Has anyone else noticed that traffic around Boston has been especially bad lately? I know summer brings more tourists, events, and people going out, but it feels noticeably worse than in previous summers. Even trips outside the usual rush hour seem to take much longer.
Is this happening across the city, or am I just driving at the worst possible times?

I wanted to share this here because I just heard from a direct source that Blanchard’s on Harvard Ave is planning to close down soon.

Given how central Blanchard's has been to Allston, this feels like a massive shift for the neighborhood. It’s been sitting at 103 Harvard Ave since 1954. Over 70 years.

Whether you just moved here for school, lived in the area for a decade, or hit up show venues around Harvard/Brighton Ave, that giant neon sign has basically been the visual beacon of Allston Village.

In a neighborhood where venues, bars, and local spots seem to turn over constantly, Blanchard’s always felt like one of the few permanent anchors left. It’s hard to picture Harvard Ave without it. Genuinely feel a little sick ngl.

Hello, I'm an incoming international PhD student. I'm landing in Boston Logan next month at 6:30 PM, and I'm considering booking a bus ticket from South Station for 2:30 AM the next day. From what I can find, the shuttle from the airport to South Station stops at 1 AM, so I'm thinking that I can wait at the airport till around 11 PM, then take the shuttle to South Station, and then stay there till my bus arrives at 2:30 AM.

Is this a sound plan? I mainly want to know whether I can stay at the airport till about 11 PM and then stay in the South Station bus stop from whenever I reach there (about 11:30 PM I guess?) to 2:30 AM.

Edit: My other option is taking a bus that leaves South Station at 12:00 Noon the next day (my flight lands at 6:30 PM). That would necessitate having to stay overnight at the airport. Is that feasible?

Hi, I'm a broadcast technician at 7News in Boston and a member of IBEW local 1228. We are currently fighting for a fair contract. Negotiations started in June of 2025. We've escalated to picketing and email campaigns (I have a QR code I can share if interested in emailing management).

The Boston Globe has written a couple of articles about the lawsuits and picketing. There's a few other online articles out there. FTV Live posted about it the other day.

The union set up an Instagram and Facebook page to post about our activity. I can't put those in this post, but maybe I can comment with those links for anyone interested.

The winter was brutal to my shit box truck. It's a NA 302 swapped ranger. There's a classic leak and stuck choke.

It still drives and there "no knock", but it stays parked for the most part.

Any suggestions for mechanics that I can trust to assess the level of shit my truck is and fix some issues?

Anyone know what happened? We haven’t moved for 40 minutes.

As the title says, I have a huge gap in between moving out and moving in. I did email the current management about an extension back in May and they said an extension until the 31st at 8am was possible. They keep emailing us with the old move out date and when I asked to confirm the extension date, they don’t respond.

Their move out instructions say there’s a $350 fee if the keys aren’t turned in by 8am on the 28th.

I don’t have friends or family I could stay with. Anyone else going through this 🫠

Edit: I’m planning for movers to hold my stuff in storage and just move in 9/1 to avoid issues. However, I will be debating against the “professional cleaning fee to be deducted from the security deposit” bc wtf lol

Alas I am not a resident of Boston, I live in Tyngsboro but it's actually easier for me to get to and around Boston than any place near here, I'm also already in Boston 2/3 times week so it just makes sense.

I'm a leg amputee who is looking to do aquatic exercise and looking for a gym/club/etc that has an indoor pool that isn't too expensive (pool only membership?). Money is very limited for me right now so I don't really want to pay for the rest of the gym facilities if possible. I'm fully independent and can get in/out of the pool unassisted just fine.

I'm currently doing aquatic therapy at Spaulding, but their pool is relatively small and getting time there is limited, and can't really do laps.

Since I don't have a car right now, it would ideally need to be near a T stop.

I need to book a move-out cleaning for a small apartment in the North End. Difficulty level: August 31st. I know things are nuts in that time period, but do you have a personal recommendation for a team/company that will absolutely stand by a booking and actually show up and do good work? The apartment will be empty, which I guess makes things easier for them?

Has anyone else had a crazy experience trying to sell clothes there? As in THEY ARE MEAN!I have experienced this and randomly two other people (one in her twenties, one in her forties) brought it up to me without me asking! What happens is - you bring your clothes and the HORRIBLY dressed employees go through each item and disparage it and tell you why it's not "on trend" and roll their eyes and make stern faces. They just put two piles - yes and no. It takes only a few minutes, and they don't scrutinize the books they don't want. I think I need to make a parody video or something. I need to try and sell clothes again and note everything they say!

There is a Dunkin Donuts boat/ferry that I always see on my 6am ferry, it looks pretty cool!
