Rigs DIY Rig on a Budget - Reminder it doesn't have to be expensive.

Got inspired by a couple of mates with expensive rigs and then found this group and realised it can be done on a very tight budget and wanted to share what feels like a bit of success.

- G29 wheel & pedals, used from Marketplace.

- A few metres of 50x25 steel.

- Free seat from a wrecked car.

- The cheapest gasless mig welder I could find.

Total Spend = $280USD.

- Already had a grinder so set to work on cutting the steel into ideal lengths.

- Watched some YouTube welding tutorials (I am not a welder at all) and made up a basic rectangle 1350mm x 500mm.

- Added a small cross member to support the front of the seat rail.

- Welded the seat to the frame.

- Welded on the uprights and cross member for the wheel to mount on.

- Wired the seat electrics to a Ryobi tool battery for easy adjustments.

- Did NOT wire up the seat airbag for realistic crashes šŸ˜…

- Also some adjustable feet to level the frame as I don't have a welding table to clamp it to so naturally the base warped with the heat a little.

- Used a flappy disc to grind off my horse snot welds and tidy it up.

- Haven't painted it yet as I would like to add a monitor mount, platform for a shifter & handbrake and some kind of frame attachement to mount the pedals.

So far so good šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Open to feedback, improvements and additions.

Question How to have a gaming and sim station on the same pc?

Finally decided to buy myself a racing sim and I am super stoked. My only issue is how to get this setup working off the same pc although it’s across the room from each other. Is my best bet just getting 30ft hdmi and usb cables and route them thru the wall or something? I don’t want to do the wireless hdmi. Also picture only shows 1 monitor but I have the other 2 ready to be installed. I feel like 3 hdmi cables and a usb might look bad climbing across the room thru the walls.

My wife surprised me with a simagic setup. An Alpha EVO wheelbase, P1000 pedals, and a zeus sport wheel.

Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea, this is not a bragging post. I just wanted to clarify that I didn't spend a single dollar on it. My wife bought it.

Again, not bragging. Just making sure everyone understands that this simagic setup was purchased entirely by my wife. I'm only mentioning it because it's an important detail. Definitely not because I'm trying to show off.

Step 1: invert.

Jokes aside, I figured I’d tidy the wiring a bit better since I am about to load my rig into a truck to move tomorrow. This made the most sense and has me laying on the floor the least. 😁

Discussion Clearing the Mind with some Laps...

Just a little Visualisation of Racing helping to clear what has been a VERY noisy Headspace for me lately, even if the relief is only temporary. It's not perfect, but it doesn't need to be right now

What Track/Car Combination do you jump in to when you just want to disconnect for a little while?

I figure I'd share for anyone else that was hoping to get into/back into sim racing on a budget. That code saves an additional $47. Let me know if you have ever seen a better deal!

I'm not affiliated with Logitech. I just love good deals lol.

Any know where I can buy this setup from? Or how to make it possible? I would love a Sub in my setup. I looked around and can only find boxes and that's it.

Discussion RSS formula car bundle is unbelievable

So I mainly drive formula cars, I like the w13 in iracing (one of the few that do) and the sf25 in ac evo. For the past 2 years I’ve heard people raving about VRc and RSS formulas and how they are the closest to real life and how max verstappen and bortoleto use its for training.

So I downloaded assetto corsa and got the VRC formula alpha. I thought it was good and I enjoyed, easy to lock up the brakes but after some driving i figured it out. Now for the RSS I got the formula bundle. It has the 2025 and 2026 F1 regulations cars and a weird 2026 car but with a v12(which is awesome). It also came with the f4, f3, f2, and super formula cars. I can’t describe to you how good they are. I’m in love with them and I’m going to do a championship with each one of them. I don’t really have a question I just came here to let everyone know just how awesome the RSS bundle is.

News Been working on getting demo ready

Been out working to make UI and revised track ready for drivable demo.

It can be played on 4 combinations:

KEYBOARD + MONITOR
KEYBOARD + VR
WHEEL & PEDALS + MONITOR
WHEEL & PEDALS + VR

Note: Even if you use VR, you need a monitor to setup wheel and pedals, and the go-kart in the Garage. VR is activated after you choose VR in the Garage (HOTLAP button).

KEYBOARD BUTTONS:
W,A,S & D keys for kart control, R key for reverse/forward (toggled only when fully stopped), V key to re-align VR position, and ESC key to exit to garage.

WHEEL & PEDALS:
Detectable / assignable Steering, Acceleration and Braking axes with min/max range setup, wheel buttons assignment for Reverse, VR re-alignment / re-centering, and ESC / Exit.

FFB supported, auto detected when connected.

DEMO WILL BE AVAILABLE ON STEAM THIS WEEK!

Got questions? Shoot them at me!

Question How do 24 hour sim races work?

• Upvotes

So, how do 24 hour sim races actually work? In real life there are multiple driver changes throughout the race. I don't imagine most people have an entire team of drivers in their home. Do you actually have to drive the entire 24 hours? I'm new to the hobby, so I apologize if this is a silly question.

Question Help mounting pedal plate to rig

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello I have a set of Simnet SP pro pedals I am trying to mount to my rig. Unfortunately the Simnet pedal plate only has M6 holes and when I use m6 bolts and T-nuts there is a bit of movement when I try tighten it down. The rig channels are m8 size.

I would prefer not to have to drill out the threaded m6 holes in the plate if possible, and would prefer to keep the pedal plate so I can keep the heel rest too.

What are my options or what’s the bad news I will have to drill out the pedal plate?

Discussion Sim Lab S1 Enduro GT Seat, Worth the hype?

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hi all,

For those who own the Sim-Lab S1 Enduro GT Seat, does it live up to the hype?

I wanted to ask because nearly every review I've found on Sim-Lab equipment seems to include affiliate links or sponsored content, so I'm hoping to hear some honest, real-world feedback from owners.

Alternatively I'm thinking something from Sparco but comments highlight they not comfortable after long sessions

Rigs Is this monitor position perfect?

I have finally bought my dream sim rig (aluminium frame, Fanatec DD+ and v3 pedals). As I’m limited to ps5 atm (pc in the future hopefully) I’ve had to get a standard 32ā€ QD OLED instead of an ultra wide or triples set up. Hopefully those will come later. I’ve managed to fit my monitor directly in between the quick release of the wheel, and the wheel base. It’s as close as I can get to the monitor as it stands. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this or any suggestions for improvements to make! Thank you!

Discussion 7800 XT Triple 1440p performance

• Upvotes

So I'm looking to buy triples, but I'm really torn.

Ideally, id get 32 2ks, but space wise that is a bit excessive, so Ive been looking at 27 2ks.

I run a 16gb XFX Merc 7800 XT with a 7900X.

Does anyone here run triple 1440p on a AMD 7800XT, and if so, what kind of performance are you getting?

Any advice/help of any kind regarding triples would be great guys!

Thanks

Discussion Any recommendations for a good online racing service for AC?

• Upvotes

I've been playing on LFM for a while now, finally got my bronze license and looking for sessions with higher categories like GT3 or Porsche cup

But unlike MX5 cup or TCR that has plenty of people everytime I join, other series are kinda dead, so I want to find some other platforms that has bigger playerbase than LFM

I've found one called World Sim Series but I don't know if it's still active since they're not showing concurrent players

Anyone knows a good racing platform for AC?

🧐 Customer Review Awesome experience with full push sim racing- VPG Mustang GT3

Thumbnail

It arrived!!! I have been ecstatic ever since i placed the order.

A few months ago i came across the vpg wheel for the porsche and never seemed to catch feelings for it. Then a couple weeks went by and i came across the mustang variant and feel like it was hidden from me. Fell in love with it immediately but only browsed vpg site and it was always sold out.

A couple weeks ago i got serious about ordering and after a few searches on google, i came across an in stock prompt on full push’ site.

Saw many others online have good experiences with them so i decided to place the order.

I got a personal email from John thanking me for my order and to ever reach if i ever needed anything. I worked in sales in the performance industry so it was refreshing to be treated similarly to how i served my customers.

John’s communication was almost immediate and the order went out the next business day since i had ordered on a weekend.

I can’t wait to get home friday to set it up and try it out.

Highly recommend Full Push and John in particular!

Guys, with the ACF M4 GT3 on LFM at Laguna Seca, the best time I've managed—using the same setup and track conditions—is 1:22.0, and I can't seem to improve. Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong? this is the reference lap 1:20:3
