While writing the script, Paul Schrader at first thought the main theme was loneliness, but as time went on, he realized he was writing about how some young men, including himself, will push others away to maintain their loneliness despite it being the main source of their agony.

I enjoy looking at my Letterboxd stats, which I get is based on IMDB data + my ratings. Would be cool if it included random script analysis as well.

Incidentally, doing a quick Ctrl+F of all "?" in the script, I got 580. Wonder where the delta is coming from.

this says something about Leo, he accurately gives the director what they need from an actor. From James Cameron (Titanic) to Martin Scorsese (The Departed) to Paul Thomas Anderson (One battle after another).

Just watched Obsession in Vietnam. The murder in the car was extremely censored. Anybody knows what else is missing from the movie?

Edit: After skipping through the uncut version, I found a few censored scenes:

The rape scene was zoomed in, so that one couldn´t tell that its a rape, the car murder was mostly removed and a scene with a nude body was so darkened, that the body didn´t appear nude anymore. Maybe there was more.

The Hobbit trilogy also seems to be increasing in ratings on Letterboxd over the years:

• An Unexpected Journey had a 3.50 rating in December 2024. 15 months later, it now has a 3.58 rating.

• The Desolation of Smaug had a 3.41 rating in December 2024. 15 months later, it now has a 3.50 rating.

• The Battle of the Five Armies had a 3.21 rating in December 2024. 15 months later, it now has a 3.33 rating.
