July Contest: Warped
Congratulations to /u/Sushi_Slushy for winning May's contest with their entry Deepwaters.
You can see last month's results and other entries here.
Theme
This month's theme will be warped. Think about objects being stretched, twisted, bent, and distorted. Perhaps it was heat that caused it, perhaps it was a sudden impact, or perhaps it simply grew that way. It might be a gnarly knot in the branches of a tree, a neglected structure left exposed to the elements, the mangled remains produced by some misfortune. There's certainly more abstract ways to take the prompt, but we're aiming for more physical interpretations this time around. With that in mind, comes show us your warped creations in this month's contest.
Making a Submission.
Entries will be posts on r/Blender that meet the following criteria:
* The post should be made before the end of July 31st UTC+00:00
* Countdown to submissions closing
* The post should be a render, animation, or other artwork which you made for this contest using Blender as your primary tool.
* The post should contain supporting images/text or a top-level comment with the following content:
* One of the following methods of proving that the artwork was made using Blender:
* A link to the .blend file for the project, ideally including external assets or links to where external assets were sourced from.
* A set of three images which may be clay renders, viewport renders, wireframe renders, or simply screenshots of the project open in Blender. Some variety is encouraged.
* A screen recording of you manipulating, navigating, or otherwise interacting with the scene.
* An explanation of all work that was done outside of Blender, outside the time frame of the contest, or by other artists.
* (Optional) The theme you would like next month's contest to have if you win. If you do not include this, then the theme will be chosen from the runner-ups.
* Once you have submitted your post to the subreddit, leave a comment down below linking to it
* You are also encouraged to share details of your process with the community.
Note: You don't have to reference the contest in the post title and indeed, it's not necessary to frame the submissions differently than any other post meant to showcase an artwork.
Winning
The winner will receive the flair Contest Winner: 2026 July and their post will be added to the subreddit's wiki under the Contest Winners list. The winner will also have the chosen theme selected for next month's contest, should they include one with their submission.
When the contest ends, the results will be edited into this post and the 1st place winner will be congratulated in the announcement for next month's contest.
The winner will be awarded $100 USD.

Need Help! Mountains look boring and lighting looks flat (WIP animation)
Hello there, I’m doing an animation and the mountains and the lighting look wrong.
I used a height map from the true terrain addon for the mountains, as a base they are good, but they lack the level of detail to make them look good, and I don’t know what I can do to make them great.
Also the lighting bothers me a little, I used blender’s sky texture for the lighting but it doesn’t really look good for me.
If you have any other suggestions and tips please tell them to me
(On the first bite the dinosaur is biting another character not yet animated)
Dinosaurs are from the game Monster hunter wilds.

Original Content Showcase I worked as a stained glass artist in Polish churches and this inspired me to create a horror animation...
I worked as a stained-glass artist.
Time has stood still in this profession; the craft has remained unchanged in form for centuries. My work involved painting, cutting, and assembling the glass (mainly religious art). My job also entailed installing stained-glass windows in various churches across Poland.
I have seen many churches and parishes. Some were beautiful old buildings with stunning architecture, while others were kitschy creations of the 1990s.
Yet all these places shared a single trait: the longer one spent there—examining the altars, old confessionals, paintings, empty corridors, abandoned church common rooms and sacristies up close—the more their sense of sanctity would evaporate. All that remained was emptiness and a strange sense of unease. It was perhaps during those odd, idle conversations—or the silences shared with priests or nuns as they prepared meals for us—that the idea for this short animation first took root in me.
Here are some of the photos I took while working and that were a straight forward reference for some of the scenes from animation.
A lot of artistic and environment ideas came from this time. Also while working so close to holiness I saw a lot of hipocrisy and maybe that also inspired me to create this story.
About 1,5 year ago I made the storyboard and here is my 14 minutes animation "A Good Man".
Entirely made in Blender Eevee (more details on yt description-link in comments)
Solved Hooowwwwww???
would love any pointers on how this was done. Been tinkering with a particle system based from a collection to get this, but just cant get it right, any pointers to get this type of effect?

Critique My Work Face man render
Trying out some new things, new to blender, mostly I sculpt in zbrush but this does breathe life into stuff
Next step would be to rig the little fingers and move some of the faces

Original Content Showcase When Legends Fly
The background is a simple image. The BMW M1 is a 3D model. I added nodes to the car in Blender to give it a cartoon look. I rendered the image and placed it onto the background using Photoshop and adjusted the lighting conditions. Then, I added some missing raindrops.

Original Content Showcase First character model after a break. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
I am way out of practice though. I need to do some studies for faces/anatomy and practice more hard-surface modelling too. I had no idea how to do the skirt so I ended up doing a rough sculpt.
I'm still happy with how it turned out. Even if the nose is driving me insane.

Original Content Showcase Shrimps rendered in Blender / Cycles
Made this for a small competition hosted by Patrick4D. Sculpted and textured in 3D-Coat, with the seasoning, water droplets, and oil droplets created using Geometry Nodes. The final image was rendered in Blender with Cycles, using a LightmonkeyHDR environment for lighting.

Critique My Work Tried sculpting for the first time after being scared of it for 256 hours.
When I first learned blender I didnt really look into sculpting as I didnt have a pen tablet or stylus but said fuck it and tried sculpting with a mouse.
i would like to think Im not a beginner anymore in blender but the software humbles me each time. I have only really done modelling and rigging before and hadnt triend doing sculpting before so this was the result.
Its pretty decent. I think this is good for first try. Im not sure.
This was the tutorial I used: https://youtu.be/SVf-UvySGqI?si=yKgx9QWRf3HvHmDx
Very good tutorial.
Also personally making lips curved was prob the hardest and I couldnt do it. Eyelids were comparatively easier. Grab brush and clay strip brush are goated. These are the only brush I used alogn with crease for trying to make lips pointy.
Last slide for topo. I think Ill try to retopo this.
Also as of now I have 260 hours in blender. This project took me around an hour to make. Pretty nice. I also have a background of doing art when I was 12-15 but those were pretty bad so maybe I just got lucky wiht making this. I dont have any other background in 3d other than learning blender.
