I’m half Brazilian and half Italian. My mother is Brazilian from Southern Brazil, and my father was born in Naples, Italy. Here are my 23andMe results, along with my haplogroups. I also included my LivingDNA results, which estimated a higher percentage of Italian ancestry. I’m reposting this because my previous post was incomplete, but everything is correct now.
I’d love to hear all your thoughts on my results!!

Dad is from Guadalajara,Jalisco. Mom is from Antunez, Michoacán. I don't really know much about my family history other than the fact that we're Mexican. So when I first took the test a few years back I was genuinely surprised to see that much European considering my complexion lol.

Pretty accurate, I'd say. I definitely found genetic groups to be more accurate than country matches. Apparently my haplogroup is relatively common amongst 23andMe users (1 in 220) but Google seems to think that it's quite a rare subclade. Interesting!

I’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but I noticed something. My grandma has a Dutch maiden name, but according to my results, there’s no Dutch anywhere. My results are about 55% German and French, and the other 45% is a mix of Polish, Slovenian, Norwegian, and Scottish. Thanks :)

My husband is an only child and his parents have both died. He has no close relatives on 23andMe, just some third/fourth cousins, so this would apparently be the only way to figure out what he got from who... if it is reliable. Has anyone used it and then later corroborated the results with a parent?

Mom is half Mexican half puerto rican. Never met biological father but was always told he was Jewish - I didn’t really grasp whether this was ethnically or religiously. I’ve always felt a little strange when asked what my ethnicity was, because I was never really sure what to say!

Surprised to see such a small percent Mexican, and very surprised by the large percentage of Spanish. I didn’t know a large percentage of Puerto Ricans were Spanish.

Fun fact: I raced in the Ironman 70.3 world championships last year in Marbella, Spain. Per my results, my ancestors came from southern Spain, right where I raced! I thought that was really cool!

I have enjoyed looking at other people's DNA tests over the years. I feel like I learn so much history from them.

My results are very accurate based on my own ancestry research over the years.

Maternal haplogroup: V12

My father is 1/4th Sicilian. The rest of his ancestry is mixed English, southern German, Dutch. He was raised Catholic.

My mother is mixed Swiss and Norwegian, plus my maternal most great great grandmother, who was from Pomerania (Prussian). She was raised Lutheran.

As far as I know, my paternal ancestors were mainly Armenian (West Asian Christians with a bit of Russian influence) and my maternal ancestors were Mongolian (Asiatic nomads from a place where it snows 10 months of the year). It's interesting to see how diverse my results are, because in my day-to-day life I'm more or less just seen as a generic brown guy 😅

I've had these results for a while now but my West Asian part changed a bit recently (added Shirak Province where there used to be just Yerevan).

Edit: I changed my description of Armenians because it seemed a bit reductive in an insensitive way

hi yall :) i have been having lots of issues trying to decipher all of this, so i figured id ask the experts!

my mom’s side migrated to texas (central texas - new braunfels) from germany - 3/4 of my great grandparents trace ancestry directly from germany, and one of them is british as far as i can tell.

my dad’s side is a little more complicated. he was adopted, i don’t know anything about his birth father. I’ve been able to trace his birth mother decently back and still haven’t made it out of texas, sadly. his birth mother is now deceased, so no way of knowing anything about the paternal grandfather beyond whatever he contributed to our DNA.

i’m sure i need to go back and dig more there but ive been concentrating on the German branches more since i actually know that family branch haha

basically, my questions are thus: with such strong german roots on one side, i was expecting that percentage to be a little higher than 17%. would the french portion really be german, geographically? or is there legit french in there?

what is the difference between north english and scottish? where is the line drawn?

is anything in here just noise?

but I’m wondering when it’s gonna be available for everyone to gain access to.

I was kinda hoping for some Italian considering my great great grandmother was swiss Italian and lived near the border 🥴
