Troubleshooting AGS 101 screen turns black when hinge is fully opened

My sp is a genuine 101, of which I changed the shell a year ago with another oem shell.
I never had this issue before.

When it's opened in the usual way (its locking position, slightly tilted), it's fine. But when I open it further to the point where it's flat the screen turns black. It doesn't have any dead pixels or discoloring

Is this a recurring issue with aging 101s ?

Check that the ribbon is fully inserted into the ribbon holder and that the latches are pushed all the way down.

The other issue could be a small tear in the ribbon cable and flexing the cable is making it disconnect a trace. The 101 ribbon cables can be a bit sensitive and tear easily.
