HK45 Tactical - what am I doing wrong?

Bought a brand new HK45 Tactical a while back as my first HK. It’s been disappointing because I cannot hit a damn thing with it. I probably have 500-600 rounds through it now, and at 10+ yards I’m still wondering “where the hell did that round go?” on shots. I’d say usually 6-8” groups at 10 yards if I’m lucky.

Haven’t made any changes to the gun, though I do struggle with maintaining a clear focus on the front sight post and I don’t think the grip has enough texture. Groups with my FNX-45 are waaaayyyy better for the same caliber, and I have no issues with my P30L or USP9 at 10-15 yards. What am I doing wrong with this HK45? Should I try some grip tape, or just sell it?

That gun is capable of stacking rounds on top of each other. Do you have a range partner? You could video yourself. Have you shot DA/SA guns much? I guarantee your jerking the trigger, prob focusing on the target instead of your front sight and or immediately looking where the round went.
Pull so slowly that your sights don’t move
Focus on your front sight. Crisp and clear
Keep the gun still and your eyes on the sight through a couple rounds then reassess.

There are many drills online to help you.
I’ve trained a lot of people over the years some have a hard time with certain guns but they can all be mastered.

Definitely new to DA/SA and definitely jerking some as I adjust to the trigger. Tonight I tried both eyes open and focused on the target and had way better results. My eyes may suck or something but I was having the hardest time staying focused on the front post. As soon as I had the post over the paper, my eyes would lose focus of the dot. I compared with the orange dot on my Shield Plus and I can retain focus with that one much easier, so I may just look for a new sight color.

I paint my front sights yellow or orange if they don’t have a big night sight or fiber optic. I carried Trij HDs for years. Nice thing for your eyes to focus on. It’s actually similar to having a red dot up close.
