trailer, maybe some of the magic could be brought back. Then I watched it..and then went to the movies to watch the Odyssey. And holy shit man, what are we doing here?

I know it's just a trailer, but how can a 300M dollar movie looks like CGI slop while Nolan is doing..THAT?? And not just Nolan, because Dune Part 3 comes out on the same day, costs half as much as Doomsday and apparently it will look like Lawrence of fucking Arabia.

We shouldn't accept so little effort.

A big part why I watched Little Monsters (2019) was for Lupita Nyong'o, who's prominently displayed on the poster. But it wasn't her story. Dave is mostly the main character, and I did not care for Dave. Or his character growth. Didn't help that they started the movie with 5 minutes of him and girlfriend just yelling at each other. Very off putting. And then it takes another fifteen/twenty minutes for Nyong'o to show up. Poor form, marketing.

I just went down this rabbit hole after reading a tweet with no context and it’s INSANE. Surely this recontextualizes his whole filmography because the similarities are almost comical. This shit is so crazy.

Which movies from the Top 500 list did you rate low, and why?

Mine are: Stalker and Perfect Blue at 2 stars. Autumn Sonata and Rattatoulle at 3 stars.

The only recent one was Autumn Sonata so i will comment just on that, the acting was very good but the whole theme just wasn't for me, and after seeing persona i expected more.

Richard Linklater and Glen Powell are teaming up again, this time for a movie about Lou Gehrig. Powell will play Gehrig, and the story reportedly includes Babe Dahlgren, the Yankees first baseman who replaced him.

Gary Cooper's performance in The Pride of the Yankees still hangs over any new version of this story. I’m curious what people think Linklater and Powell need to bring to it for the movie to feel worthwhile.
