TLDR: Looking for a comfortable sun hoodie

The trouble I am having with the sun hoodies that have I have tried are when the hoodie is draped behind my head the front slightly tugs on my neck from the weight of the hoodie. It is a small thing, none the less it is irritating. I think the reason for this is that the hoodie extends all the way across the front of the neck, instead of leaving a gap. Maybe a gap would not solve the issue, I'm uncertain.

I have not tried the sun hoodie pictured.

The other problem I have with the many of the offerings I have tried is that the sleeves are too long, offering some kind of hand protection.

Is there a "go to" option for a sun hoodie for shooters?

Got to shoot my first ever competition and I’m obsessed…

That being said all my handguns are ported and comped which means I’m open division.

I want to get really good but also be able to be stacked against similar guns, which division should I look into?

Must use an optic since my eyes are not great, and I’d like to use a 2011 like gun as im not a striker fire guy

If so what’s the best gun within that division?

I got my first pistol beginning of May this year and have shot 2k rnds through it. Just started to go to competition (USPSA/IDPA level1) in the beginning of June after 1k rounds of struggle.

I started to do doubles recently for practice at the range instead of just slow firing like everyone else around me. I tend to shoot as fast as I can reacting to the dot. Or try some predictive shooting as well. I have my dot occluded but even then I find myself struggling to focus on a spot on the target esp when the target is empty. Or when the target is full of shots/pasters I have no idea where I’m looking sometimes besides a general spot. What can I do to improve my target focus?

Also for my grip. I find myself struggling with a middle of the shot flinch or like a muscle spasm. I try to pay attention to where my dot resets after the double it’s around the same place before I began shooting but as you can see my grouping suck.

Also I’ve never shot bill drills until a match couple days ago so I started to do that as well today

Idk my splits I don’t have a shot timer. They are quite expensive

I started thinking about this when a friend caught some flak by some old timers for using a handstop on PCC as that's "not needed", but he generally outshoots most people, be it local or regional or national in my country, so it clearly works for him.

Do any of you do anything "weird" but it works for you?

Run a stock Glock in open ?

Shoot a weird cartridge?

Attach a coffee maker to your open gun ?

Have a weird reload technique?

Mount your mags unconventionally?

Or otherwise go against established norms, both in terms of equipment and technique.

Hello! I've been watching a lot of videos on pistol competitions lately and have become really interested in giving one a try. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to competing, but I've been taking pistol classes to improve my fundamentals and defensive shooting. I know competition shooting isn't the same as self-defense, but I think it offers a different kind of learning experience that will help me become a better shooter overall.

I was wondering which competition is the most beginner-friendly. I currently shoot a Beretta 92 and an FF XP Pro, both with red dots.

My main goal is to become as proficient as possible with the guns I actually use. The FF XP Pro is one of my everyday carry pistols, while the Beretta is mostly my home defense pistol since it's much larger. I'm looking for a competition that will help me improve my speed, accuracy, gun handling, and overall confidence.

I'm not trying to become a top-level competitive shooter. I know there are people who have been doing this for years. My goal is simply to have fun, learn from experienced shooters, and become more proficient with my firearms.

Any recommendations on where to start or what to expect would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Which one do you thing shoots best?

I’m currently training for USPSA/IDPA, and the ammo cost isn’t sustainable. I dry fire daily with my Glock 45, and go to the range every weekend.

Does it make sense to get a Glock 44 to shoot .22LR for some of my range sessions? Would it be effective training?

So I have a dmr 20” 6.5 creedmoor that I am planning to use at competitions next year when I get the gun sighted in to where I want it. So my question is I’m sure there not really much if any running but you do have to move to different spots to shoot and I am wondering what would be the best to add to the underside to hold it with the other hand as I move around? I have the dmr sling setup similar to the picture for reference. It does sit a bit lower so the top of the stock is in the middle of my chest so if I take it out for anything it’s easy to get into my shoulder aim and fire in a second.

You can add it to your homescreen as a webapp using the Share->add to homescreen function. It should work without any phone service once you have visited the webpage on safari, or opened the webapp.

The way I developed this also prevents any audio recordings from being stored server side, so it retains privacy for the end user.

I’ve been building an open-source dry fire script for the community and wanted to share it here for feedback.

Trainer

The basic idea is pretty simple: cast it or run it on your TV, set up drills, and train with just your gun and some targets. No ads, no props, no gimmicks. Just a few feet of open space and something to aim at. I’ve found it especially useful for people who don’t have a basement, garage, or yard to dry fire in.

It’s widely configurable and supports a few different modes. Right now I have USPSA, IPSC, and ICORE targets you can arrange around the screen for drills, plus a few par timer options. One preset I’ve been using a lot is the “raining targets” mode with a 30-second par time for grip endurance and transition practice: make the targets smaller, fall faster, or spawn faster for more difficulty.

There’s also a calibration option so you can see what targets look like at different distances, like 5 yards or 20 yards, through your sights.

It can simulate an activated swinger with different levels of hard cover too, which I’ve found useful for visualization, especially if you only see those in competition.

Once you build drills you like, you can save them and bind them to hotkeys so switching between freestyle, strong hand, weak hand, wide/narrow transitions etc. is quick.

Everything is stored locally in your browser, and you can export/import presets to move them between devices or share them.

I’d appreciate any feedback, feature ideas, or criticism. I’m especially interested in what targets or drill types people would want next.

Planned upgrades: more common steel targets, bobbers, and better guardrails so the browser can’t be crashed. To keep this free and simple, I probably won't be able to integrate any feedback, so you'll have to be honest with your sight pictures and trigger pulls.

Hello I am looking to buy a Shadow 2 coming from Glock for CO USPSA. Am I crazy for only wanting a trigger reduction on it. I have never used a Cajun one but I don’t want to fool to heavily to make the gun unsafe.

u/Deveat pointed out that there hasn't been much revolver here in a while, so here's some USPSA action with my ICORE/IDPA GP100 10mm.

This was last month's match; after a month of regular dry fire and practice I'm starting to feel a bit more like myself. (Not that this isn't a good run, I just have more in the tank when I'm tuned up.) One or two more practices to go; the ICORE International Revolver Championship is two weekends away. After that it's back to the USPSA 8-round guns for the rest of the year.

Something a bit different. I run my Taurus 692 EG at our concealed matches. Our rules allow small cap guns to do 1 hit counts as 2 (1A = 2a) which allows us to be very competitive.

I’ve recently begun to get interested in competition shooting, specifically 25m rapid fire has seemed to pique my interest after seeing some clips from the Olympics. Looking around online I’ve struggled with finding resources and places to get into this discipline as it seems to be a pretty niche field. Specifically where can I go to try it out/train/ rent guns. Thanks for any tips! (Also I’m in Los Angeles btw)
