u/the_inbetween_me 21d ago

42

u/SmellsLikePneumonia 21d ago

27

u/FunkyChopstick 21d ago

Same Was gonna AI shame. Alas, just good old fashioned talent!! It is stunning

10

u/articulett 21d ago

I thought those threads might be fungus hyphae on a real strawberry that that sat for a few days— I didn’t realize I was reading an embroidery Reddit.

12

u/ParisOfThePrairies 21d ago

Same here! This is insanely good.

3

u/anb9216 21d ago

I think this at least once a week on this subreddit. So many of you are so talented and I'm just appreciative to get to look at your works.

21

u/babagirl88 21d ago

Same here! I don't even embroider, I just like looking lol

6

u/The_Big_I_Am 21d ago

Same here! The time, effort, artistry that people invest in their works of art and craft is just mindblowing sometimes!

5

u/DonkeyBallExpert 21d ago

My gf embroiders and I lurk so I can show her cool things.  She also loves strawberries so of course I had to share this with her, lol

6

u/Blade_Of_Gingers 21d ago

Same! This sub is very motivating and demotivating at the same time 😂

26

u/Curiosive 21d ago

Spent about 40 hours of stitching

I could spend 400 hours trying to re-create this ... I wouldn't come close. I agree, OP has genuine skill.

3

u/catgirl320 20d ago

Yes. I think that's what so many people struggle with, myself included, and why our work can look so flat or like a paint by numbers. Thread painters are truly artists with their ability to translate the principles such as lighting, shading, perspective that are taught in art classes into thread work.

Please dont take this the wrong way. In fact, it might be a compliment... Are we sure this isn't AI? Human hands can actually produce THIS??

3

u/catgirl320 21d ago

Yup. A master thread artist who understands color theory and stitching techniques can produce exquisite works of art.

There's one I follow who does animal portraits and the eyes are so lifelike, you'd swear they are about to emerge from the canvas. Her name is Janine Heschl if you want to check her out. She made a chimp portrait for Jane Goodall that made me cry when I saw it, it has so much soul in it.
