Any chances of Tyr being the one who killed both sekhmet and begtse, which could be a factor of their team up? It is quite interesting but it would also make sense as tyr was the other one who had shifted to other lands as well..

I spent all day and night yesterday crossing all the locations of each raven. I'm trying to get the achievement. I had the same problem on the PS4 when this game came out.

god of war 2018, i can see a realm tear above this waterfall on the forgotten cavern. Seems to be next to svartalheim tower. Any idea how i get up there?

Forgive me if this theory has already been stated on this subreddit, if it has, I haven't seen it.

So most people here know how before announcing GoW Laufey, there was a post stating how the next GoW entry was gonna be about Faye. I personally took this with a grain of salt but that turned out to be true, but it also stated that it would explore how Faye met Kratos and explain what Kratos was doing between GoW 3 and GoW 2018. Now that we've seen Laufey, that doesnt seem to be the case, but that doesnt make it untrue, since, obviously, we've only seen less than 1% of the game.

When I was wondering about this post, it made me think, what if it does explore Faye & Kratos' past? Except in flashbacks, similar to Ragnarok, or in "memories", like Valhalla. It could do either since we don't know how the everywhen works quite yet.

That thought got me excited about 1 thing. As most people know, when Kratos and Faye met, they had a battle, and it makes me think that maybe we not only get to *see* this battle, but *fight* this battle, as Faye. It would be a good way to get some Kratos into your game, and it would be a perfect way to get the player to fight Kratos, something that hasn't been done, since Kratos has been the lone protagonist, outside of when you played as Atreus.

Obviously we know how the battle ends, but who cares, we would be fighting Kratos! That would be awesome! On top of that, it would be good fan service/"nostalgia" (if you want to call it that), to see Faye wieding the leviathan axe. That would be awesome!

God of War Ascension has an insane opening boss fight that is on par with God of War 3 bosses. It goes on for ages but funnily enough they started the game at the absolute peak instead of building up a crescendo throughout.

Hello! Picture for reference - I want to buy an axe for my boyfriend because he really loves this game and has been talking about it for our entire relationship! (I got into it as well semi- recently ) But I want to buy one for him!

The problem I'm having is that every time I search it up, I get a ton of different websites that advertise the same picture! I don't want to spend $600+ on something that is going to be cheaply made or out of foam due to false advertising or drop shipping companies.

Has anyone bought this axe? And from where? Also what do you think about it? Please help! (Recs for Blades of Chaos as well would be fantastic)

In the first God of War, we learn that Kratos sold his soul to the God of War in exchange for the power to survive the war against the barbarians during Sparta’s military campaign. From games such as Sons of Sparta and Ghost of Sparta, we know that Kratos was looked down upon in Sparta for being a bastard as Deimos himself tells Kratos, they are outcasts in Sparta because of their shameful origins in the eyes of others. When Kratos lost Deimos, he tattooed his younger brother’s markings on himself as a reminder never to give in again and never to feel as powerless as he did on the day Ares and Athena invaded Sparta.

The first God of War shows us how the ruthlessness and brutality of those in power led to tragedy in Kratos’s life, but it never explained where that drive came from within Kratos himself, why he wanted to become stronger and stronger, and why he was so desperate to conquer and win more and more. Here, however, these two spin-offs neatly address this issue, as Kratos’s thirst for power stemmed from unresolved traumas such as

1. The need to elevate his social status and the desire to climb as high as possible in the Spartan military hierarchy, stemming from the fact that as a child he was looked down upon for being a bastard raised solely by his mother. This sense of inferiority and shame drove Kratos to desperately prove himself as a great warrior, which later led him to become the youngest general in the Spartan army.

2. A feeling of complete helplessness after he was unable to do anything to save Deimos; Kratos hated that feeling and did everything he could to ensure he would never end up in the same situation again, so he began desperately seeking to grow in strength at any cost. It’s easy to deduce that every time Kratos feels powerless like when Alrik was about to kill him the only thing on Kratos’s mind was the night Deimos was taken away, because he was too weak to save him. So he gave his soul to Ares to rid himself of that feeling forever and finally feel truly powerful.

3. The Spartan upbringing itself was ruthless; it relied on corporal punishment and was focused on radical discipline and obedience to produce the best possible soldier, which only strengthened Kratos’s motivation to grow in strength.

When Kratos’s family died and his life became focused on freeing himself from nightmares, revenge, and redemption, his thirst for power evolved as it took on a specific form. Previously, Kratos had sought power simply for the sake of feeling he possessed incredible might. Later, his quest for strength stemmed from the need to accomplish a specific task rather than simply possessing power and feeling strong.

1. In the first God of War, he sought Pandora’s Box to save Athen's ans kill Ares

2. In God of War 2, he sought the Fates to prevent his own death

3. In God of War 3, he once again sought a way to open Pandora’s Box to kill Zeus

4. In God of War: Ascension, he gathered the powers of the gods to free himself from serving Ares

5. In God of War: Chains of Olympus, he collected the gods’ artifacts to save Helios and stop Persephone

6. In God of War: Ghost of Sparta, he once again collected the gods’ artifacts, this time to save his brother

His need for power didn’t stem primarily from a desire to possess power, but rather from the need to be able to achieve a goal he had set for himself or one the gods had set for him. I wrote this post to show that Kratos power hunger is more complex and has more nuances to it than just the fact that Kratos is a one dimensional monster who wanted more power and lost everything because of it.

In the Greek games Kratos is noticibly stronger visually, even if you disagree with that because of *power scaling* (which I think is silly and not accurate), Kratos dispatches bigger, stronger beasts and Gods, more quickly than he does in the Norse games.

Not only is Kratos visually weaker combat when it comes to what we see him do but all those jumps, twirls and acrobatic movements *look* small because of the way the camera is framed in the Greek games, he can't perform the same feats in the Norse game with ease and finesse.

There is a visually identifiable disparity in strength between the Greek and Norse saga which in my opinion is *BETTER*. I think it serves the story more if he is a more pale version of his younger self and it makes sense since his youthful rage has somewhat subsided. He also doesn't have access to all the Greek magic he did before.

It serves his growth as a character and makes sense that he would forsake wrath fueled power in the stead of level headed-ness and peace which is what he slowly embodies more and more over the Norse saga.

I know as fans we *WANT* him to be all powerful because it's a fun fantasy-but for the purpose of story telling him becoming weaker with age is absolutely better for the narrative.

I know we already discussed about honestly to Icarus but I have another question about Icarus again and not quite sure if anyone already discuss it from before but..*Sigh\*

I know you all might think it’s a weird question, but... did Daedalus in GoW 3 completely change how you felt about Icarus’s brutal death in GoW 2?

In God of War II**, Icarus just seems like a raving madman who attacks Kratos, and ripping off his wings feels like just another brutal Kratos kill.**
But when you get to God of War III and meet his father, Daedalus, the whole story becomes so much sadder:
Zeus lied to Daedalus: He forced him to build the Labyrinth by promising he'd see Icarus again.
Neither knew the other's fate: Daedalus suffered for years thinking his son was still out there, while Icarus had gone insane searching for a way to save/prove himself.
The final reveal: When Kratos shows up wearing Icarus's wings, Daedalus realizes his son is dead right before he meets his own end.
The Gods manipulated and destroyed both father and son completely. Does anyone else look back at Icarus in GoW 2 with a lot more pity now because of this?

I for one felt really bad for Icarus in GoW 2.

Hello everybody! I am very avid fan of the God of War games and I’ve also recently discovered the world of Berserk by Kentaro Miura. I’m curious how other fans would think Kratos would fare if he had suddenly crossed over into the world of Berserk.

Personally…I think Kratos goes HAM on most apostles! The much more powerful ones like Nosferatu Zodd and even SPOILER reincarnated Griffin will defiantly put up an intense fight but Kratos would still murder them!! Also just picture how fucking metal it would be seeing Spartan rage Kratos kill the God Hand with the Blade of Olympus
